THANK YOU FOR WATCHING! - Sport
I am retired and love to fish in lakes and ponds. I love watching your show. I lost my fishing buddy, ( my brother) at 60 years old. You have become my fishing buddy and my fishing brother. Love your shows.
Sir you are my hero
I just got a 7 footer...can't wait to bow it up on some big shellcracker and bluegill.
I did the same thing today!
Hello.....Mr.Richard !! I'm right there with you on the Sam's Super-Sensitive. I have 2 of the 7' jig poles and I'm the same way....I talk these rods up and down !! They are an amazing rod for the money and sensitive....man can you feel a light bite !! New rod and reel ......and I caught my new personal best .....16,75" but did not weigh him !! I was so excited I packed up and left after I caught it !! It will be on my wall soon !! Best part is it was caught using a technique that I watched you use many times with a bait you used in this video. 2" slab tail /pink glow with a 1/32 ounce jig head working it slow back to me !! Thank you Sir for your love of the sport and the lessons that you teach here !! God Bless you and yours !!!
when he caught the crappie you can see the bite
Da man
I have the Sam Heaton Super Sensitive jig pole in a 10ft length, graphite, and like you, I love that rod. It is super sensitive, and makes every fish feel like a monster.
I use that rig in the fall for bass. I use zoom tiny flukes on a #2 offset worm hook by Gamakatsu. I use a second swivel above the first swivel so if you hook 2 they can swim their separate ways.
I only landed doubles once without them popping the bottom leader off. We got them coosa river spotted bass in Lake Norman and they mean! I caught a big 14 inch crappie in a bass tournament on that rig but just never thought to use it targeting crappie. Thanks Gene.
Just ran across this video again after some time since I last watched it. As always, lots of great info that is timeless. I thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge with those of us that don't really get the time to fish as often as we would like. It really does cut the learning curve back a lot. Thank you sir for all the info you put out. I really enjoy them. Eric.
I'll be watchn to see you try your new rig in the future .your videos are always awesome. tight lines!!! God bless...
You are so down to earth and I enjoy watching your videos!
You are my absolute favorite fisherman on CZcams
Whats a good dock to launch from to find crappie in Guntersville.. im a bass fisher but THE LEGEND got me all fired up to catch sum crappie.
Bought this exact pole three weeks ago and Richard is right. That pole is nice to use. I put a Diawa Legalis on it and you talk about a nice combo.
The Richard Gene hook set is one of the most beautiful actions I have ever seen any human perform. I will spend the rest of my life trying to emulate it.
When I retire, I want to be Richard Gene. Lol
Heck I wanna be RGFM now! A buddy of mine called him a God today. Lol! Idk how he doesn’t have more subs!
Don’t wait until retirement... live your hopes and dreams... you have no idea what tomorrow brings.
Be careful what you wish for Elmo and Gene are very close and do not social distance one or the other may have covid 😂😂😂
Have this exact rod. Love it!! Although I found that the balance was front heavy so I added a weighted butt cap. It moved the balance point to the center of the reel seat.
I'm the exact same way when I have an idea that I get fixated on. Absolutely love when they produce. I tried this technique with bobby Garland plastic and crushed the Crappie and the bass worked my nerves 🙄 lol they couldn't leave this rig alone. Nice video Richard
Easiest way to tie the best loop knot god bless you for that
I'm going to try the double jig. I love my nine foot jig pole. Thanks for all your learning. Love it.
Best show EVER!!!!!!!!! And feeding other fishery and showing them a tip!😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜😜
Thank you Richard Gene for the video I have been doing something like that for years on pan fish. Works great on Perch.
thanks i am going to try that on some white bass when they are topping
Just love learning new tricks from you Richard, thank you!
THANKS RICHARD GENE FOR THE GREAT FISHING TIPS
Never saw that rig in 67 years but i'll use it tomorrow when i go out for fluke here on longisland
Good segment Mr. Fishing Machine. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Richard Gene good stuff it's good fer me!
really pretty crappie
Nice your are the fishing machine no matter where you are at you can figure them out.👍👍👍👍
Them ACC green stix rods are better then the B’n’ M rods 10 ft
Richard you are by far my favorite fisherman on here. Thanks for your expertise on your crappie excursions. Very much appreciated
Yes sir mr. Richard is it ok to use braded wire 6 pound
Richard i recently got a 12' Crappie pole from a local tackle shop, and its the most sensitive Rod ive ever used. Its a little on the heavy side, but if you hold it under your forearm its like a feather. Whole combo costed about $35-40 Pretty cheap for how well its made. If you're interested in it its just a Mr. Crappie 12ft Combo
It’s telling to your character how modest you always are when approached by other fishermen. You may have a boat full, yet you will always self-deprecate. Much respect!!
