You'd almost swear Alec Guinness is just being himself as George Smiley, he's so natural in the part, and then watching this interview you discover that the real Alec Guinness is someone else. Magical actor !
I am really enchanted by Alec's telling of the stories about the shoebill bird and the single rogue elephant, particularly with the way he gets up and uses his body to interpret their movement. The way he said "You think I'm a fool, do you?" about the rogue elephant, and "the little eye that took us all in," that is verbal storytelling at its finest.
The audience are always listening. Parkinson was excellent at it. It is mainly the American network hosts that interject continuously, as they are all about self promotion.
A rare combination of kindness, geniality and charming. What a lovely person...!!!
Sir Alec died 3 years before I was born but I love watching him act and listening to him speak. Legend.
This is one guy you don't want to mess with or screw up your own lines when you're acting along side with this brilliant man
Such a gentleman, wonderful actor...one of the very best.

An actor who projected brilliantly, but never revealed himself. The best and most honest kind.
What a talent the man was, just wonderful...
Wonderful story telling by a wonderful person and from a far more civil time when people listened...

He moves beautifully. Thank you
Wow, was fascinated at both Sir Alec Guiness and the elephant he was telling about. 🐘
His autobiography "Blessings in Disguise" is well worth a read.
He had such a strong inner confidence!!
Forever George Smiley.
This is too much charm, I can't... :D
What a special person, Sir Alec was. May he rest in peace.
King Faisal Colonel Nicholson brilliant!
Excellent! Though neither this video nor the other I watched captured the whole interview.
Although he is famous for his star wars films I remember him from great Charles Dickens movies, Oliver and great expectations
A Zambrano he also did Marley on the musical film Scrooge with Albert Finney
He's the kind of bloke who doesn't know how funny he is
The greatest actor after James Cagney,
In your opinion.
Legendary
George smiley
We meet again Obi Wan, now I am the master!😅
if someone could please tell me how one manages to be both ludicrous and dignified at the same time, i think i could have this thing cracked, too.
That statement suggests that you don't, though.
