Excellently explained, especially the 6L explanation, only missing that the designer/creator of the three grand seiko principles, Taro Tanaka, designed the 093, not everyone appreciates the beauty of a grand seiko, but it is evident in the 093. Looking forward to seeing mine soon.
Great review thanks. Seiko finally issued the correct iteration of 62MAS after releasing so many limited editions with different dials etc. Only downside is the lume pip at 3 imho. Now i feel happy for missing the sla017 release.
Very, very nice pieces. Seiko gets some criticism for their pricing. I don't know if it is always justified or is partly because they make such a range of very affordable pieces to real luxury watches. I have not handled these models but even a model like one of the spb3* slim turtle recreations is well executed. It really feels like time travel when you open the box with the true vintage feel but with modern specs. Great under the radar, relaxed timepieces that mostly only other watch nerds would notice.
Nice breakdown. I still prefer the SLA017 because of the larger dial real estate, as this one looks a bit cluttered in comparison. But I can see the appeal for folks with smaller wrists.
Great review and collection. However, if your going to spend the high prices to get 62mas reissues, you should try to get the original 62mas for a true comparison. I had a chance to get an original when they were easily available and reasonably priced, about 6 years ago, but didn’t pull the trigger. Now they are hard to find in good working condition and are out of my price range. 😢
I have the sla043 , and love the deep blue face and baby blue seconds hand. I have a 7.5 wrist so the new one would be a bit small for me. The sla043 was more expensive new , but it does have the everbrilliant steel . Im not sure why seiko didnt do this steel on the new model ? Maybe they wanted to keep the price down ? A lot of people think they are overpriced, but if you own one , then you realise the quality is just amazing . The only real gripe is the expensive movements should be regulated at this price point. Mine gains about 2/3 mins a week , which annoys me compared to my tudor bb , which might be 3 seconds out !!! Both were around the same price new, but the seiko feels more special , high end. Im unsure why you keep all 3 models as the new one is a better size for your wrist ? I still think seiko could have made these originally in 2015 , in sizes 38 , 40 and 42mm , with a bracelet that had an adjustable clasp , and in different colourways , and a regulated movement for say 3k . It would have competed with the omega 300, and been half the price of a rolex submariner , which nobody can get retail . The 62mas design is just perfect, and i feel seiko have missed a massive opportunity to get their high end pieces out to the masses , as their flagship diver !!! Seiko had the chance to really make this a stand out model for everyone , like tudor have with the bb line , but they pissed about making limited editions !!! Is the next one going to be an exact replica, ie 37mm , with an aluminium bezel , bla bla bla, and charge 4k ? Seiko need to employ a few westerners , who really know what people want , and maximise models from their incredible history , into 2moros classics !!!
Believe it or not but the larger size ones still fit my wrist perfectly as well! I love the fact that they have the 8L beating inside of them and just the fact that the original strap is different as well let's me enjoy all variations without feeling overkill. I also love the BEAMS collab one for the black dial as it totally changes the look of the watch. Enjoy!
So you’re saying that the 6L in the 62 is different than the 6L that they put in the KS reissue, the Laurel Alpinist reissue, and the LE snowflake Presage? I think it’s the exact same movement. And it has been around for several years now, it’s just not been utilized as much as other Seiko movements. Anyway, the grey dial 62 MAS are my all time favorite Seiko/GS watch. I still would prefer the 017 due to the larger size.
This is a 6L37 not 35 like ksk reissue and the baby gs sje073. It’s specifically for made for a dive watch because supposedly it’s more shock resistant and sturdier…
Nice and the price is not the real issue . That cheap metal keeper with Seiko branding and sharp edges is my main gripe . Why can’t they just do rubber keepers? I mean top strap companies like Rubber B and Everest do rubber keepers , so there must be a reason ? Even Citizen understood that . Duh.
This is the first time I've heard of this complaint to be honest with you. I never had any discomfort from the metal keeper but maybe they will incorporate a rubber keeper soon.
I have and have purchased in Japan but also still have ties back there where I can get it shipped to me if I want to purchase. Other than that, there is ebay or chrono24.
Yep the price is hard to swallow…..getting into Tudor territory. They should have made a bracelet for this and included the rubber strap. It is nice though….There will always be something to complain with Seiko….but the 62mas line is still one of the nicest looking divers on the market imo.
I have one on my wrist, and it isn't overpriced IMO. If you handle one, or own one, you'll get it. People like to compare it to Tudor, yet those who own both seem to prefer the Seiko, myself included. Yes, it's pricey, but I think the issue is that when people think of Seiko, they think of SKX type watches, which are great in their own right, but the higher end Seikos are in a different league.
@@jeffswing281 that's the problem with Seiko as a brand. Tudor, Omega, and especially Rolex do not offer budget models. It's like paying $2k for a Casio. The image they have is budget, attainable, and accessible. I'm not knocking the watch, I love it. Just the price is bizarre for the branding.
I love the time spent on packaging especially when the box is this faithful to the original. Thanks for including it in your review. Makes me appreciate this watch even more!

Have the SLA017. Really like the polished rehaut, as it sets off the dial so well.
see that's why I can't get rid of it. Basically same watch but still so many differences!

Really great explanation and presentation of these wonderful skin diver homages. Definitely going hunting for one of these or the 017.
Thx

Outstanding feedback and analysis!! Thank you 🍻
I love this watch I am planning to get it
Perfect watch, I have it and I love it
I'm also very happy with it!

Fantastic and congrats my friend.

The 6L is actually a Credor movement
I want Seiko to make the SJE093 version a regular production version.
Not exactly the same but pretty similar, the new marine master remakes.

are you sure this is connected to GS in the polishing/movement? I haven’t read that anywhere.
They’re made in the GS factory
@@RabbitWatchShop where is this information on the net? I couldn’t find anything.
@@d.kashani Titan of Escapement and Watch, who’s a Seiko wizard, revealed that information. He owns the watch and many other Seikos
Great review! Congratulations! Are you sure it is assembled at Grand Seiko factory?

Just that SLA017 has better strap, anyways seiko diver tend to have really long straps
I though the bezel was in ceramic in this new version. It is not?
🇧🇷👏
Yeah I'm not sure tbh I don't think it is
I mean, I just watched a review where it tested at 0 seconds, and you didn’t test it at all. How do you know what the standard deviation is, exactly?
Is the 6L made in Grand Seiko factories like the 8L?
Yes, that is what I’ve heard.

you didnt check the bezel action
Ah I knew I forgot something! I can confirm it is good!
bro, do you still use the maki e watch box? how are you liking it so far?
Just using it mainly as decoration, beautiful as always!
How do you get your seiko watches from Japan you live there or
Chronos24 website
I have and have purchased in Japan but also still have ties back there where I can get it shipped to me if I want to purchase. Other than that, there is ebay or chrono24.
$3500.00. Insane in da membrane! Insane in da brain!
cheaper than the SLA017 at the time
would buy with a bracelet.
but they aren't.
The best part of any vintage re-creation watch is.....the box. 🙄That detail makes this watch a $3500.00 watch. For sure. 🙄 😂
To each their own. Thanks for watching!

Exactly, we have variety for a reason
Three and a half grand--hard pass.
