  • This is a very short video of crappie fishing in Minnesota on Lake Vermilion in Black Bay in the spring. Crappie fishing on Lake Vermilion can be very good during the crappie spawn even though this trip was slow for us. The crazy thing is when we took our boat out of the water on the west end (Cook) by The Landing, locals were catching crappie by the bucket loads across the street from the restaurant. There is a little channel that runs under the road into a small pond like area where, I imagine, the crappie are spawning. I used to go to Lake Vermilion every year but the walleye fishing can be very challenging. Not sure why, but there are many theories floating around. Muskie eating all the walleye, cormorants eating all the walleye?

Nothing better than Black Bay the first week in June at Lake Vermilion!

Muskies aren’t eating all the fish. Studies have shown lakes with musky have a better avg size for all species
