I made these videos to document my experience eating a diet termed the “Lion Diet” by Mikhaila Peterson, daughter of Jordan Peterson, who introduced this diet to my thinking. Lion Diet is a strict version of the Carnivore diet that only allows for ruminant meat, salt, and water. This was my biggest question regarding the DREO!!
We all know air fryers are notorious for being too small for two decent sized steaks and too small in general.
I've found that my appetite has naturally modulated downward since I started this. At first I was pounding down 2+ lbs of meat/day. Now it is more like 1lb plus a couple of eggs or something. I think when we start out, a lot of us are very overfed but undernourished. The body has some restocking of the shelves to do. Once those serious cravings for missing nutrients calm down, so does the appetite.

I can’t over eat on carnivore. I made 4 ounces of steak and two duck eggs on Sunday and I could only eat half. And that’s after what 16 or 17 hours of not eating? It was 11 o’clock in the morning.
I've actually moved to a leaner meat and broke a stall. Actually find myself liking 90-10 burgers on the grill
That's something I'm thinking about... going leaner and see what happens.

Well, that explains a lot. Lately, I've been consuming ribeye steaks like a wood chipper consumes trees. My weight loss has slowed (not stopped) commensurately. Dang! Always a catch.
The minimalist in me just won't allow me to cook with anything fancier than fire.
Mine had slowed as well then I switched out to some leaner meat types on a few meals here and there and it broke the stall basically going to leaner ground beef Plus turkey burgers and some chicken thighs
Yeah man. Hard learned lesson but even if you’re eating right, calories, as a measurement, still matter. Through a little caloric deficit vs surplus experiment, I’ve found this to be very true. I always got frustrated with people because they’d get “too hung up on calorie counting”. Well, truth is, when switching from a standard American diet, at the beginning especially, you just can’t eat that much good protein, speaking strictly to volume. There’s over 3,000 calories in 3lbs of ribeye. I really have to watch it. Once I figured this out, I now do much better.
I use the ninja foodie, has a built in meat probe and has a fantastic griddle, can easily cook 3 of those steaks on it to your likeing, its fantastic for any meat's, has plenty of presets and is simple to use. Their is now a ninja foodie that has a smoker, uses pellets to add smoke.

You could absolutely do that, it’s just the manufacturer was going for delivering a product that doesn’t need you to do anything but put it in and forget it until it’s ready. Using two steaks this side reduced the air flow underneath significantly, but I’m going to try again with some normal sized steaks. 😎👍🏽

how do you find such big steaks? In uk standard ribeye is 227g (8 ounces only). Even at butchers it’s a huge struggle as they’re triple the price per kg & refuse to cut to size & if you negotiate, when they agree to cut to size they do it wrong every time
Can you show if you can cook in Dreo thin steaks? We in UK hardly can get thick cut steaks in shops for some reason, possibly due to price

Im just 3 days in and i struggle big time. You know when you wake up the next morning and you feel dizzy and like your body will shut down as soon as you walk out the door? My brain says yes, and it's not about cravings at all. It's like i went a week without food and your body just quits on you.
On my 3rd day i had to eat a banana and an avocado as my breakfast meal with half amount of coffee that i normally drink so i don't collapse. My body had a brutal reaction to meat and eggs only. It's not about keeping my head busy to avoid the thought of being hungry either. My body just shuts down without any other energy source.
The only time I have experienced anything like this is when I reduced my intake of natural salt. That doesn’t mean that’s your solution, but it’s a starting point to consider. There are other things that can cause a physical aversion to meat such a bite from a lone star tick. I’ve heard some people say O blood types do better on a carnivore diet, but I’ve had other blood types tell me they do fine on carnivore, and some tell me the opposite. Then there’s the possibility you’re experiencing oxalate dumping, in which case I recommend looking into this condition by researching the work Sally Norton has been doing.
There’s no one answer that covers everyone, but the salt issue seems to solve these kind of issues for a lot of people I’ve spoken to.
Whatever it is I pray you find a solution that works for you.
You might not have had any adaptation, should have eased yourself into it a little slower. Your body has never had to run on fat before. Also remember to get plenty of salt as you initially dump excess water and electrolytes until you adapt, plus you cut out all the salt you didn't know you were eating.

