  • A reading of Mark Saucy's article in JETS (2000) "EVANGELICALS, CATHOLICS, AND ORTHODOX TOGETHER: IS THE CHURCH THE EXTENSION OF THE INCARNATION?"
I do not know much about Mark Saucy, nor do I endorse everything he says in this article. There are many valuable points made in this article.
Particularly, I think he misses the mark on "the church as the kingdom". He would have been more correct and consistent with his own argument in stating "the church is not THE KING". The Westminster Confession of Faith is correct in stating "The visible church, which is also catholic or universal under the gospel (not confined to one nation, as before under the law), consists of all those throughout the world that profess the true religion; and of their children: and is the kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ, the house and family of God, out of which there is no ORDINARY possibility of salvation."
