  • This is our biggest Zetor tractor that we still have on the farm. We purchased a total of 3 Zetors for our farm between 1985 and 1997. Two of those we had sold but always kept our biggest the Zetor 16145 one of the largest tractors Zetor made in the late 80s.

Neat one. Thumbs up. You have the "turtle"/"rabbit" lever at the wheel. Use "rabbit" only as motor has at least 1200 rpm. It is a hidraulic clutch, pretty easy to burn the plates. The pressure gotta be 10 bars on this clutch. Rgds from Hungary

If you will allow a little history.
ZTS (ZŤS) is the logo of factories in Slovakia, so the part of Czechoslovakia which exist at that time behind the Iron Curtain. ZŤS is an abbreviation of "Závody Ťažkého Strojárstva", so translated into English it is Heavy Engineering Works. Their main production program was the production of tanks, howitzers and auxiliary tracked vehicles for the needs of the ČSĽA (Czechoslovak People's Army) and for export to the countries of the Warsaw Pact and friendly countries, together with an assortment of products of Soviet manufacturers.
From the beginning after World War II they were T34-85 tanks, later T-55, BMP-1, BMP-2 called BVP1 and BVP2 (Bojové Vozidlo Pechoty -Infantry Fighting Vehicle) and from about the mid-1970s T-72, Dana and Zuzana 152mm howitzers on a Tatra chassis 8x8 and auxiliary tracked vehicles such as a rescue tank and for engineers with a pontoon bridge and also an 8x8 armored personnel carriers, in the 80s also demining equipment on tracks and wheels.
For civilian use and also because of an attempt to confuse NATO, the ZŤS produced, in addition to tractors under the Zetor brand, they also produced cable excavators of the type D-030, D-032A on the chassis of Tatra 6x6 trucks T111 and later T138.
This was replaced in the early 1970s by the Satur telescopic excavator on the Tatra 138 chassis and later on the Tatra 148 chassis, the improved model was called the UDS110 (Univerzálny Dokončovací Stroj - Universal finishing machine) and with the end of the Tatra148 production in the late 1970s the UDS110 was mounted on the Tatra 815 chassis, an improved version of the excavator in the mid-1980s it was named UDS114 and is still produced today on Tatra chassis, as well as others, and also under license in the Russian Federation on Ural and Kamaz chassis.
ZŤS also produced the DH-112 wheeled excavator on its own 4x4 chassis, LKT forestry wheeled tractors and various types of wheel loaders, from the smallest UNC-060 which is 4-wheel mini skid loader, various versions of which were later also produced in the Russian Federation under license as MKSM-800 and so on.
Today, this ZTS factory is called "Way Industry" and offers "Locust" series wheel loaders.
Zetor is the logo of the Czech tractor factory of the former Czechoslovakia.
The name Zetor is an abbreviation composed of "Zet" and "tractor", where "Zet" is the declination of the letter Z as "Zbrojovka - Armor" shortened from the name ČZ (Česká Zbrojovka - Czech Armor), which still produces firearms from pistols, hunting rifles, assault rifles and submachine guns and the period of socialism also produced ČZ motorcycles.
Among the most famous products are the ZB-26 light machine gun even before World War II. (1926), which after modification to the ZB-36 and ZB-39 became a BREN light machine gun via license produced in Enfield U.K.
After the war, it was first the SA-26 (SA vz26) submachine guns, which after modifications in Izrael, became the predecessor of the Uzi submachine gun, later as a response to the AK-47 ČZ developed the SA-52 with Czechoslovak amunition and after SA-58 (SA vz58) assault rifle with soviet ammunition 7,62x39mm and the UK-59 light machine gun (UK vz59 Universal machine gun) with soviet ammunition 7,62x54R, SA vz.63 Skorpion submachine gun for paratroopers and secret policefor 7,65mm browning (.32AUTO), later 9mm Luger (parabelum), and it is also worth mentioning the CZ-75 pistol for 9mm Luger and later .45ACP, which in various modifications is still produced today under the known US brand CSG (CzechoSlovak Group) owned by today also the Colt factories and several American ammunition manufacturers.
So, Zetor was created after the nationalization of ČZ as a factory for the development and production of tractors, initially for the domestic market and later also for export.
After the fall of the socialist system in 1989, most of the ZŤS factories, successfully or less successfully, had to reorient themselves from military to civilian production, and some of them disappeared. There were several reasons, but the main one was that the former friendly countries had nothing to pay and some of them became enemies, so once large factories feeding half of Slovakia were privatized and sold off.
So only factories for the production of excavators and loaders survived. People working in defunct factories left for work in Germany or found work in automobile companies that were gradually established in Slovakia, such as VW, Peugeot, KIA and Land Rover, and a number of small companies as their subcontractors, such as ZF, Delphi...
In the Czech Republic, the Zetor, Tatra factory almost went bankrupt, and thanks to the help of local entrepreneurs, it is developing again, but very slowly.
The ČZ motorcycle brand has disappeared, as has the Manet motorcycle brand under the Jawa brand in Slovakia.
The original car manufacturers in Slovakia also disappeared as TAZ, BAZ, Tatra, LIAZ and in the Czech Republic the Škoda was sell to VW, but the brand did not disappear, but the diesel locomotive manufacturers ČKD, the gearbox and truck manufacturer Praga and Avia disappeared, the bus manufacturer Karosa was bought by Iveco, and the truck manufacturer LIAZ disappeared , who was Škoda's daughter.
This is how 90% of our industry went bankrupt from 1990 to 2000 (from clothing and shoe manufacturers to nuclear reactor and turbine manufacturers, semiconductors and electronics producers under concern Tesla brand) and mostly not because of low quality, but because of the "certificates" that Western Europe issued only to its own manufacturers.
So now is same situation the entire industry of Europe and the USA is facing the same fate in competition with the Chinese, Russian and Indian industries.
And we must and want will join the Russians again, because we remember the old days and the EU gives us no other option.
