Here at Diecast Resurrection we specialize in painting diecast model cars. I've always wanted to try gold leaf lettering on one of my project cars and in todays video I finally did it. After I watched a How to Gold Leaf Tutorial I started filming my video and we did it. The result was pretty good, with a little tweeking in decal sizes I think I can achieve perfect results!

Hello friends, I did some gold leafing today for practice with great success. Have to do a little tweeking of decal sizes to help perfect things for next time but I'm overall pleased with the results. I plan on being back tomorrow with another video. Hope your week is going good, its freezing here.. 🍺🍺👍👍🤘🤘

I've actually done a fair amount of leaf on lowriders (1:1 scale!) this last year. When you go to get the real stuff, make sure to get the transfer leaf and not the loose stuff. Its a little more expensive but its WAY easier to use, lays on much flatter, and you will not waste as much either. That's just my thoughts on it. Love your videos!

Very cool process! I think the real gold leaf might be easier to apply, the only drawback is that it costs more…A sheriffs badge might be a cool design too.

The correct product that you need for creating spray mask decals is called Gerbermask. You can pick it up from any vinyl decal supplier. It is fairly expensive for what it is, but the low tack adhesive works great for spraying without leaving residue. I use it for water based paint as well as solvent based... works great for all.

The real gold leaf is a lot easier to work with, though for larger surfaces two layers are best (and a red base coat underneath).
