Praise be to Allaah. The principle is that the dead do not hear the words of the living, because Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): " but you cannot hear those who are in graves." [Faatir 35:22] and "Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear" [al-Naml 27:80]

This answered my question in a way that I could fully understand quickly.... My brother who was murdered in Ramadan 2013 I thought he could hear me on a Thursday night when I do Dua for him and when I visit his grave on a Friday... But people complaining to the dead or asking for guidance or help is wrong We as Muslims should only ask Allah for this... That is just common sense only Allah can perfect our Worldly affairs . I am not a scholar or anything but I know if anyone has done this n did not know you will not be punished but still repent n don't do it again coz it can be seen as grave worship which is Shirk... Haseena Aziz - I'm sorry to hear about your brother, may Allah elevate his ranks amongst the pious Ameen. The Quran states : And do not speak of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead; nay, (they are) alive, but you do not perceive. If you perceive your brother to be shaheed (martyred) , then he may have left this worldly realm - but according to the Quran he is alive! The only difference is , you and I can't see that. I don't think majority of the Ummah are indulged in 'grave worship' but there are a few who do this. However, saying that, the companions of the blessed prophet (saws) used to make dua to Allah but asking through the Prophet (saws). A very famous one was that a Bedouin came to the grave of the Prophet during the time of drought and asked for rain. That man slept for a while and saw the Prophet in his dreams telling him that they will receive rain and that he should tell Umar (ra) to be clever! This happened during the caliphate of Umar (ra). It is recorded in various books of authentic Ahadith - most commonly Al- bidaya wanniyaha by ibn kathir (ra). Even during your salaah you send salaam directly to the Prophet while in the tashahud (sitting) position and many great ulama of the past say that you 100% get a response for that salaam. It is not their fault if our hearts and ears are not tuned in on the same frequency...

The mentioned hadith is zaeef or weak, meaning it can't be followed and any Islamic faith/conclusion can't be made upon it. The salam we say in tashaddud is also sent on all good Muslims (the last line with word saleheen). Does it mean all the good people on earth hear and reply to it?? It is a dua and asked to Allah to send peace and blessings to our Prophet and Allah sends it to him. That's it, it doesn't mean our Prophet SAW hears it directly and replies. He has no communication to this world. There is one famous authentic hadith that says Prophet saw will be unaware of the worldly affairs after his death on the day of Qayamat: Narrated `Abdullah: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I am your predecessor at the Lake-Fount (Kauthar) and some men amongst you will be brought to me, and when I will try to hand them some water, they will be pulled away from me by force whereupon I will say, 'O Lord, my companions!' Then the Almighty will say, 'You do not know what they did after you left, they introduced new things into the religion after you.'" Reference : Sahih al-Bukhari 7049In-book reference : Book 92, Hadith 2USC-MSA web (English) reference : Vol. 9, Book 88, Hadith 173 sunnah.com/bukhari/92/2 Therefore, we should ask or make dua to Allah directly for everthing because as per one more authentic hadith, a dua is a prayer and prayer only to be made with Allah and not to anyone else. This is the foundation of not making any dua to any prophet or good person in the unseen. It dilutes tawheed. Please keep reading all the opinions and arrive athe proper conclusion. And avoid all the aqeedah made upon zaeef ahadith, it is killing Islam.

I did indeed convey to you the message for which I was sent by my Lord without asking any money from you. I gave you good counsel lest you should be destroyed but you did not listen to me. Then, you were destroyed like that.” Umar r.a. came close and with respect said . O prophet you are talking to rotten bodies of 3 days . The prophet s.a.w. replied ., Oh Umar I swear by him who has my life in his hands . " They hear far more better then you "

