An alternative to impress students in a whiteboard classroom is to bring unusually colored markers. I remember everyone in my school was crazy about this teacher who had purple, orange and teal markers. They were also super pigmented and smooth so everything she wrote with them was extremely satisfying to watch.

Old school physics/ math teacher here: back in the 70's - 80's nearly everyone working with blackboards knew how to do this. Most physicists and mathematicians I know actually prefer chalkboards to whiteboards to this day.
I'll bet I've watched this video ten times now. It's got the satisfaction, the education and the well delivered punchline. For one of Mike's less involved projects it's one of my favourites.

When I was 14, I had a sciences teacher that could not only do those dotted lines, he was also able to do perfect circles, write two lines of text at the same time (he was ambidextrous) and - that was the one that impressed me the most - write from right to left. With that I mean, the result wasn't like a mirror reflection but the text was written correctly in the chalkboard but from right to left!
How many souls did he sell to a demon to be able to do this

My observation: once he knows how to draw dotted lines with that cool technique, he can't stop doing it.
Well, that is unless his classroom doesn't have a single chalkboard.

I had a science teacher that would do this making a very large circle with a radius equal to his arm length centered at his shoulder with a flourishing rotation of his body. Very impressive to young and eager academic me.
there is actually a guy who explains how to do it on youtube, its hard for me to explain, he holds the chalk with his fingers and just spinks his hand around 360° (so the radius of the circle is his arm basically). It would be awesome if you learned this ^^
