You should off talked to the girl that said he hated his uncle and she saw him after the murder. You would of probably got more leads. And to me it sounds like he was abused by his uncle

He definitely looks depressed and not ‘scary’. I feel like no one is talking about the fact that in almost every photo he’s got a beer in his hand or is drunk at a party. Seems like a pretty good indicator of him trying to cope with something maybe abuse? The fact he didn’t talk about his personal life to anyone seems like it could indicate that.

Maybe he wasn’t always laughing or smiling because he was dealing with something internally or at home. He might have had a soft spot for shane because he could sense that he was also struggling with something. If something was going on at home or with his Uncle, kirk may not necessarily be ready to disclose that.

Kids who kill their family members generally have been abused in one way or another, all his photos appeared to show a very depressed young man. Not speaking about family or friends is a give away that he either doesn't have positive relations with either, either not being able to trust people enough to get close to them, or to keep them from finding out his personal life. He was obviously troubled but never sought out help and that ended up spilling over to this event. It's not as uncommon as you think.

I think it's very obvious that the uncle must have raped him for years, when Kirk still was a child. And if that's true, then the uncle definitly deserved what he got.
At Part 1: 3:20 "he [the uncle] loved you so much..." Yeah... a little "too much", you know.
And I bet the parents were not paying close enough attention or they would have noticed something is off. He must have tried not to encounter his uncle again after the first rape, but his parents didn't listen.

I'm very pleased to hear the compassion and understanding in the comment section. I too agree with this Theory. I have a feeling Shane did also but it would have been very risky of him to go any further in this direction. To start accusing a Deadman of molesting his nephew is opening doors for a lawsuit. My guess is Shane decided to just move on. I notice this young man it's up for parole in 2026. That seems relatively early so I think that special circumstances were put into consideration. Hopefully he has received treatment while he was on the inside and if he is released has a chance to build a life for himself.

I'm fairly certain Kirk's uncle abused him as a child. Something probably triggered his trauma that night and he just went ape shit on dude. I wish he had been able to explain his frame of mind, but I absolutely think he was protecting whoever helped him carry the body to the car.
I believe he caught the uncle abusing another family member and snapped. But that's just my theory

I agree 100% with any of these theories. The pictures that we are seeing of the dark side of him we're of a young man that was being sexually abused. He would have been feeling enormous anger, powerlessness and fear. Shane telling the story of how he protected him when he was being teased or hurt by the other kids was proof positive he was not a sociopath or a psychopath. He wouldn't have even been able to relate to what Shane was feeling and he obviously could. I have a feeling that Shane sensed that there was something going on with this boy as well. Well I hope he is released in 2026 he'll still be a relatively young man and will have a chance at a future that I personally feel he is entitled to. Hopefully he has used his time on the inside to seek help, get treatment and do some healing. What a terribly sad story. Isn't it amazing what has happened in Shane's life since he dropped this video and today which is the day after his makeup line was released. Only in the world of CZcams.

I feel like this is definitely a molestation thing because honestly all of these things, like the quietness, the lack of emotion, but still having empathy, that’s...pretty spot on to how sexual abuse victims act when they haven’t received support or are still being abused.

I agree. I don't know anything about the sexual abuse side but I'm thinking there was abuse of some kind. If he was secretly struggling with that in his private life, he seems to have been pretty strong to still be able to be social at all, living with that kind of trauma.
Plus with everyone saying the uncle was such a great guy... I hate to say it but it kinda fits. I mean, if it's not true then it's a horrible thing to say about someone but, well, at this point we just don't know.
Gazpacho Soop honestly all the talk about how the uncle was a great guy and the RIP even just...freaks me out. Like, I just have this deep feeling that the uncle did something horrible to this guy, and if his family was unsupportive to the point of possibly ignoring the warning signs and still insisting that the uncle’s a good guy...and that he didn’t defend himself at all? CSA survivors don’t feel like they deserve justice. CSA survivors feel like it’s their fault. And if a child (which, even as a teenager, he still counts as a child) is told by their abuser not to tell, that no one will believe them, that THEY are the ones at fault...it’s hard for victims to get past that. The fact that he didn’t even try to plead his case just proves that for me.
Edit: I say CSA because that’s what I know about best, but a lot of this could still be child abuse without any sexual abuse involved. If he was open to drinking with friends, and that loss of control, that’s evidence it might not be sexual, since sexual abuse victims sometimes have issues with the loss of control and things that cause it (like drinking/drugs, etc,) while general physical and emotional abuse victims tend to be more likely to abuse those things
I totally thought the same thing and wanted to comment about this on the last video, I feel like maybe the uncle molested or somehow abused him behind closed doors when he was younger.. and he never told anyone thinking that his family wouldn't believe him or maybe he felt ashamed/embarrassed (even tho he was the victim). A lot victims of sexual abuse are afraid to speak out . Idk but this explanation would make the most sense thus far since there hasn't been a lot of evidence released or reasoning. Traumatic events can cause people to snap over time and maybe once he grew of age he took matters into his own hands and killed him

