- Today marks the beginning of a new series about networking! The goal of this series is to explain how a light show network works, and how you can get all your controllers and computers to communicate to run your light display. However, we first need a basic understanding of what networks are, how they work, and some of the terminology used when talking about networking. So that is what's in today's video! Feel free to use the timestamps below to skip to whatever part of the video you want to see.

After rewatching the video several times, I realized I explained everything really fast and could've taken more time to explain each topic. Honestly, I could've even made a separate video for each topic. For the next episodes, I'll try to slow down a bit so everything makes a little more sense (while still trying to keep the video from being 45 minutes long lol). If there's anything you're confused about from the video, please let me know in the comments so I can try and help. I think sometime in the future, once I finish making all the other tutorials I have planned, I may make some smaller videos about each topic just for this series to help any beginners out. If you have any advice for things I should do to the videos in the future, please let me know! Thanks!
THIS IS THE EXACT SERIES IVE BEEN NEEDING FOR MY LIGHT SHOW!!! THX NICK.
Awesome!!! Hopefully the videos will be helpful!
Great job Nick! Can’t wait for more episodes.
I was a network engineer before retiring, and I had many, many job applicants applying for jobs that didn't seem to understand network concepts as well as you have explained them. You are well on your way to becoming a great network engineer if you want to be one. I would have hired you on the spot as a level one network technician after interviewing you with this amount of knowledge.
Really? Thank you so much! It's funny because I've learned most of this just by watching CZcams videos 😅
Great job
Great explanation!!! Thank you for taking time to put this information together.
Glad it was useful!
Great job Nick!. Thank you for your channel.
Thank you! Glad the video was helpful!
Great video
Great stuff. Yeah a little fast but if you slowed down it would've been an hour. LOL Thanks for breaking it down for us!
Glad the video was useful! I'll have to find a happy medium between fast and long 😂
Great video we do I pay my $99.999999😂 thanks for the good info.
🤣Glad the video was useful!
The SUB net number messed me up this year. I had changed out my home router during the year and then when I connected up my old controllers (Falcon) I couldn't get them to talk to my new main controllers (Kulp).
Were you able to get them to talk again? Changing out routers can definitely mess up everything on the controllers. If you're still having problems, let me know and I can try and help if you'd like.
would have been next level if you get that domain name and just host this video on it 😂
🤣 Now I'm looking up what the world's longest domain name is LOL
Why does the text on your shirt appear to be backwards? Is it really backwards? Might explain why I see so many images where the text is reversed.
Good question, it's not you. When I'm recording with my phone most of the time I use the front camera so I can see what the video will look like on the screen, and the front camera mirrors the video. Most of the time I forget to fix it in editing, or if I do fix it, it makes the video look weird. So that's why sometimes it's mirrored 😂
