For example, the head of the hammer can be made from an aluminium disc 28cm in diameter and 6mm thick with a weight of 1 kilogram. And what that is going to do is deflect and slow rounds down before they hit the brigandine. In contrast, a shield sword is going to be a bit more heavy but it will do a slightly better job. And with 6mm thick aluminium it can be 18cm wide 65cm long and have a weight of 1.9kg. you could even make a 0.6kg hilt and hand guard on the shield sword as a counter balance.