Visit him in jail. You will have to write him first and be put on the visitation list. I think he was being molested by the uncle, thus his facial expressions and the desire to help others who are victims.

I agree. Taking a plea deal means you HAVE TO admit guilt. It can also mean you don't spend as much time locked up as if you were to be convicted by Jury Trial. Sometimes, even innocent people, get locked up just to avoid a longer sentence if the Jury fails to see your innocence.

He pled guilty, didn't have a jury, and didn't say anything else about it because he was ashamed of and didn't want to admit to being abused... its so sad that his family hasn't come Kirk's defense and do something either when the abuse occured or now when their baby is in jail for having to protect himself from his abuser.
His forced smiles, inability to connect with others, need to keep his personal life private, and empathy for Shane (someone he sees is also being victimized) are all signs this poor kid's traumatizing past.
I'm so surprised the parents are just allowing their son to rot in jail. What kind of parents don't fight for their children?

You can't tell anything from looking at pictures. You can say the same thing about Shane's or anyone else's pictures on Instagram. It's easy to do after the fact. Hindsight is 20/20.
There is not one photo in my high school yearbooks where I'm smiling. I don't feel like killing anyone, probably myself but idk.

Honestly because he didn’t have any emotional reactions to pain and that is a sign of abuse but he still cared for people like Shane so he might have been abused mentally or sexually by his uncle or saving someone else from sexual or mental abuse

Hey Shane,
I have a degree in Sociology of Deviance, which is very similar to Criminology/Criminal Profiling.
This case is interesting, so I looked into it. In the video you said he was stabbed, but in all of the articles I read each one stated that the cause of death was unknown. The body was burned so bad that they could only ID the victim through the pacemaker.
I have multiple theories, but here is one quick one:
I wish I knew more about him personally, but I don’t know if I would go as far as to call Kirk a sociopath. I could see him having a mental illness like depression. He frowns a lot because of it. You did say he liked charities and he even donated blood. It could be possible that he did it for self validation to prove that he is a good person and it might even make him happy. The shirtless picture- to prove to himself that he looks good. He even helped you in school and stopped bullying. That’s an empathetic person not a sociopath. The whole “not truly smiling/laughing “ and “not changing styles “ can stem from depression.
For someone to have straight A’s, that tells me he’s smart. I feel like he would have done a better job of disposing the body if he actually did this. Not to mention, how’d he get the body out of the apartment and into a vehicle only to take it out to burn it all by himself? That’s a two man job.
It’s entirely possible that someone else killed the uncle and used Kirk as a scapegoat since he could be easy to manipulate. Kirk could have even been blackmailed to keep quiet.
I don’t know why, but it feels like the investigation is being covered up. Either that or the detectives over there are very incompetent. I wish I could read some articles on the evidence they found.
If he did in fact commit the murder, anything that brought great anxiety could be the trigger. But, I stand by with him having a mental illness. The real question is: what was it?

