Harvesting is mostly done by miyas in dimapur now and so sad this generation will likely never know how to cultivate. Your hardwork is truly remarkable brother Kent. Dear Sir Kent...I hope you don't misunderstand my opinion here but just sharing a personal experience.
This way of harvesting is too laborious. We did same once upon a time and made transition to the system given below.
You can avoid transporting your chopped off paddy from field to the point you are doing them currently (where you are seperating the grain from the paddy plant you have chopped off by using a secondary tool to seperate them) by simply beating/swinging the chopped off paddy against the inside of a big naga basket or a container made out off light timber (for easy mobility from one paddy field to another) which will seperate the grain from the paddy plant you have chopped off from the paddy field itself.
Thereafter you can transport the grain to the common grainary.
You need to give it a try for it is more convenient, energy saving and time saving...
