One of my favourite Bob tasks. Doesn't panic, unlike everyone else, just calmly gets on with it whilst coming up with a very funny flight of fancy

I love the way that Alex just goes and gets things for Sally, whereas all the other contestants have to get stuff for themselves.
well doesn't hurt to ask, since there usually aren't any rules that say "you can't get alex to do stuff" most of the time
Sally IIRC openly offers to torture Alex in another task if he doesn't help her. May be relevant.
Sometimes people go out by themselves to see if they find something that could spark some new idea

Actually "not enough liquid" is the issue, if the flow into the pipe exceeds the flow out of it, then the ball will rise, so a hose or bucket would have done it
That said, the pipe could be engendered so that the drainage holes allowing for more volume of output than the volume of input the opening was allowing

I just wonder how Mark is surviving every day. He seems to have absolutely no idea what's happening
He's like a child. Not even in that way of "Oh, he doesn't know how to take care of himself," but more like "He's learning so many new things every day! He's learning and growing and interacting with the world!"
He has wireless earbuds with an MP3 that's looping and it goes like this:"breathe in; breathe out; breathe in;"... 🤭
I've listened to his most recent audiobook and honestly I don't think he really knows how he's surviving either

@Finlay Craig because he's handsome, smart, funny, charismatic in a self-deprecating way, and successful.
This was the best series. It devolved into pure insanity with hardly any effort. I put that largely on the shoulders of Sally Phillips who met every task with the mindest of "Well, someone is getting fucked here. Hope it's me!"
and she meant that in every single way you could possibly use the word 'fucked'

I think Alex said that there was one task they didn't dare to show because of what Sally did in the task

Especially since he's normally so loud and over-the-top. The calm delivery of that line absolutely got me
In the Danish version, comedian Christian Fuhlendorff melted the big pipe with a creme brulé torch without damaging the ping-pong ball.

For the people arguing that melting a hole in the tube would be moving it.
I don’t agree.
The instructions says that “the pipe most not be moved”, not “the pipe can’t move”.
The pipe melting would if you would call that may type of moving, be the pipe moving, not that it has be moved by someone else.
And also in Danish I think it would be even more obvious it would be allowed.
I haven’t seen the episode and I speak Swedish, but I’m guessing the probably used the Danish version of “flytta”.
Atleast in Swedish them not being allowed to flytta the pipe, would mean they don’t get to move it somewhere else. It has to stay in place.
While we use another word for just generally describing motion.
You wouldn’t say that part of the melted pipe “flyttade”. That sentence wouldn’t make any sense. Because that is not how you use that word.
Even a partly melted pipe, if it remains at the same place on the tray on the table, haven’t in any way “flyttat”.

You have to admire Bob, not only does he solve that task in record time, but he also fits a nice story around it. Another one of Bob's (fairy)tales. That man is a born storyteller - whether truth or lies.
Mark & Nish are such a good duo. I hope they've worked together since, or at least remain friends.
Without any knowledge of the situation I have 0 doughts that they hang out almost every day.

As someone who loves Taskmaster and watching competitive eating I was well surprised when I first saw the episode to hear Matt 'Megatoad' Stonie get name dropped

I adore Sally Phillips. Great comic, great actor, and seems like a thoroughly utterly nice person.
But also scarily stupid when I came to this task

My first thought was to shove a vacuum hose attachment down it. Very glad to see my brain validated, Lol
me too. I was thinking that the vacuum hose would be about the right size and if there wasnt one a long stick with a piece of gum or reversed tape on it could have done the trick

Grabbing the hoover may not have won Sally best time, but it was definitely the biggest brain play for this task.
I love Nish more and more every time I see him. He's perfect for this show
Probably my favorite contestant in the whole show, does terrible across the board with random bursts of genius and always hilarious
so many great moments in this task alone.
Oh god, It's like a bassoon
In Portugal a famous comedian produced a Portuguese version of Taskmaster, and this task was in the first episode: It took less than one minute for one of the contenders to look at the camera crew and say “You bozos ain’t seen nothing yet.”, then go off camera, grab a hoover, snatch the termination out of its hose, and suck the ball out of the pipe 🤣
the series is good but the audio volume of the laughter in the background takes over the whole conversation

i would have gotten a hose pipe and overwhelmed the holes just for the comedy value of seeing the whole room flood
The vacuum cleaner is obviously the best way to do it, but I'd have tried the leaf blower. Blowing air over the top would create a lot of suction that might lift the ball and spectacularly launch it once it got out!
You would need to cover the holes first then
why not just a stick with some tape stuck to the end? saves time grabbing and plugging in a vacuum cleaner, or perhaps be about the same.
That moment between Nish and Sally near the end is so cute.

I love Taskmaster, but the moment they mentioned "Mega Toad" eating 12 cans of sweet corn in 13 minutes, my heart fluttered. I love Matt "the Mega Toad" Stonie.
As soon as I heard "Don't move the pipe," I started imagining someone just dropkicking the table. I didn't move the pipe! The pipe moved itself with the equal and opposite force of the table being kicked, with help from gravity.
I just fell down the stairs watching this video on my phone. I am okay.

Part of the setup is red herrings, and part of the show is trying to decide what rules actually are and what expectations to break.

I have a university degree and a postgraduate teaching qualification. My younger brother left school at 16 and has no academic qualifications at all. He would beat me by miles doing a task like this. He does sudokus and always beats me at games like Othello. I do crosswords, some quite advanced and cryptic, and usually beat him at chess and Scrabble. We're fairly even at the board game Mastermind. There's different kinds of smart.

There's a saying that you need two engineers to change a light bulb. One person holds the light bulb itself, the other person rotates the entire universe around it.
Basically since movement are relative, I can just rotate the tube 180 degrees and argue that I'm technically not moving the tube, I'm just moving everything else around it. I can even prove my point by taping my phone to the tray so that it's camera points toward tube, hit the recording button, and use the footage to prove that from that point of view, the tube doesn't move at all.
Name a more iconic duo than Sally and the funnel.

When he said 'like a bassoon', that was exactly my 1st thought on how to go about this. Airtight up the holes, probably with fingers provided there are fewer than 10 holes, then blow across the top of the pipe Bernoulli's Principle-style. And in the end, essentially Hoover it out.
Please, please could we have Nish and Mark again? I am sure people would add a few more of the favourites

I'd ask for some superglue and a string. Might take 5+ minutes to get them though depending how prepped they were.
The vacuum idea was quite great too though.
I suppose some tack/clay on a stick would also work.

This is kind of like watching those phone ads, where the ai is just crap at the puzzle, I just want to do it myself instead of watching them struggle
There are plenty of tasks I know I wouldn’t even begin to know how to approach. But I just know that this particular type of task would be so simple for me to solve that it genuinely baffles me how difficult many found it

All movement is relative to a frame of reference. Get the camera operator to flip the camera over while you flip the tube over. From the camera's perspective, the tube doesn't move while the room does.
Bob is brilliant
Ashley got robbed. The tube only moved from the perspective of an external reference frame. Change the reference frame and the tube did not move relative to the tray.

For some reason I wasn't subscribed anymore. I don't know why, I love this show.
My first thought was to look for a long stick or rod and then swab some glue onto it then rod the tube. If I saw the vacuum when looking for that stuff, I would have just used the vacuum.
