- The Cross RC XX10 T-Rex is finally finished! (well 90%!) but that's close enough. Gotta be the World's Biggest RC Car (12th Scale). It's cost me roughly $5000 to build, so it's certainly the most expensive RC I have ever owned!

You have cured me from ever wanting to build that😅
Amen.
100%
Nope I am looking forward to it. Nice problems to have. I was actually looking to build something to take all the other RC's to the park. Almost got a TRX6 AMG to transform into a James Bond vehicle. This is the Ultimate train wagon/engine to bring all those plus a couple adults
When you have to record a build and plan a video etc.. it’s way more work than just building. I can imagine doing the build with no pressure to complete would actually be a bit more satisfying
I'm all for the model building portion, even if it takes weeks.
But an internal driveline failure with gentle, mostly flat surface driving? That is truly unacceptable for the price.
This video literally put me off from this purchase, clearly precision Chinesium engineering at work lol
It's bit surprising, as other Cross RC models are pretty top notch.
The negligence of the designer does not detract from the skill of the builder. Very nice project, have been looking forward to seeing the final video and i wasn't disappointed. Bravo Phil
Awesome project mate, can't wait to see it really finished!
Its so refreshing to see someone like yourself, the expert, tackling a decent project. The "here's the latest RC" video's are enormously useful to buyers, but most of us are only buyers once or twice a year, if we're lucky. The rest of the time we're either building what we bought, or modifying what we bought. To see you hitting problems with a project and seeing how you tackle those problems, it's not only enormously useful, but it's reassuring to see even the experts hit problems.
Thanks mate. Appreciate the feedback. I enjoy opening a fresh new RC Car, but I'm also getting bored of the same thing over and over again. I have a nice list of projects, including some scratch built stuff, so hoping to get some more interesting stuff out over the next few months
Thank you, Phil, for going through the anguish so that we don't have to. You've neatly highlighted the design and packaging flaws while letting us share some of the pleasure of playing with something which demands so much money, time and effort.
Thanks Del. It’s been a journey that’s for sure! But now the main part is complete, I can slowly improve stuff and upgrade/modify it. Hopefully a long term build that will get better watch time 👌
@@TomleyRC I had assumed that it would get good watch time as it's a desirable but unattainable kit.
Haven’t seen your channel in a long time and you didn’t let me down, I have a vid idea , you should review the mn82 lc79 it’s a really cool dirt cheap crawler and it has nice upgrades
I was just about to comment on the tubes expanding for the hydraulics while watching when you said exactly what I was thinking! Awesome build! It really takes a lot of patience and know how to assemble something so massive and amazing! My hats off to you and much respect! Great video and build! Cheers from Ohio (USA)!
That is just insane. Gorgeous build, but nothing I'd ever consider owning. Thanks for the honest showing, super impressive work you did.
Skatepark time! 😮
That thing is killer!
Thanks for sharing it with us!
Why would you want to take it to the skatepark?
@@Sidecharacter1912 because idiotism is a diagnose lol :))))))))
Haha
It's a joke peoples... :p
@@Sidecharacter1912it think he is being sarcastic obviously
Super glue/crazy glue is your friend when it comes to bonding painted parts. You can also scrap off the paint from the points of bonding with an xacto knife, then glue. Regular model glue, as you now know, won't cut it.
I saw one of these where the girl fitted a servo to lift the front guard up enough to clear any obstacle and down when on smooth terrain. she also put all the wiring that goes front to rear inside drinking straws painted black.
The problem is, it’s fixed on the chassis. So to make it move you have to remove the main support bars. So although it’ll lift up and down, it’ll not have anything to support it other than the winch lines
@@TomleyRC Been thinking about that. If those tube are hollow maybe some one can assist with a twin screw assembly for that piece that comes of the lower chassis ? providing clearance when lifted! I am still looking for options
When do toys stop being toys are start becoming an engineering project!?
Nicely done. Saved me a fortune. 😂
When it's a hobby build and not a toy lol 😂
Pretty crazy rig huh
That thing is an absolute monster! It makes the CrossRC 8x8 look tiny in comparison!!
With all the issues you're having, it's almost like the company has never built one of them, themselves!!
Giving it to someone and telling them, "build this, and tell us what the problems are", rather than having customers facing those issues would surely be a business plan?
Either way, it's awesome, and watching the build videos has been fun. Can't wait to see the carnage at EAST!! 😎👍🏻
Muki and CrossRC seem to be in bed together
This build´s videos are always SUCH a treat. Thanks for all the time, effort and money you've put on it and for not giving up on it!
So the torque from 2 motors is transferred into shafts and #2 metric screw is doing the work.
It's a great shelf queen it seem...
Yeah, lots of torque and 50kgs of truck to power. Hoping it was partly due to my throttle bouncing while on an incline
@@TomleyRC and you kinda used it as a skateboard for a moment😄.
Jokes aside, great work my friend!
I'm an experienced model builder and can share the way I paint stuff.
I generally pre-paint body panels, then scrape the paint off only where glue is to be applied at contact points. It's critical for proper adhesion of parts. Some things, such as that visor that scootched down on you, I'd use cyanacrylate cement (super glue) for instant adhesion. That rig looks great on camera, good job.
