Because this is a capitalist country....Real estate is a marketing. So demand for California real estate drives up the median price to $834,000. The average rent in LA, SF, SJ, OAK and SD is $2800. Red States are not as in demand, so they are cheaper. Who wants to live in a fascist regime like Texas or Florida. GRIN

High inflation, high taxes, were taxed on everything and they create more ways to tax us. Newsom keeps making it worse puts fast food salary to 20 dollars an hour for fast food people. they are getting paid higher than most jobs like manufacturing or assembly. Rent is sooooo high. Gas, electricity you name it. We owe money by the billions on our state. Newsom gave illegal aliens perks , programs, welfare, medical etc. While legal citizens nothing. Even now as more illegals come in they have freebies. And illegals dont pay taxes..

@@TMendocino - Guess you've been sleeping while hundreds of thousands have been moving out of blue states like CA and NY driving up prices for real estate in FL, TX and TN. The most fascist states in the country showed their true colors during the pandemic and they were all blue states. They threw the constitution under the bus big time. CA, NY are true fascist states as they control everything to do with real estate, it's hardly a free market.

There’s already help for families, such as food stamps and section 8 assistance. As for the homeless, I would not give them a dime, only food and water. Helping a homeless is a lost cause because these people are on the street by choice. The Majority of them are addicts and will refuse any help, but sure they will take your money. Being homeless should be a hard life not a comfortable life. They need a reason to want to get out of being homeless.

To find anyone propose spending money to end homelessness is historic.
I am not sure how effective they will be.

If I will guess why now started to deal with this issue, I would think California and its cities are really sufferings and their business is moving to Texas, so they were forced to do something about it

The California deficit is growing and his demonstrated mis-management will only feed the homeless industrial complex taxpayer money. In the end the tax payer will be on the hook. "Affordable Housing" for whom. California is building all over the State. River Island in Lathrop California, 70 miles east of San Francisco has a Median new home price of $990,000. Is is sold out. Obviously that community is "AFFORDABLE" for those buyers. Master Plan Includes:
Approximately 4,905 total acres. Approximately 15,000 residences to be built over the next 20+ . years. Seven schools planned within the community.
You need to be honest, you want affordable for a certain socio economic group....those without work, drug addicted, mentally ill, low skilled...you can throw $20 billion and it will never solve this issue. Because you are not being honest with the public about the issue, this is a welfare programs. Call it what it is and you might get what you need.

Truth my friend. I'm disappointed that this pathway is so often ignored by those claiming to try to help. The churches are corrupt, they reject the poor and the homeless in favor of the Godless and the Mindless, just because they have Money. And the social services not only ignore Jesus, but they also actively discourage people from following Him. Clean living and hard work will save anyone, I cannot find a shelter that will support that path.