I think the fact that there was no jury, he pleaded guilty, and the reason for the murder hasn't been given suggests that in fact some people do know what his reasoning was. Also we know from the previous video that he hated his uncle. We also know that he seemed slightly isolated from his close friends, closed off, he later relied on drugs, he may have had anxiety - he was slightly off even as a teen. These do not denote someone as being a criminal, however I would suggest they speak to some other trauma within his early years. I would agree with you that psychopaths are unbelievably rare and him killing his just his uncle (amongst other things) makes me highly doubt he is a psychopath. My bet would be on severe childhood trauma which he was the victim of. Most certainly his uncle would have been the perpetrator. Older male relative.... young boy.... you know what I'm suggesting. This would explain some of the things people who knew him at school said. It also fits into his empathy towards victims (charities). It also gives him a motive and would explain why he (perhaps through shame) did not want a jury trail. It would also explain why the family is silent about this (maybe they knew). It still counts as full murder even if the perpetrator themselves were the victim of some sorts. If they had a motive such as this, then it would be classed under premeditative or acted in a rage - neither of which necessarily fit in with an insanity plea. The psychologists in the trail were there to assess whether this was a revenge killing or done without sanity, and evidently they decided it didn't count as a mitigation for murder.
Overall I don't think this is necessarily a cover up. I don't think he was insane because there were enough psychologists on the trail to assess that. He killed someone he knew, and obviously had a reason for that. His personality during high school doesn't suggest he was a psychopath, but it fits in with a diagnosis of suffering from childhood trauma or abuse. There was no jury, the family has kept quiet, and his motive wasnt explained to those around him. This all suggests that his motive was highly sensitive and was in people's best interest to keep quiet about - therefore a motive which was perhaps seen by some as shameful, unprovable, or 'disrespectful' to the murder victim, as well as wanting to be hidden by the perpetrator. If the uncle had consistently beaten him throughout his life this might have come out, and would be a good reason for the perpetrator to want to have a jury to explain that to him. Because he didn't have a jury, this suggests that it was something with more societal shame than being beaten as a child.
This is just my theory. If he did kill his uncle, he had reason to, and this just makes the most sense to me.

GunsOnBungees your theory on his motive was another theory he had. I have a half sister that was raped when she was a kid and their behavior almost line up perfectly. She did drugs but never killed someone. But because I literally know nothing about this guy, I posted my other theory instead of a similar one to yours. I like how your mind works, dude.

Has anyone else been LIVING for Shane's content lately? Like his editing, the subject matter, putting so much personal energy and love into these videos? It's so unique and real, and I know that Shane does have a youtube persona and we don't know him exactly how he is in person, but his more recent videos have delved into his life and childhood, and I think it's awesome. He's doing stuff that no other youtuber has done before. And I think that he's handling this situation with grace and an open mind. Keep up the amazing work, Shane.
I can't lie, his new content seems way too.. Kid- friendly? I know that sounds weird, but with the adpocalypse it makes sense. Don't fight me, I still love shane. He has a big heart and he is someone that I'll stick with no matter what. Plus the whole doing things that noone has ever done before, yep.. That attracts kids 100%. I mean it can be fun for adults too, but mostly kids. A lot of adults enjoy things that " seem boring, but if talked about correctly, interesting". Or maybe I am talking about myself, sorry I just don't enjoy shane's content that much anymore.
I'm not trying to fight you - I just really don't understand where you're getting the kid-friendly vibe from. Confronting one's parents about their separation or trying to figure out why a friend murdered someone and got life in prison aren't exactly kid-safe topics. His humor is still pretty self-deprecating and even low-brow at times, but he's matured and evolved as a person and seems like he's in a really good place right now with Ryland and being willing to tackle his anxiety. I think one of the reasons why I like his recent videos so much is because he seems to be truly happy with himself and his friends and the family he's started. It seems a little patronizing for you to say that mostly kids are consuming his content now when I just expressed how much I was enjoying it.

This honestly reminds me of my best friend in middle school, his case was national news. One day my friend shot his dad in the head with a rifle and killed him. It turned out he had been sexually abused by his father and he was moving on to his younger siblings. They even had proof of the abuse but still sentenced him at 14 to prison and tried him as an adult. He’s out now and doing better but still I just get that I’ve from him. I genuinely think it was some form of sexual abuse.

I feel like he was abused (either: physically, mentally or sexually) and he saw himself in Shane when he would get bullied therefore he would not want him to be hurt the same way he was or had been. However that I means he could not be a psychopath... therefore I believe in my heart that he’s uncle abused him in 1 of the 3 ways I said and as far as he was concerned that would be the last time that he would go through that...
