- Skyrail is a 7.5 km long cableway from the Cairns suburb of Springfield to the small town of Kuranda. There are two stopping points where you are encouraged to alight from the capsules and explore the World Heritage Listed rain forest at ground level.
There are two levels of Skyrail travel: standard and Diamond View. The later lets you travel in glass-floor gondolas and you join a priority line at all terminals and stations. It is a great experience which ever level you select.
Kuranda is a village in the rainforest with several interesting attractions. Three of these are situated in the famous tourist market where there are stalls and restaurants to keep every visitor satisfied. This is where you find the Birdworld Kuranda, Koala Gardens and the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary.
Skyrail operates from 8.45am each day. The Kuranda Scenic Railway departs from Freshwater train station at 8.55am and 9.55am. It departs from Kuranda at 2.00pm and 3.30pm.

I have done this ride on this day 24 years ago. Unfortunately we didn't have much time and had to hurry through the stops and didn't have much time in Kuranda itself. We also didn't have a video camera back then which is why I looked for for video content on CZcams. Thanks for bringing back some memories. :)

Hi len my Desmond frost I am from auckland new Zealand right now I am planning my trip to cairns kuranda sky rail tropical rainforest I want to see the butterfly's the parrots I am going to take the train go on the army boat than go on the sky rail and buy souvenirs I am going to alice springs first then darwin then cairns then a night at the Sydney opera never been to the opera House for a play dinner and tour plan to do this in Sept 2023

Tickets are available from outlets in Cairns and at the Skyrail itself.
I saw some 'open' skyrail carriages with just a railing. How does one get on those?

How long do you need to spend in kuranda whats the frog restaurant like
You can get an impression of Kuranda in a couple of hours but there is plenty to do for the whole day if you have the time. The Frog Restaurant is casual and very popular.
