    In Ghana our institutions are there in name only.
    You see the have electricity and soon water.
    When a community starts to develop, Government must construct the roads, even without the asphalt.
    Schools, markets, parks churches, lorry parks, police stations, hospitals roads and streets etc, should all be marked.
    This is the usual.
    Those selling the lands just sell anyhow even though they know the plan of the area. They don't care.
    They only sell and then put pressure on you to build, build and build.
    The useless Town and County Planning will then raise their ugly faces to demand permits, break houses and punish encroachers.
    People should do their land search etc before building to avoid wasting money.

    You see this is the problem we have in Africa and Ghana. The so called authorities will sit by and watch watch till it gets to a very bad state then as usual they come to make unfounded explanations. Why do I say that is it not the case in maccarthy Hill, kasoa, that has been causing problems for the main roads and those living down stream. You see the thing is 1. It's not every mountain or hill that has to be built on.
    2. If you want to build on a hill there is a way to do it. But over here people just get up and say I want to build on a hill I want to build on the beach front. Places like akuapim mountains the government and the chiefs must not allow anybody to build on certain parts of the Mountain but as we speak its going on. As for the assembly people hooo they are there for jus being there. I think the government should first let geo people do a survey so that the hills not suitable for building be taken over by the state to prevent greedy selfish people from selling and building to put peoples lives in danger.

    • @markntiri8251
      @markntiri8251 Před 2 lety

      @Pedrot king What if we allow people build on these hills but create deep gutters from uphill to downhill to channel water downstream? Because there's limited land space in Accra/ our prime areas. Trees/greenery can always be incorporated into the landscape. People/ the authorities should build high rises on our limited Accra lands

    • @pedrotking6554
      @pedrotking6554 Před 2 lety

      @@markntiri8251 you see yes on some hills what you saying can be done but not all. Some of the hills as soon as you begin cutting trees weeding and grading you just destroy the thing and make it erode. No with what you described if it is done well and supervised but you know this place they will start well then the rest will be left to go on any how, before long heavy rains come then there's a big mess.

    • @markntiri8251
      @markntiri8251 Před 2 lety

      @Pedrot king Hopefully our hills are not the "soft" type. I remember a hillside disaster in Sierra Leone some few years ago that killed so many people who were still asleep in their homes. It doesn't rain so much in Accra so hopefully no massive hillside disaster happens here, because the REALITY is that people would continue to build on these hills
      It can't be stopped. The authorities should encourage the builders to build very strong structures, and to contruct very deep gutters to channel rainwater downstream

    • @pedrotking6554
      @pedrotking6554 Před 2 lety +1

      @@markntiri8251 why can't it be stopped. The state can take over all such hill lands which pose danger and cease chiefs and land developers from building that's if the state is really serious about it. Rather than build on the state can plant trees and shrubs to hold the soil and rocks together.

    • @markntiri8251
      @markntiri8251 Před 2 lety

      @Pedrot king Im talking REALITY. We're both Ghanaians, we know how things operate here. The Accra minister cleared Makola of hawkers, they came back, because they've got nowhere to go. The roads minister stopped a building project that had destroyed roads behind Association school, construction is ongoing. Accra is choked, people NEED space to build, they'd build on these hills. The authorities should just control the space/ building process. Properly demarcate/lay out these spaces, create road ways, create gutters to channel water downstream, make sure quality materials are used in building etc etc
      The only spaces that we cannot build on in Ghana are Ramar sites and forest reserves. Even the Ramsar sites a lot have been filled up
