    So amazing to see the actual owner and head of the company do a video like this. Bob Gallien is a true electrical genius and after all these years, his dedication to the sound is still evident. Ever since I discovered GK amps a few years ago, I'm GK for life. I have the 4x10 Legacy combo and I could not be happier. Perfect tone. More power than I'll ever need. Built like a tank. Bonus that it looks tough as hell. #GKallday

    This head is amazing! After using it for two weeks and playing on stage with a reggae band and three different rock bands, this amp blew away all my expectations! The punch and GK tone are all there in a small, light and mighty package. Thank you Bob, Forrest, and all the crew at GK for developing a phenomenal product!

    I can see Mr. Gallien is very proud of this product and he should be. Looks like a lot of thought is put into his products and they built a beauty here. Great explanation of how it works, straight from the horse's mouth! My 400RB is still happily cranking among. GK, best sounding bass heads out there!

    Very nice demo Bob and Forest. I have been playing bass since 1969. Picked up my first GK in the 80's, I don't remember the model. Later I bought an RB-400iii with a Backline 115 and Backline 410 cabs. I played that setup for probably 13 or 14 years. I'm 68 now and can't haul that much gear anymore. About 12 years ago I bought a used 115 Backline combo for band practice, it never failed me. Several years ago I bought a MB 115-II from Sweetwater which is plenty for gigs and I use the direct out to the PA and only 38 lbs it's easy to haul around. I would really like to get the Fusion 115 or Legacy 212 but being on a fixed retirement income now will be hard to come up with that kind of scratch. I have nothing but positive things to say about the four GK amps I've had over the years. Thank you so much for a superior product!

      Basically this overdrive allows you dial in everything from a boost/growl to full on heavy overdrive. We wanted to give people the ability to dial in that "hitting the rails" sound without having to crank your master/boost channel to get the amp to break up

    I think my math should be correct if I've understood it all but could someone help & confirm? 😅
    So would the following head + cab combo work well:
    GK legacy 800 (800w output at 2.7 ohms) with GK CX410 4 ohm cab (800watts) + GK CX 115 8 ohm cab (300watts). I think this would be awesome. So (8x4)/(8+4) = 2.666 ohms would be the total ohms in parallel, and with 4 ohm + 8 ohm cabs it would mean that 2/3 of the heads power goes to the 410, so 2/3x800=533 watts for that and 1/3x800=266 watts for the CX115.
    And which was the position the back nob should be turned to? (8 + 4) right?
    Thank you! I love your bass cabs and amps!

    • @Gallien-Krueger
      @Gallien-Krueger  Před 2 lety

    I have a question about the ohm load. I believe my amp (legacy 800 like the one in the video) has a different order for the switch on the back. Mine (from bottom to the top) is (4+4) - 4 or 8 - (8+4).
    Is this an older setup or am I running my amp wrong?

    • @JacqueRamon

      I think he said the middle and top around the wrong way

    • @DukeMaster1956
      @DukeMaster1956 Před rokem

      I agree that he mentioned the middle and top positions in the wrong order. I have two 8 ohm cabs that have their own parallel connections to join them together making the total load 4 ohms and I would like to know if I need to use BOTH output jacks on the back of the amp or just one? The rear outputs are in parallel as well so running a cable to each 8 ohm speaker from each output still renders 4 ohms.
      My total load is 4 ohms in either scenario and I believe I need to set the switch in the mid position which, if I understand correctly, is for either a 4 ohm load OR an 8 ohm load. A 4 ohm load = 800 watts output and an 8 ohm load = 400 watts output with the switch in the MID position. I would also like to see the switch recessed into a small cavity so it’s under flush with the back surface or a clear cover of some sorts to protect it from being moved accidentally when handling the amp. I’ll be using a small piece of tape on mine.

    I didn't follow all that well the cabinet impedance explanation. I'm currently running 4x10 4ohm cabinet, what position should the switch be in? He says " middle position is 4 + 8" and mine says "4 or 8" and that's where it got confusing.

    • @swiftymcgarnagle4567

  • @bushmann9272
    @bushmann9272 Před 8 měsíci

    i dont understand the impedance? i have a Hartke HD112 cab with a 4 or 8 ohm switch and a Legacy 500 with a 3 way impedance switch what do i set both the cab and head for optimal performance?

    • @Gallien-Krueger
      @Gallien-Krueger  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Just leave the switch in the middle on the Legacy (4 or 8) and you can choose either 4 or 8 ohms on the cabinet. 4 ohms will draw more power from the head, so 8 ohms for the single 112 would be the best fit!

    • @Gallien-Krueger
      @Gallien-Krueger  Před rokem

      The Contour boosts the highs and lows while reducing the mids. It creates a more "scooped" sound that a lot of slap and pick players love. We label the contour as a "Voicing Filter" as it changes the voicing of the amp, while still allowing you to adjust the standard 4-band EQ to your liking
