There has been some confusion about the compatibility of the XT2 gps and the XT mount. Garmin has now released an official recommendation that can be found at the link below. FWIW, I'm using this combination with no issues as of yet and will continue to do so unless I run into trouble. Use this combination at your own risk.

Great review! Highly informative in a brief video. Also, thank you for providing additional answers in the comments.

Hi, thank you for the video, i have one question, as on the XT it was not working well. The voice for navigation was interrupting music and came in 80s phone quality to my cardo, it switched from hifi to phone bluetooth. Which made me crazy, cause every cheap android can do this better (by just overlaying voice over music). Did they fix it in XT2 ? THX

Thanks for the review. I wonder if this has a newer CPU or not, does it seem faster or more responsive to you than the old zumo?
Also, the screen is larger but the same resolution so technically it's a bit worse, is it pixelated at all? Can't tell from the video. Thanks!

    • @3dcycleparts
      @3dcycleparts  Před rokem +2

It's pretty responsive, hard to say if it's faster than the XT. I don't have enough time on it yet. The picture is clear, it seems more clear to me than the XT. The graphics are improved.

If what you're wanting is a bigger screen then no. I've never heard any complaints about the XT screen size so I don't think they were trying to change much there. The new features are pretty legit. You can't please everyone but I believe they listened and added the features that have been most asked for. Thanks for your comment!

      @3dcycleparts  Před rokem +1

Yes. There is a national parks shortcut and a national parks shortcut but neither of those are really helpful when searching only state parks. What I did was opened the TripAdvisor shortcut and typed in State Park in the search. The results were excellent and the whole process took about 10 seconds.

XT has 2 Connector Pins, but the XT2 Mount have 3 Connector Pins. Something must be different there. But what?

    • @3dcycleparts
      @3dcycleparts  Před rokem +1

Mainly just that the XT2 mount puts out higher voltage and amperage to better keep up with the additional power the XT2 uses. I'm still using the XT mount with the XT2 mount and no issues. It just will never fully charge it but I don't care. I have never used the GPS off of the bike.

It's a waste of time for Garmin and money for us.
Had they upgraded all the software of all XT's with never features and request a fee, I'd be willing to do so.
But in this case they're taking us for fools, where's the upgrade?
    Same old hardware..

@@3dcycleparts I think you're still doing exactly that...
Though, I'll be a little more careful. Let's be friends :) And let me try to put it this way...
I'm a computer engineer with 35 years of experience. I design hardware and software on embedded (and portable) devices, and I also do high level and low level programming on operating systems, computers and network peripherals.
In my understanding, a product to a user is what it is.
Even though it is comprised of hardware and software components.
As a trusting user that depends on Garmin devices for decades, I would like to have more reason to upgrade to a "new" device.
For example, innovation is the keyword here. Such as the group ride feature.
And, also I love upgrading my toys like everyone else does.
But, this device, in my user experience as well as my professional experience, provides no actual upgrades at all.
Just updated software and a few added features is all gathered.
      - The screen size change is not a significant change. In fact it's like a joke. 0.5"? Come on...
      - The brightness was never ever an issue with the XT in my experience, I never boost it to maximum, and even if I had the sun right exactly behind me, I did not have a problem. And I like in Turkey, there's plenty of sun here.
      - The CPU we don't know anything about, it was not disclosed. In my experience this is always the point I felt like XT was suffering from.
      - The storage? Still substandard 32 GB.
      - The battery? No info given...
      - The screen is updated, what about the resolution? Still 720p. The same...
      - Wi-Fi standard? No info. For example does it support Wi-Fi 6? Was it upgraded in order to be more robust to modern attacks?
You get what I mean? Where is the "upgrade" that the "new" product provides?
The group track feature might or might not depend on a particular hardware implementation. Yet I know, I can create an join groups on Tread app without registering an XT2.
      So...
All I did was, to express my disappointment. Which mostly depends on logic rather than sentiment at this point.
I just want to inform Garmin of how their actions / decisions are actually perceived by at least some of the users.
Now this is exactly where I feel like we're taken for fools!
The money I earn, means the life time of myself I sell. It is precious cause time we have limited in this life is priceless.
God help me, as long as XT is supported with maps and it works properly without malfunctions I will not upgrade to XT2 under these conditions. I can change my battery in the future. No problem. And if some evil updates deliberately slow down or disable my device, I can always return back to my safe backups. This is my job.
      Of course you may say,
"This is my place, go do your propaganda somewhere else!"
You're kind of right, and not too...
Besides, what I suggested was a business model.
In my opinion, it is a neat compromise.
To pay for "upgraded" software features. It is not for FREE like you mentioned.
You buy an office package for your computer. You pay premium. You use it on your computer for years.
One day, you feel it's outdated. And you pay the upgrade fee. Not the whole price. A whole new product comes with new technology and features.
Even the operation systems people upgrade this way.
I didn't ask for Garmin to replace the XT I use with a new XT2. Was just asking for an option to buy additional software features. It doesn't make mine a new unit. Does it make it, the features of a new unit, like you said? Exactly. But then I'm proposing a fee for these upgrades. Isn't this a new upgraded device? Or is it just the new features?
In fact that has been the case for several products in the past as a business model. Pay the upgrade fee, we upgrade your "unit" with it.
Imagine Tesla doing what Garmin did with the XT2 upgrade(?).
They wouldn't dare. Something should actually be upgraded. Man they implemented FSD upgrade freely to several models as long as they were capable hardware-wise.
It's Garmin's decision of course. To do or not to upgrade.
      Then time will decide...
      All in all.
IMO, XT2 has so few additions to be called a "new" device. Again, in my experience...
Thanks for your support in providing the platform I needed to express my thoughts.
I definitely know, from the beginning, what I suggest is nonsense to them. And nothing will change. But still these are my thoughts.
      Best Regards...
