Fnatic countering their own half shield is crazy
it makes sense tho you come up with a strat and figure out its weakness and use that agaisnt teams that copy big brain plays
i dont think they had the intention to counter the half shield strat. it was more so bcz of lotas cuz their are a lot of spam spots on that map
wait so how did they counter half shield, with phantom?
@@marcusliu1141 odin wall spam and util chip damage. I don't remember the time stamp in the video, but basically the extra 25 hp matters much more against those types of damage compared to usual vandal/phantom duels where you often can get shot the same amount of times regardless of which shields you have
Not only Fnatic invented the Half Shield strategy and used it to win Lock In, but they also created a counter for their own strategy to punish other teams that stole their strategy and try use it. Bro thats 1000 IQ.
Edit: Aparently NRG invented this strat, but it didn't work out so well so they decided not to use it. And then FNATIC used this strat and then you know what happens.
Boaster is too good fr fr
If I remember it right, half shield strategy is already present before lock in and it was used by another team. Might be wrong here though
@@cnaizhen yeah but fnc made it popular and is main reason why other teams are using it
@@coral3607 What you said is definitely true, just that there is a huge difference between inventing the half shield strat versus copying other team's strat and making it work. Credit should be given where it's due.
Nothing wrong with copying strats btw. Everyone's doing it.
I think it's was nrg/Ethan who "invented it"
I think one very important thing you didn't mention is that FNC had seen TL run this exact comp before on Lotus and the biggest problem for TL in this game was that they changed almost nothing in their defensive side up until the push in the one round that they won.
A big reason why FNC went for the Odin and why they were just walking up A in the middle of the round was that they knew exactly what TL's defensive protocol was: Push out A early, leave Skye and run over to C.
The pistol round then was Boaster basically checking if they were doing that Protocol and once he got the confirmation, he was free to just execute the plan they came up with against that protocol during the week.
If thats the case, kudos to the fnc analysis team!
@Almanac Kopper True, though honestly FNC and FPX (now Navi) have been doing this forever, with FNC usually adapting their game plan and Ange1+doombros cooking up an entirely new Agent composition designed to counter their opponents.
Honestly, to me, it is a blunder on TL's part to not see this coming against FNC of all teams as this level of preparation is just par for the course for FNC.
Mini and boaster is like master strategist, the war is already won before the battle begin
3:10 Never occurred to me u could tell player position by their orbs, that's insane
Its very strong if you have info on where orbs are and if someone grabs orb and youre not holdong tha torb its obv where they are. The minimap combined with the scoreboard is literally free info. If you see 4 push site but you dont know where last is, might be lurker or last rotater. But if the guy you didnt see as the 4 initial entries plant the lurk danger is suddenly minimal. It can be very good to keep eye on both!
Wow this channel is massively underrated. A fine analysis! Keep it coming please.
Excelent analysis man, keep up with the great content
Very good in depth analysis. Subscribed!
Always a pleasure to watch such a good content!
bro u deserve more subs! great breakdown ty.
Boaster is such a mega brain IGL bro needs more credit
fantastic video as always
Your Videos are so good man, love all the analysis
really nice video of a small creator who deserves more, keep it up bro
Great analysis, FNC is so ahead when thinking about the game. Innovating comps, con, strats all the time.
and here I thought that Chronicle was just trolling with odin
Chronicle and boaster's odin is a menace dude 🤣 they did so many random damage
Ive been a fnatic fan always and it is super rewarding watching their domination of pro val rn
FNC is peak Valorant SSS Tier team
imagine the odin buy wasn't a counter to their strat and it was simply becuz the map have so many easy places to wallbang xD
Yep I'm just pointing out that it's ironic how the odin strat counters the half armor strategy, but just a testament to how innovative Fnatic are. Don't mean to say that Fnatic explicitly made up the strategy to counter their own strat but it often turns out that way when you're on top of all the innovations.
@@platoonval it would be funny if they're simply trolling cuz they know they're a better team and buy odin to meme on them.
>Introduced a new economy meta
>holds off weakness to the meta
>wins
i never thought of checking the score board to see who took orb, that's smart
100% i think fnatic are the best fundamental team, even without boasters giga brain strats i think itd still be a dangerous team, but with him, they become the best
People really don't give Boaster enough credit
They were. But now they know how good he is
Bro Boaster is literally the brains in this team + the coach, most teams even with talented players struggle because their strats are too weak, you need a strong backbone behind your plays and without Boaster doing a lot of preparation this team wont be this dominant.
In my opnion give him way too much Credit dude only won a pre season championship
Dude fnatic this fnatic is giving me the Astrailis domination era vibes
This is Enders Game stuff. My strategy beats everyone? Let's invent a counter to it before people have even adopted it
I will note that A is by far and away the easiest site to retake on lotus, simply because there are three or four points of entry for the retake instead of the usual two. This makes it harder to set up crossfires and other high percentage postplant positions. TL lost on several of their A retakes, of course, but given a choice between any of the three sites to leave weak I'd pick A in almost every situation.
