Damn, I love Todd Snider so much it's hard to pick just one, Statistician Blues, Conservative Christian, The Ballad of the Devil's Backbone Tavern and the story of the ballad. Saw him open for John Prine and it was a magical night. But, I was a scoutmaster for many years and I taught my troop Beer Run, it became their trail song and they would sing it at the top of their lungs on the AT and caused quite a stir at Philmont Scout Ranch in 2006. The highlight of this one was the simple mention of Fred Eaglesmith though, there has to be some good stories floating around about him. I can listen to Trucker Speed on a loop for hours, makes me think of the same buddy.
When he started singin' the Dope song again, I started laughing loud because my volume was up and I'm high as a kite and knew the people at the dinner table heard it too lol.

There is my top 4 for today. Tomorrow it may be different, but Greencastle Blues will still top my list. I think.

Been hooked on Snider songs since that first record, I’m thinking Eddy Shaver played on it…pretty much every Snider song will bring a smile and a giggle. Not sure if it’s my favorite, but the classic grifter song “Easy Money” certainly captured my imagination. “Talkin’ Seattle Grunge Rock Blues” still cracks me up…still giggling

John Prine is absolutely an American treasure. Todd has a new album I just really like. It’s great. So everyone should definitely check it out.