Yeah, I think I’ve learnt my lesson haha
Incredible undertaking. Thanks for bringing us along for the journey so far. Overall, it's absolutely impressive!
Episode 4: ROSSA 200mph club challenge 😁
Jokes aside, that thing looks like a nightmare to build. Respect for you actually finishing it. I bet most of these kits are still partially built collecting dust on shelves👊 👍
Haha… I think there’s a 25kg weight limit for Rossa 😅
Very enjoyable video series. Thanks Phil. Keep going, don't give up on it, we want to see it finished just the way you want it to be. I know you'll get it done!
Amazing!!! Thanks for putting in the effort to show us. Love the unusual sound the drivetrain was making.
Hi Phil, nice to see you finally finishing the land train. It looks amazing and your attention to detail is spot on. You could definitely see this being used in a Mad Max film. 😊
Yes, a big relief to finish 👌
@@TomleyRC Close!
It's really gorgeous and so much work.
Don't forget the speed run.
Ah Phil! It happens to the best of us, when a man gets to a certain age the hydraulics just can't get the barrel up! 😂
That thing is just bananas. I don't even know how else to describe it.
This has been an amazing build. I admire your patience. It looked great outside running. You've probably consider this. I know in the UK they have meets or shows where people bring out their large scale trucks and drive them around. I think this would be a big hit at one of those. This a great project.
Yes, I think once it’s completely finished I’ll be taking to a few places
The truck is a monster. Definitely a one-of-a-kind build as I doubt many people have one. You are the first CZcamsr I have seen with one at least. After this thing, one of those ArmorTek 1/6 scale tanks seem like they would be a breeze to build.
That thing would be amazing during the zombie apocalypse, and yes the zombie clearing bumper is practical Sir!
You've done a great job with this build, and I've got to say it doesn't look like an easy one!!
But it does look really awesome and I can't wait to see the final product.
And I just wanted to say thank you for all the effort you have gone through to try and film the whole process.
Awesome content 💯💯💯
Thank you. Appreciate the support 🤟
. Thank you for all the videos on that beast. Have a great time a that east event. Can't wait for more videos.
Pure chaos to make
Dangerous to handle
Only somebody with ur skills an determination could have gone this far looking forward to seeing to sound adjustments ❤
DAMN, thats a busy truck. Thanks for doing the work so I don't have to. Great vid, thx Phil
Epic build Phil, well done that man. Very cool truck, but having trouble getting my head around £5000. Man that's a lot of dash... anyhow great video thanks for sharing. John
Yes, it’s a huge amount of money. $5000, so just over £4000. I’d not have bought it if I didn’t have a CZcams channel
Very much looking forward to viewing this evening. It might actually make me get on with my B36 project...
😇
Brilliant review genuine hard graft there. Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant really enjoyed the video. Can’t wait to see more with this massive truck.
"50kg RC trail land train"
I think its a perfect description! 😅
I'm living the dream of building and owning one through here as I could never afford one... Thank you for sharing your experience Phil!
I do think it has a couple of issues that are not acceptable at it's price point. Still an awesome behemoth rig. What a dream!
Couldn't you drive with that fork thing slightly raised? Or maybe its illegal...? 😂 To bad it had to go, it does look good.
Loved watching the build and love the result, but I don't have the patience to do it myself. Great vid Phil and thanx for your efforts.
Well done. This build is mind blowing. Respect for getting it running 👍✌🏼
That thing looks incredible. It would be great to see it at a truck show.
LOOKS SO AWESOME!! Your hard work sure paid off!! 😎👍
That’s soooo dang cool! Nice work!
Such a beautiful machine! Kind of sad it broke, but hopefully we can see it again soon.
The truck is absolutely fun to drive and built. There is a lot of modifications that has to be done. The hydraulic system also took me a while to do.
Job done, looks awesome!
The more work you put in, the more satisfaction you get out
Yes, I think over time it will become a love hate relationship😅
amazing build! wow!! looks amazing! congrats on getting this beast perfectly built, mate!
Thanks dude
You have to be a freaking rocket scientist to get that mt12 working 😂. Days of headaches but neet de range though 😅.
Great video mate! Love that beast!
Such an epic build. Well done !
I hope to see more fantasy style RC vehicles. That's so cool. Very authentic channel. Forgetting the rear lights is exactly the kind of thing I would do.
The soft hose is definitely most of, if not all of the problem with your hyd pressure. On a real machine the hose is steel braided to eliminate as much expansion as possible and they use pipe for long runs
That thing cost more than my latest family car.
That thing brings joy. Period.
Awesome build, great commitment, many lessons to learn and well worth the effort in the long run 🤙🤙
Ez paint glue fix.
Use small pieces of tamiya tape on areas that will need parts glued on before painting the shell.
This leaves bare area of cured paint underneath the trim pieces..
That things a beast! Awesome build.
Cheers dude
Holy crap that's a beast Phil! Looks awesome and if we're mine I quite like the noise it makes on its own I wouldn't bother with the sound kit!