Question, can you cook frozen steaks in this machine?
I usually do. I just set them for 8-15 min at 380°F depending on the size/quantity on classic cook mode then I find they’re usually defrosted enough to get the probe in, and I use that as an opportunity to flip the steaks for more even cooking. Then I usually choose sous vide flavor on the ChefMaker mode. It takes longer than the way I do with my PowerXL, but the risky has been better cooking. The steaks are never overdone, come out very juicy and quite crispy at the same time.

@@priscillaisrael416 : I have the same vest. I would also recommend getting the shoulder pads or using some kind of padding to put between the shoulder straps and your shoulders. It starts to dig in after a while.
Did you find your requirement for more meat went up? I started Keto at the beginning of January 23 and have been lion diet mostly with a bit of snacking cheese 2 months ago but I would struggle with a steak bigger than 1lb I weigh 182 lbs now down 42 lbs from 224lb.
After I hit 176 lbs I found I was eating more that ever, but there might be a couple of contributing factors: one, after I found Redmond Smoked Salts I wanted to eat more, and two I bought a lot of ribeye on sale earlier this year and had them cut larger than normal. Now I hover around 189 (which is still my high school wrestling weight so no complaints really) but I have to admit I really like seeing my abs, and the extra 13 pounds all went to my waist area. Another factor to account for is that my circadian rhythm has been a disaster since December of last year because I’ve been working graveyard shifts or swing shifts since then. This seems to make me more tired in general so it’s been hard getting the extra weight back off. It doesn’t help that I work I’m a kitchen that rarely if ever makes beef available to the staff.
@@FerrignoFreedom Yes I still have a bit of belly fat I would like to lose but have stalled at 182lb I am the same weight I was at 18 but I had a lot more upper body muscle back then I am turning 60 in a few weeks.I might start introducing a bit of fasting.
How much meat weight did you eat when you were large? And it seems as if now you mostly do 2 pounds of beef each day. Was it less than 2 pounds before when you were larger?
I wasn’t tracking it at all for the first 6 to 8 months, but there were days where I wouldn’t eat all day just because I wasn’t hungry. There weren’t many days like that, but there were a few. I actually think I was eating less at the beginning months (after the first couple weeks; initially, I was eating three times a day I think, but I don’t remember).

Are usually eat about 2 pounds of beef each day when I’m really keeping an ion it. I always make sure they don’t cut the fat off my steak, so these ribeyes are quite fatty. I do keep some rendered suet for one I need to add some fat, but not on this cut of meat.

Also wondering do you ever do the full keto thing with multiple smaller meals of around 25g protein so as to remain in ketosis all day without stimulating gluconeogenesis from excess protein and keeping the gluconeogenesis coming from fat?
@@jss2889 The sittings vary. When I’ve done OMAD in the past I did them all in one sitting, but that was tough. Now I typically do OMAD in two sittings close together. Sometimes two sittings happen with 8 hours or so in between because work makes my schedule crazy. As for the 25 g of protein at intervals the answer is no, but it sounds interesting.

I am no more concerned about the reading of salt than I am of the typical amount in tap water, fruits, or vegetables naturally. Even at my consumption level I get far less from the salt than from the RDA of tap water. Plus I don’t eat fruits, vegetables, and my water is often purified so I still get lass than the average person would get eating a completely natural whole food diet. I believe these comments about lead are simply competing interests slinging mud.

Sort of. We have one in the RV as well, but it’s too small for even my air fryer. I only use it to cook eggs mostly. Our house is STILL being built after 18 months, but we’re hoping to be in by June. It’ll be nice to have a little room to move again. 😎👍🏽

I maybe if you had two of them lol. Air frying in general is probably not the best approach for a family of four on carnivore. A convection oven should do the trick though.
