    Many banks offer pre-arrival online account opening services and accept one-time wire transfer for proof of funds purpose. That option could have been included. If this route is chosen, then the most ideal and cheapest option for moving the funds is wire transfer (forex card rates> TT rates, also no ATM withdrawal charges incurred).

    I don't want to be rude or something, but I found some of the information wrong.
    1. You cant carry all money in cash as you mentioned at 2:14. its illegal. India allows max 3000 USD or equivalent in cash for international travelers and up to 5000 USD after getting clearance from the customs. If you dont comply, you can get arrested under money laundering charges. Rest amount must be transferred through banking channels. While entering Canada you can take up to 10000 CAD per family without declaring it to customs. Anything above that will be seized and you will have to pay a penalty.
    2. Demand drafts are NOT obsolete, but travelers' checks are. You mentioned it at 4:42. I confirmed it from bank as well as from Western Union branch from Chandigarh that Travelers Checks are obsolete. I have no idea about Money Order which you mentioned several times.

    • @CanadianDreams
      @CanadianDreams  Před 5 lety

      We have mentioned in the video about RBI limit

    • @harman2008115
      @harman2008115 Před 5 lety

      Indian Customs guidelines are aligned with RBI guidelines. All these rules come under FEMA. You can google it. Moreover, Forex is a bad option for carrying money to Canada. Most of them won't work at ATMs. I just talked to a friend in Canada who work in a bank. He said people come to his bank daily complaining about forex cards. Even if it works, there is a daily limit of 500-1000 CADs depending upon which ATM are you using. Plus, the transaction will be charged from forex card issuer as well as the bank whose ATM you'll be using. It makes this option so much expensive than the Demand draft.

    • @harman2008115
      @harman2008115 Před 5 lety +1

      Varinder Singh there are two countries involved when you travel from india to canada. You will have to follow rules from both countries. India allows you to take CAD in cash which is equivalent to 3000 USD. Or upto 5000 USD after declaring it to customs. Canadian govt allows you to bring cash upto 10000 cad.
      My advice, bring less cash. Make demand draft in canadian currency. That are accepted by Canadian banks.
      There is no limit (~250k USD) from indian govt if you take money out of india through banking channels. In Canada you will have to declare your money to customs if you bring more than 10k cad in any form. But don’t worry, thats just a formality. You can bring as much money you want after declaring.

    Hi...I have found your channel quite informative for people like me, who are planning to move to Canada. I have gone through your all videos, and thanks a ton for covering each and every requisite topic with required material.
    This particular video has caught my attention as I was wondering how to bring my funds to Canada. You have described four options for this particular activity, and I concur with your suggestion of bringing funds in Forex card.
    My query is related to Forex card alternative. As I have heard if you withdraw money in Canadian ATM through Forex card then there is a limit and you are charged some dollors to do the transaction. I would appreciate if you could please throw some light on the transaction charges for using ATM for withdrawing money through Forex card.
    Thanks in advance for your response.

    Thank you for the valuable info :) . Also I have one query with regard to the forex card, when I checked with the banks over here in my country they allow to load the forex card with USD, EUR and GBP only. Will there be any issues in using the forex card or converting the funds to CAD? Will there be any other issues related to forex card since its not loaded in CAD.