Yes, I think it’s actually got a nice sound with the belt drive. Smoked the sound kit… so it’s going without now anyways haha
@@TomleyRC so sorry to hear about that buddy good luck with that beast!
Such an amazing beast ! What a great build
Great work, Phil! I understand your frustration with so many parts and things mislabelled etc. Can’t wait to see you run it at the club meet.
Way cool sir. I've loved watching the details.
I got a tip for the body fixation you worry about the fact that they are just glued on.
Now they are glued, you can weld them.
If you got the plastic mold where the part was fixed, then take some of the "plastic tube" and use it as a solder. Use a soldering iron and smelt the plastic of the body and the body fixation and add some platic to it (not to hard to not go through).
I used to do this for fixing the part that need to be glued in a hole. if the hole is through, the I smelt the two part to weld them. It's way more efficient than glue but it can be a problem since it cannot be detach, if the part got to more hit, it broke instead of just getting loose.
That front scoop would be good if you were making a course because then it would kind of help level off the areas for the other vehicles that can’t quite make it that would be cool. Use it like a tool.
You're a brave man, Phil. This is a giant undertaking!
2:18 one tip for an indoor paint booth, if you have a box fan even better but an overspray extractor can be a shop vac with a bag. The overspray will stick to the bag and not everywhere. If you want to get rid of the fumes you could use a charcoal filter or an N95 mask filter.
One thing about the shopvac that you have to watch for: flame outs. The motors spark and if you get fume build up WOOSH (ask me how I know? haha)
After having 2 small fires today in the shop, I think I’ll stick to breathing in the fumes 😅
@@TomleyRC come on, where's your bravado? It's always a thrill to see flames shoot out 3 ft from a shop vac!
Wow you have been working hard on this rig. The gun is so smooth. I think you deserve a Master electricians license for all the wiring you did. The truck looks incredible. 🏆
Amazing job Phil, well done!
That is amazing I love the paint job. That was alot of work but looks worth it.
A once in a lifetime project, I can imagine. It looks so cool. When the lights flick on for the first time I was in awe!
I really hope you get the issues sorted out, so we can see it 100% finished and in full glory! (...and so you can finally leave this cool but frustrating project behind you 😅)
Yes but at this price, Cross Rc should have added Bluetooth light controller, or dim-able options as standard, with BB turrets
Agreed 😂 What would be even more awesome is if they'd include a cannon flash en smoke feature.
This thing is an absolute beast. Looks killer. Amazing machine! Even though you had a broken screw it looks like nothing will stop it
Fellow RC nerds relating to having no friends to help move heavy stuff! 😂 Love it!!
Your "dystopian style battle truck" is really a great idea. Very original, you should create other vehicles with this style. The front bull bar is very nice but I think it's a little low 😄. Maybe you need a mechanism that raises and lowers it. A bit like on the War Rig in Mad Max Fury Road
Thanks for your content. It is very informative.
What a massive project. Well done. 😊
That thing is incredible!
Love these build videos. Cheers!
Thanks mate
Truck looks sick at the end! Hope you are taking you’re time and enjoy the process instead of stressing because of the viewers.
I have been taking my time. Although today’s smoke show was a little unplanned 😅
Honestly Phil this is the sickest build I've ever seen! Cheers my brother! 😎🇨🇦
What an effort sir. Great rig!!!
Amazing ... looking forward to the next video
Dude you out did yourself this time tomley this is a masterpiece I'd love to try and build something like this it's bad ass and home built good job congrats man
Love this video thanks for another great one
Well done!
Indicators should be linked to steering though! :D
I’ve built some hydraulic Rc stuff and you definitely need nylon tubing for the high pressure side, the pressure will blow anything less over time and performance will improve with the nylon tubing on the high pressure side.
Awesome Job Phil that thing is wicked cool. I love it .
Wow that is amazing, would love a go with that, great video again Phil
Absolutely epic build!
The tamiya glue, unlike normal glue, actually melts the plastic together. It's why you can only use it on bare plastic because it doesn't work on the paint properly
Ohhhhh well that explains a lot 🫣
That beast is a work of art. Awesome.
Looks amazing
It's a beast. It moans. It's a wonderful build. The grill? Thingy on the front was called in north America a "cow catcher". Your monster is too cool. 🎊🥳🤣🎉
For models I try to glue as much as possible and paint it masked off. Some times you have to scratch the paint off to glue fiddly bits.
Absolutely unreal build !
Awesome build Phil, I won’t be attempting one anytime soon 😂. See you and it at EAST 😊
Awesome build
Amazing job! Congratulations for finishing it 👍
Thanks Victor that is a very interesting car
cut a hole in a cardboard box and stick a hair dryer in it. Put the box over the parts and turn on the hair dryer. Parts dry in minutes.
What a build! Things a masterpiece mate!
Such an insane rig! Looks really good!
21:12 that rake at the front will come in handy to de-thatch your lawn!!!!
its nice when the sacrificial part is something nice and easy, good design.
Awesome rig 💯
She looks amazing please keep us updated. 🫡
I already have a part 4 started 👌