Leoh Hail Leoh Hail “The Fire, they are exposed to it, morning and afternoon. And on the Day when the Hour will be established (it will be said to the angels): ‘Cause Fir‘awn’s (Pharaoh) people to enter the severest torment!’”[Ghaafir 40:46] Allaah states here that the people of Pharaoh are exposed to torment morning and afternoon even though they are dead. From this ayah we can understand that the torment of grave is real. With regard to the hadeeth which describes the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) addressing the dead bodies of the mushrikeen on the day of the battle of Badr, it is to be understood that this was a unique case, where Allaah brought them back to life so that His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) might rebuke them and humiliate them. (a)It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stood over the well of Badr [into which the bodies of the mushrikeen had been thrown] and said, ‘Have you found the promise of your Lord to be true?’ Then he said, ‘They can hear what I am saying now.’” (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3980; Muslim, 932) (b)It was narrated that Abu Talhah said: “ ‘Umar said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, why are you speaking to bodies that have no souls?’ The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, you do not hear what I am saying any better than they do.’” Qutaadah said: Allaah brought them back to life so that they could hear what he was saying, so that they might be rebuked and feel regret and shame. (Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3976; Muslim, 2875. See Fath al-Baari, 7/304) The relevant point here is that Allaah caused the people in the well to hear the words of His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), so that they might be humiliated. But it is not correct to deduce from this hadeeth that the dead can hear everything, because this applied only to the people in the well. Some scholars made an exception and said that the dead can hear the salaam, but this is a view for which clear sound evidence is lacking.

It is safer to ask from Allah than bringing dead as our mediators. Allah hears everything. Allah is more near to our Jugular vein. It is only befitting to ask anything from Allah as we came into this world with Allah's Will.

True. But let's say you're sick and can't get out bed and need water. Wouldn't you tell someone to bring it for you as he is able to. This is similarly to asking the prophet and his family, as they are much nearer to Allah swt then we are to Allah.

Our heart remains the same in death as it was in life, as we alone are responsible for our free will, and therefore it is the precepts of our free will that judge and announce our eternal judgment!!!! Nobody wants to go to hell, however who among us that “freely” choose to live either without or beyond the Law of God, would possibly want to spend eternity living with him!! this contradicts both logical reason and the purpose of truth, this is why in life it is always better to think very carefully and choose wisely, because God will remember & hold us to this!!! always remember the Ten Commandments!!! our laws, man’s laws, or any other false prophets mean NOTHING!!! This answered my question in a way that I could fully understand quickly.... My brother who was murdered in Ramadan 2013 I thought he could hear me on a Thursday night when I do Dua for him and when I visit his grave on a Friday... But people complaining to the dead or asking for guidance or help is wrong We as Muslims should only ask Allah for this... That is just common sense only Allah can perfect our Worldly affairs . I am not a scholar or anything but I know if anyone has done this n did not know you will not be punished but still repent n don't do it again coz it can be seen as grave worship which is Shirk... May Allah guide us All and forgive me and All The Muslim Ummah Ameen

The Quran states : And do not speak of those who are slain in Allah's way as dead; nay, (they are) alive, but you do not perceive.
If you perceive your brother to be shaheed (martyred) , then he may have left this worldly realm - but according to the Quran he is alive! The only difference is , you and I can't see that.
I don't think majority of the Ummah are indulged in 'grave worship' but there are a few who do this. However, saying that, the companions of the blessed prophet (saws) used to make dua to Allah but asking through the Prophet (saws). A very famous one was that a Bedouin came to the grave of the Prophet during the time of drought and asked for rain. That man slept for a while and saw the Prophet in his dreams telling him that they will receive rain and that he should tell Umar (ra) to be clever! This happened during the caliphate of Umar (ra). It is recorded in various books of authentic Ahadith - most commonly Al- bidaya wanniyaha by ibn kathir (ra).
Even during your salaah you send salaam directly to the Prophet while in the tashahud (sitting) position and many great ulama of the past say that you 100% get a response for that salaam. It is not their fault if our hearts and ears are not tuned in on the same frequency...

