I'm back at Scouring of Cheshire, an 800 point tournament for Warhammer, Middle Earth Strategy Battle Game from Games Workshop. In these three battle reports, I am taking my Riders of Theoden Legendary Legion, with Gamling, Eomer and Dernhelm joining the king. Today I'll face the Shire, with Aragorn and his Rangers, Moria with a Balrog and the Last Alliance with Gil Galad and Elendil.

I absolutely love your tournament recaps! The production quality of your videos is excellent and the editing is top-notch. These are basically half a dozen high quality battle reports in two videos. Wow!
A comment on the last game: I think it shouldn't have ended on the turn it did. Once your casualties exceed your Break point, your force is considered Broken from the start of the next turn. Thus the condition "once one force is Broken" wasn't yet reached and you should't have rolled for the game to end. With that being said, I don't think the outcome would have been any different if the game ended on the next turn instead. I think you would've been able to just tie up Ben's Gil-galad and put enough bodies in the way to prevent Heroic Combat-ing close enough to the center.

really impressed by your opponents. all agreed to mics and filming and all really great sporting guys. shows the hobby at its best.
100%. takes a bit of time to setup too, and everyone was so patient and accommodating. At the end of the day, they made this event so awesome

Great video as always. Game 2 was incredibly exciting (although you can't give the prize to a Eomer and move Eomer after that. The prize can only ever be moved once per turn. But it made it much more interesting)

Great vid, well done at the tourno, I wonder if the Balrog in hindsight should have gone onto the middle cliff formation at the start to give it maximum flexibility. Was nice to see how the battles went for you, good bat reps.
Thanks again! The Balrog was in a tough spot. I think my opponent did question whether he made the right choices, as we all do with hindsight. I think at the time he did what made sense - took the shortest route to the prize behind a wall of goblins

Thanks very much! That's basically it. My main driver for wargaming is the cool moments. The stories that develop on the board. That's why I enjoyed the Balrog game so much, full of really tense and cool moves.

Sad to see during game two at around 35:57 your opponent sneakily nudges the Balrog half an inch or so to get into range for his whip..

In the same way that you let me line up my cavalry and declare that they were out of charge range of the troll and his gobbos.

It was a brillaint game and I really enjoyed it. What I do realise though (maybe it was the editing?) Is that I didn't comment that you played the game really well, it aasn't just me being bad! Hope we see each other again soon amd get a rematch!

In the second game it looks like you didn't play the river as a river, unless i missed you rolling. Game would have been dramatically different if you had.
Hey, we decided it was just shallow water, as otherwise there was just a single crossing point which would have made for a bit of a slog-fest

That's an exceptionally good point!! It was actually the chestnut horse (that came in the van). The white speckled one was a bit screwed over by the fact he had the horn, so I tried to keep him out of trouble. I'm gonna get that assigned now (tell no one)

It really is my favourite game. In part for that exact reason! And I say that being someone who usually can't stick to a game for more than 10 minutes. Can't wait to see how you get on!