Raw awesomely
What Richard's wife is thinking, "He's awefull quiet, I wonder what's wrong...? Did I say or do something?" What Richard is thinking, "I bet that double fluke rig will work on Crappie, I just need to down size it, I bet it'll work.. it has to. I need to try it." Love it. I go thru the same process in my mind!
Good one Richard! Noticed your using the slab tails a lot. Crappie love those jigs. I use the 1.5 and love them! Fish stalker makes a slab tail jig kit that is pricey but has everything in it. Thanks again!
Of the many things that amazes me about him is you could EAT of that boat ....
Holy Smokes!! Always knew there was a simple and easy way to do it,,,, now I know.. Man! UR ah real Gene-ius!! Ha, Ha.. Thanks RG!! God Bless,,
Working overseas,, can’t wait to get home and give it a try.. Take Care..
Awesome
PR fishing also uses a double jig with success. I like yours a lot. Thx for the insight. Dennis
Those reels came out in the early 1960s after his baseball career ended.
Richard, I enjoy your fishing videos & your personality. Keep it coming. Would you please give a few more details on your favorite Sam's super sensitive jig pole, eg, brand . I keep coming up
with B&M. Thanks, Gary
You are a very smart fellow....the way you have evolved this channel should be closely watched by aspiring you tubers. I really like how you are starting off in your fishing house or out around the boat with an explaination of what your rigs are and explaining the techniques. .......then going out on the water and putting your technique to work......then going all crazy at the end.....you are a genius sir.......my goodness I remember when there was just a couple of thousand subs.......cant leave without asking tho........have you ever tried to catch a fish on a tater masher? I believe you could sir ....that is as long as you tied it to the line with a dad burn loop knot.......enjoy every one of your videos.....keep em coming sir....please.
love the rig up...great setup..i use plastic jerkbaits for bass..but this is def. unique for crappie..gots to try it...woooo...haaawww...zeeeek...wooooo....fish on brother
It's gud fer ya!
Richard need an Amazone store.
Snell your line on the hook....use bait keeper hooks...then it would be a better setup...but...AWSOME IDEA BROTHER...gonna make me one to go with my new floating noodle bait bucket I made.
Much respect Mr. RGTFM. Hello to Momma Sue, and take care of each other.
Headed to wally world to get a couple of those poles right now! Thanks Mr. Gene!
Nice rod there. I love mine. Can't beat it for the money.
Good stuff!
This looks a great rig, looks real.
That rig is genius. I'm going to try it!
Great video Richard thanks again love it and I go fishing when I can
You are the man. 🎣🎣🎣
cool video , I'm gonna try this rig
I haven't been catching many off the rocks in Guntersville yet, maybe they will move up soon!
I tell you what I went fishing today and they just weren’t hungry I recon thanks for all your videos! Shoutout from Georgia
I never know what you will say but i click LIKE right after you say “good morning folks” !
They say an idle mind is the devil’s workshop. No chance he’ll get in yours because you’re always thinking up good ideas for catching them crappie. Great video my friend.
A while back I recommended that pole for ya Gene my brother and I use em religiously.....I have been using em 12 or 15 years at least and haven’t found a better one....Shakespeare makes a Dimension spinning real that pairs nicely with it..10 ball bearing for 30 bucks if you can find em these days...Good luck and welcome to the B’n’M SSS club.
My guess would be the 1950's. Ted retired in 1960 and he represented Shakespeare I believe. All those reels were wanabee Mitchell 300's, the greatest spinning reel ever made. Thanks Doc 1/5 Cav
Man , you are a genius.
Thanks for the explanations. That's a good video. Good luck with the double fluke!
Regular fishermen doing their thing- I Luv it-- KEEP ON KEEPING ON
Amazing Brother! You are amazing! Thanks for another great video! I'm gonna try that new rig here in the Ozarks!😀
I bought the 7ft version of that pole a few weeks ago and I really like it...it was 35 dollars at Wal Mart....now i got to get the 9-2 👍😂
I saw that you had alote of bad weather down there hope all is ok with you and you family and another grate vidio
I always have to leave a like and some sort of comment to the best fishing channel on CZcams. I'm going to use your loop knot from now on because the idea is a good one.