@@deeq3159 brother, sorry to say, even I used to assume such faith about our Prophet saw but after doing lots of research it turned out to be untrue. The mentioned hadith is zaeef or weak, meaning it can't be followed and any Islamic faith/conclusion can't be made upon it. The salam we say in tashaddud is also sent on all good Muslims (the last line with word saleheen). Does it mean all the good people on earth hear and reply to it?? It is a dua and asked to Allah to send peace and blessings to our Prophet and Allah sends it to him. That's it, it doesn't mean our Prophet SAW hears it directly and replies. He has no communication to this world.
There is one famous authentic hadith that says Prophet saw will be unaware of the worldly affairs after his death on the day of Qayamat:
Narrated `Abdullah:
The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "I am your predecessor at the Lake-Fount (Kauthar) and some men amongst you will be brought to me, and when I will try to hand them some water, they will be pulled away from me by force whereupon I will say, 'O Lord, my companions!' Then the Almighty will say, 'You do not know what they did after you left, they introduced new things into the religion after you.'"

Therefore, we should ask or make dua to Allah directly for everthing because as per one more authentic hadith, a dua is a prayer and prayer only to be made with Allah and not to anyone else. This is the foundation of not making any dua to any prophet or good person in the unseen. It dilutes tawheed. Please keep reading all the opinions and arrive athe proper conclusion. And avoid all the aqeedah made upon zaeef ahadith, it is killing Islam.

After the victory of BADR 3 days later the prophet came to the BADR and gathered the 22 bodies of the pagan chiefs and stood on the steps of the dry well and gave a speech to the dead bodies of mushrik .one Aya was which Saleh a.s. said on his people after they perished .chapter 7 Aya 79 ."O my people! I did indeed convey to you the message for which I was sent by my Lord without asking any money from you. I gave you good counsel lest you should be destroyed but you did not listen to me. Then, you were destroyed like that.”
Umar r.a. came close and with respect said .
O prophet you are talking to rotten bodies of 3 days .
The prophet s.a.w. replied .,
Oh Umar I swear by him who has my life in his hands .
" They hear far more better then you "
“but you cannot make hear those who are in graves”

And About the Badr - it was a special occasion where Allah gave permission to those dead pagan at that particular time particular place otherwise dead cannot hear you as I quoted the Verses from the Qur'an Surah Faatir 35:22 and Surah al-Room 30:52 clear cut without ambiguous. Follow the Qur'an not your Bidhati deviant Sufi Shaykhs

“The Fire, they are exposed to it, morning and afternoon. And on the Day when the Hour will be established (it will be said to the angels): ‘Cause Fir‘awn’s (Pharaoh) people to enter the severest torment!’”[Ghaafir 40:46]
Allaah states here that the people of Pharaoh are exposed to torment morning and afternoon even though they are dead. From this ayah we can understand that the torment of grave is real.
With regard to the hadeeth which describes the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) addressing the dead bodies of the mushrikeen on the day of the battle of Badr, it is to be understood that this was a unique case, where Allaah brought them back to life so that His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) might rebuke them and humiliate them.
(a)It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: “The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) stood over the well of Badr [into which the bodies of the mushrikeen had been thrown] and said, ‘Have you found the promise of your Lord to be true?’ Then he said, ‘They can hear what I am saying now.’”
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3980; Muslim, 932)
(b)It was narrated that Abu Talhah said: “ ‘Umar said, ‘O Messenger of Allaah, why are you speaking to bodies that have no souls?’ The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: ‘By the One in Whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, you do not hear what I am saying any better than they do.’” Qutaadah said: Allaah brought them back to life so that they could hear what he was saying, so that they might be rebuked and feel regret and shame.
(Narrated by al-Bukhaari, 3976; Muslim, 2875. See Fath al-Baari, 7/304)
The relevant point here is that Allaah caused the people in the well to hear the words of His Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him), so that they might be humiliated. But it is not correct to deduce from this hadeeth that the dead can hear everything, because this applied only to the people in the well. Some scholars made an exception and said that the dead can hear the salaam, but this is a view for which clear sound evidence is lacking.