I generally feel a lot more pressured retaking B or C against a good team than A.
honestly its also fanatic doing their homework. TL has been doing the same thing in lotus and fanatic just counter what they did
i started using hte half shield strat and i can confirm its really underrated
You need to know when and when not to go for it though. More than once I've died from a 140 damage headshot by a phantom on a long duel, which I would have survived with full shields
I saw another analysis of this match is that TL ran same defense strat the 2 previous teams they played against and lost so Fnc knew how they played
mini has to be one of the best coaches in valorant
You make a good point about it being tough on Jampi having to anchor A but I don't get why they were doing that at all, I have probably seen 100% of matches ranked or unranked with A being defended heavily by teams and letting C be the pure retake site, ofc I understand skill and coordination in ranked can be way lower but guarding A with at least 2 if not 3 is the usual there
The idea of TL's defensive side is to funnel their opponents into Nats (or B, but taking B only through main is borderline match fixing at that level).
Huge pressure out A early to force the attackers into taking space towards C and maybe make them think they can fast take C. There, Nats delays them long enough for Neon to run across and reinforce.
The idea is solid, and I assume in scrims (where teams are generally more trigger-happy than on stage) this works quite well, especially for Lotus defence side standards.
Skye is then okay as a solo info agent towards A that basically should just tell you if anyone's coming, and then you play retake.
The problem for TL was that FNC isn't just a good team that can adapt on the fly, but that FNC had the whole week to come up with how to break that protocol because TL ran the exact same comp and defensive strategy the week before already.
@@thesilvanalyst6880 Thanks for explaining it in detail. I will check out how TL was making their strategy work. But damn, they had nothing as backup seeing FNC had adapted..anyways fun to see this stuff
1:00 holy satisfying graph what the hell how is that so perfect
Nvm just saw that the numbers don't match size of graph :|
I think Team Liquid would benefit way more by having soulcas on skye, Jiamppi on Killjoy and Redgar on Astra since they're so keen on running the Neon
MIN 6:29 it was fade raze combo that killed the viper.
#1 Odin player here. It seems pro play is finally catching up! Hehe
nice
5:22 Liquid doesnt have a KJ player and it's not Redgar's style of gameplay. It traces back to Gambit, they only used it on very specific instances, two or three I can think of and to counter strat opponents... It would never be a recurrent theme. If they preferred to have a dedicated anchor, they go for Cypher because it's Nats comfort pick (and he still is the best in the world in that agent) and they work around it.
I LOVE FNC
FNC Vs. BOASTER IGL?
i feel like this video is just going on about how good fnc is and how bad TL is
They just got 200 IQ, that's it
To be fair , fnatic didnt guess or on the fly understood every move of TL.
TL already played this same comp multiple time and always did the same rotation : 3A 1B 1C . If no one push A , 2 rotate to C and 1 stay on A ( skye)
Fnatic just Vod review TL ass and just did the same thing on repeat.
TL failed to ajust.
Still big brain tho
it's clear that fnatic still top 1 worldwide and loud close top 2 (america in general looks stronger than EMEA, that is why they are losing so many maps, also, they are adapting)
I just hope they don’t go out like astralis in cs
i feel like i only got recommended this bc you said league of legends
just a question. at 2:25, i see theres no attackers watching mid, so why are they confident that no defenders will push up there?
in normally fnatic use turret for mid ,maybe TL thinks like that
Good catch! It's usually dangerous for defenders to push that lane because it goes right into exactly where attackers spawn.
Also as someone else mentioned that spot is almost 100% of the time reserved for a KJ turret but it's weird that Alfa doesn't use the turret for anything at the beginning of the round. Regardless defenders are definitely going to assume it's there and that it's pretty dangerous to push that lane especially solo.
Im a goofy goobr
Hi goofy goobr, I am Dad.
they play as a team not a 1 team player... they enjoy playing each other and their egos are..
You mention TL trying to flip the comp, but I don't buy it. The comp shift did not seem intentional, they didn't display anything in their comp that was objectively better. End of the day, their comp exists because nats is only comfortable with viper and cypher and unwilling to change, and that's going to cost them. Viper is no longer as dominant as she used to be. With Split and Bind back though, maybe they can make it work since those are good cypher maps along with Pearl, where TL are good.
That being said, it's no longer enough to be just mechnically skilled, you need to have that, plus be very flexible with your agent pool and also be on the cutting edge of the meta, where Fnatic are at the moment. Incredible amounts of research and data analysis are being incorporated by Boaster and Mini in their strats and mid round calls.
boaster more like goatster
proves that half armour isn’t op
@Sentinels learn something.
LOUD is better thou... but good video!
1 thing, STOP using vods of other match to help explain, it's wayyyyyy toooooo confusing
so effing slow. watch at 2x speed