You not only catch fish when no one else is doing it you show us how to do it, too. Not too many fishing channels do that. It's what makes your channel so awesome. I'm still telling people about it.
Keep em coming, sir, and I'll keep watching 'em because…
Fishin' is good fer ye.
Thanks so much!
Git-er-dun.......... as always great video. Thanks for your info and entertainment
i would like to try that rig and see if it works for me. thanks for the great videos.
how to tell what size leader to to use
Good video as always uncle Gene!!!!!
Best fisherman I've ever seen. Well done RG! I'm talkin bout wooooooo!
Awesome rig😀👍🏼
We do that up here for white bass using a popping cork Brotha 👍🎣
looks like an old mitchell reel, had several when just a young un
Mr RichardGene - you are by far my favorite CZcams fisherman! I love your videos and appreciate the wealth of knowledge you share with your subscribers. This young man can’t thank you enough for all the pointers! If you’re ever in Middle TN, lets get together. 😊
i bet you could rig those bob by garland 2 inch baits the same way..or any other crappie plastic grubs or soft plastic baits..it would probaly work well with your favorite soft plastics..just my opinion.
What size of crappie pole is your favorite and is it a cork handle
U da man bubboe!!!
I found a bottle of gulp 1" fry looked like that white grub you had there. Paired it with a 1/32 oz yellow ball head jig...flat tore em up on a cloudy morning with a front movin through. Some times you gotta let the fish tell you what they want. We found that they wanted the smallest crappie minnows we had in our bucket so I decided I was going to give them tiny little fries. I didn't have to change baits. Just unhooked cast them right back out. With that Gulp, fish bite and won't let go LOL
So is it wrong if I use jigs with a slip bobber ? Is it better if i don't use slip bobber with jigs!
You are awesome. You should come to Florida to show my fishing buddy and I how to catch some crappie. We catch lots of different fish, never caught crappie before though.
Consider the 12 ft of that rod its light as well and you will have great reach
Nice rig setup Richard! If anybody can make it work it would be you. Don`t feel bad about loosing it. Cannot tell you how many small Bandit crankbaits I have lost in trees and stumps at 3 to 5 dollars a piece I had to stop using them.
Great video man. I like that double setup gonna have to give it a try.
The Yellow Creek bridge? Just got my place on Cowan Creek finished up and now am ready to do some catching!
I use that rig setup for trout okay but the hook I use is owner Featherlite books
Owner Featherlite hooks does what I use
I love it, I love it, I love it! Daggone man , I wanna go catch some Crappie ( or Newlites, is what the old fellars called them)! Another good un’ Richard!!
love your videos.but we have been doing this for years.it is a very good way to catch crappie.very good for pre spawn. great video.
Richard, new subscriber, I am getting a boat in 3 weeks similar to yours. I want to be a successful pan fisher especially Crappie. Thanks for all the instructions.
I am watching from the mountains of NC near Cherokee.
What would happen if you used a three way swivel and replicate the great action you have achieved? Have several pre-rigged as we all know that hang-ups and other issues occur. You are truly the best at what you do, I'm very pleased that I am able to watch and learn every time I see your videos. Thank You!
GREAT VID. AGAIN ELMO
Mister Gene that rig is a Flounder Magnet. We use it with a bucktail at the end then make a dropper loop 12" above it for the 2nd hook. We then tip the hook with gulp mullet. Deadly rig when we drag it on the bottom. Question for you. Do you think that stepping up to a 10# test leader for your rig will decrease the performance? Just the rig and keep your 4# test for the rest.
Nice new pole also. Great video.
I just came up on your vids and subbed....mostly because I love your endings!!!!
Man I learn do much from your videos! Keep it up sir!
I have some 11 ft. ACC Crappie Stix that are only 4.7 oz...
Thats a problem I ran into. Seems that the longer leader tends to find the fish and shorter one finds the "Fish Sicks" lol .I got to the point of rigging the shorter jig Texas-ish style. Worked fine. The double rig attracts a lot better than single,Plus most fish bit the main line jig! That Texas rig ish worked better than my other idea--using lighter line for the the short, fish stick finder. Thinking that I could just break the leader and save the rest...not so much success.
