You've excluded the BLAST ARM and higher level options for some of the arms (JEHUTY, for example). Also I don't think you included the required R&D team members which can be acquired during different missions.
It makes sense when snake uses his arm to block a machete strike from a Skull soldier. But whilst playing as a combat unit member you can see your character literally blocking a blade with bare hands XD

A golden bionic arm can be acquired either by downloading the save data from Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, with the main Ground Zeroes mission completed, or otherwise by purchasing it as paid DLC
BOSS Equip the arm instead of your pistol and then sprint towards somone and press the cqc button. Don't let go of the sprint button while doing this and only tap the cqc button, don't hold it.

Thunder strike is my favorite too, the only drawback is 12 seconds charge time.
