  • Hikaru Nakamura vs Praggnanandhaa clashes are always very exciting. In the World Cup 2023, 18-year-old Pragg eliminated Hikaru by playing some amazing chess. In their first encounter of the Candidates 2024 the game ended in a tame draw. But now with both of them just being half a point behind the leaders, this promised to be a fascinating clash.

      This is not really a problem of physical health, if anything the time management is more of a concern, but anyway, a very experienced player outmanouvering a younger player at this stage of a tournament will always happen, you don't need to worry about it, the young man is far away from being in his prime, he'll get better with age

    When two of your favorite players are at it, it’s so hard to know who to root for! I truly wanted them both to draw or at the very least give the best game you can and may the best man win and Hikaru did so gracefully! Very proud of Hikaru and Praggnanadhaa!

      But don't you find draws boring ? Most of the players in candidates are my favorites but I love it when players take risks, make rare unexpected moves, have a dominant victory or turn the tables capitalising on a single minor mistake. As opposed to playing it "safe", knowing they can draw whenever they want. Might be because I'm a newer chess fan and low rated player who doesn't understand the thought process behind a grandmaster's moves, but that's just what I think. Also I feel like people remember more of decisive games and they are more memorable than draws also more emotionally inclusive than draws, despite the fact that both cases involve many brilliant moves. I know chess is different, but most big sports have their rules made in order to minimize the chances of a draw, I think that is for a reason. Just look at hikaru, 2 losses to vidit and bro is at the top of the table after this match. You gotta respect that

    • @Eyezofdarkfire
      @Eyezofdarkfire Před 27 dny

      @@RyukenXX I agree with you! Some draws are just dull and brain numbing haha! However, one point I’d like to make, is that it’s equally as exciting being able to pull a draw in a less favorable position which takes skill as well as showing someone’s preparation needs more refining too. Draws can be frustrating and it builds upon that causing even more spicy games like this one. I only said a draw because I’d like to see them both get points and having them be the one’s to battle it out in the end and at that point I’m just holding onto the edge of my seat because it could be anyone’s title at that point. But in short yes I agree with yah on draws being primarily “boring”.

    • @RyukenXX
      @RyukenXX Před 27 dny

      @@Eyezofdarkfire I think I somewhat understand, comeback from losing position to a draw is an exception I'd add to my point, cause that is exciting too. Maybe I'll be able to appreciate more of the skill aspect once I become a better rated player myself. Unrelated but what's your elo though?

    End of Pragg's campaign. Not mathematically ofcourse. But 1.5 points to cover in 3 games is almost impossible. Its not like Nepo is going to start losing all his games. And honestly the way he played, Pragg doesn't deserve to win. Harsh but true. Nakamura just showed superior play. Outside of theory.
