as a Maidenhead i have to agree with you, Priest catalog is way more varied than Maidens. I still think Maiden's discography is more consistent, but in terms of trying different things, Judas are the winners.
Iron maiden is great, but it just can't be argued that Priest has a much more versatile range of sounds. Iron Maiden has really kept to the same formula since Bruce has been in the band. That's necessarily a bad or good thing either.

Les Binks rocking the single bass as effectively as the doubles, of which he was a master. The three albums he made with priest are the epitome of rock drumming. The way he tuned his kit needs to be heard on vinyl to be truly appreciated. As good as the others were, particularly Simon and Scott, Les was always my favorite.
Hell Bent For Leather is one of Judas Priest's most varied albums. . Judas Priest in my opinion has nine perfect studio albums. Hell Bent For Leather is definitely one of them. I love every song on it.

I am glad people appreciate this album more than 10-20 yrs ago. This album was really revolutionary in its structure, speed and heavy metal sound. It is totally free from the bluesy elements so typical for Priest of the 70's and turned it into true heavy metal.
One of my favourite Prieat songs-not their heaviest by any means but when u blast it loud the neighbours always know exactly what kind of music u are in to🤘
IMHO, this is the second best song and Priest's second best album (only behind Screaming for Vengeance). It is such a unique and driving, heavy sound ... with a groove. Great build up and incredible resolution that just kicks until the end. Everyone nails it on this one -- drums, vocals, strings.... It's a kicking rock song that rocks hard with a purpose.

Such an Epic Timeless Metal Album! I really LOVE THEE POWERFUL DRUM MIX . When most drum mixes in the 1970s & bands in the studio had such a muted drum tone. Never liked that. Takes the Power & Natural drum tone away lol 🤘👽
A bar band I used to go see now and then used to cover this but for the longest time didn't know the name of it... it's one of my top 5 fave J/P songs... it has a wicked groove and it's nice N sleazy. 🎼🤟

Les Binks is one bad MF’er he is one of the Reasons I am one of the biggest JP fans in the world I first heard JP when I was fourteen years old back in 1979 and the album was‘unleashed in the east’and after drinking some MD 20/20 and smoking some Colombian Gold and downing 2 or 3 Lemmon 714’s and maybe taking a half a hit or a whole hit of Mr.Bill I was convinced that this was the greatest hard rock band ever lol seriously I am telling the truth.
They would go heavier on the next release (British Steel) and in this AOR direction on the next(Point of Entry). You could call this song pre-Point of Entry style and you'd get no arguments here. Lots of heavier stuff than this track on this release. I like the UK moniker Killing Machine Vs. the US's Hell Bent For Leather. Killing Machine sounds heavier as a title and the song itself I find heavier as well.
