Next time, would you mind demonstrating with a multi placer? They seem to work differently. And maybe show us which one works best for AB drills. This was great to watch. Thank you đ
The way she loads her single placer with the museum putty is the same way I load a multiplacer. I use and recommend using blu tack, which is the same concept as the museum putty. Then, i cut the excess with an exacto knife so it doesn't spill out of the pen tip too much. If you press hard, you may have that issue anyway, but you can just push it back into the placer. Contrary to what she says in her video about not touching it with dirty fingers, i do presss the blu tac on my finger or hand a couple times before using it to place drills which helps drastically eliminate the problem with it sticking/ leaving residue on gems or canvas. I am halfway thru a 90x120 canvas (166,666 total gems to complete) and I've not had to change the blu tack yet in any of my pen tips. I have over 30 hours of work done already if not double that time.
I know this was asked a while ago, but I hope this finds you and helps answer your question.
â@@melaniephillips8556I tried blue tack.... even making sure to dull down its tackiness with fingers and even fabrics. I ended up having tho throw drill out, because I couldn't get them out of the blue tack. I'm sure environment has a lot to do with it. Glad it works for you.â€
@@mycreativeheart4159 that sucks it didn't work because I love it!! It's hard to put them in anything lower than a 3 multiplacer
@mycreativeheart4159 there are a lot of putty and waxes out there. Hopefully you find one that works for you as the pink stuff wears out way too fast
@@melaniephillips8556 I'm new to DP. I just bought some putty from Creations Morin.... it seems to be too sticky as well. Even though my home is not heated in the winter.... i think working under close lighting is heating my putty quickly. My biggest challenge has been with AB's. I want to love them, but I'm not right now... lol. THX for your reply.â„ïž
I'm literally brand new to diamond painting so your video was super informative for me. Thank you for your content!!! đ
I've waited so long for this video! Thanks! Lots of great info.
It was time lol! Thanks mama, glad you think so
Great video, I learned so much! I love glue dots but struggle with using in multi placer. Iâll have to give putty a try. Thank you for the video đ„ł
Great demo! Thank youđ„°
Thank you for this video, I greatly appreciate the comparisons between the waxes and putties. Iâm new to diamond painting, and I immediately did not like the various waxes on the market due to the residue & the problems with placing AB drills. I absolutely prefer putties, and have been experimenting with them. Thank you for your review, itâs extremely helpful. I will be trying Randâs scented putties when theyâre back in stock (hope I can get them), and hopefully they will be my favorite putty too. Happy diamond painting đ€©
I use blu tack and it's amazing!!! I've painted half of a 90x120 canvas without having to replace the blu tack once! I recommend touching the blu tack a few times before painting so it doesn't stick to your gems or canvas. I stamp and store to put into multiplacers as well and then cut the excess off with an exacto knife so you don't have too much that spills out of the drill because I do press hard to place the diamonds. I've never had an issue with the blu tack putty sticking to me gems or canvas.
Oh, good idea, I think I'll start cutting off the excess. It does end up on the drills sometimes.
@@mikkareads Cutting, it has helped me a lot.
@@mikkareads I also recommend touching it a few times before you stick them to your drills to make it less tacky.
Really appreciate your videos!
I just came across ur channel. Thank you so much for this video!!! Iâm just got some wax and had difficulty getting in the tip of my pen. Thank you for all the great tips with both putty and wax! đ
So Iâve been diamond painting for 3 years and have tried a couple of different putties this is a terrific video I have downloaded it and refer to it again I will try Puddyâs again thank you
Thanks, M. LOVING PaddyWax again, once I followed your advise. My fave putty is Randa's, too. đ»
This was so helpful - but for single placing - glue dots!!!! đ
Just found you and subscribed. Great video using the putty and waxes.. Thanks.. I do use glue dots in my single placer and love the pop and how it lasts so long. days.. I used putty in the multi placer. I just got Randas putty and haven't tried yet. I have been using Fiber Castel putty. I leave the lid off as it does get soft and yes if the residue gets on the canvas it messes up the symbols.. Hate that. I will load the Randa putty tomorrow (company in town so haven't worked on my paintings for couple days. driving me crazy. lol) Love seeing another lefty..
Thank you for this I just ordered the super wax. I am new to this and have been having so much trouble with the wax. I went from your link hope it helps you.
Iâm with you and love putty the most. Havenât tried Randas. Iâm currently using the mounting putty by gorilla glue in my multiplacer and love it! I also exclusively use glue dots in my single placer and itâll be hard to stop using that for sure! It gives the BEST POP!
Glue dots seem to be the universal alternative, and itâs one I havenât tried. Iâll have to check them out!
@@DottingwithDiamonds get the micro glue dots!
@@PaintingwithPitties I bought micro glue dots, but can't seem to get them to work. Have you any suggestions or a video that might explain it better?
Thank you. I too use paddy wax and living in ma I have found that it does work better cold.
I live in NH and have found the same thing. I find it isnât worth using my paddywax in summer because there are just too many issues when it is warm!
Iâm really loving the new extream putty ,I only have to change about every 3 days
The key with my putty from ExcuseMeDesigns when youâve had it a long time is take it out, manipulate it (with clean hands of course :) stretch it, mold it and put back into the container. Voila! Also, this will make it smell really good again. Also, i use it all the time in my multiplacer :) And can place for days :) Thanks for reviewing it! So excited I came across your video. Great job!
Iâm so happy you did, cause I will definitely do that!!! Your putty is one of my favorites!! Thank you so much for watching, Iâm so happy you enjoyed it!
Hi, very great video.
I use the blue wax.
Have a wonderful day.
Omg how crazy! Iâm just noticed Iâm working on the same spot on the same painting! đđ„°
But anyway, I forgot to say thank you for this! Itâs super helpful to hear the different types and uses. đ„°
New sub here. Great video đ When I do Ab's I use the pink wax. If you use the pink wax when its dirty, like after diamong painting for a while it wont pull out. I also use a multiplacer regardless whether I'm placing 1 or more drills. I also like using the plastic single placer tips strictly for the Ab's I keep a couple pens with the plastic tip and a multiplacer loaded just for the Ab's đ€
Oh yes I heard the plastic tips were a lot better for the AB drills and pink wax! Thanks for sharing! âșïžâșïž
You say "we" But I have had the same wax in my pens (unchanged) for over 3 large paintings đ Pink wax and the cheap pens really do work just fine for me.
They work for me also. So now I sit here and ask myself if itâs worth the money - albeit inexpensive. On the other hand, maybe I am missing something here and itâd be worth it to try. LOL
Thank you for making this! Can you tell me the name of the piece youâre working on? It looks lovely!
Itâs so interesting that harder works better for you. Maybe I need to try sticking my paddywaxx in the fridge. I found at room temperature (72-74F for me) it would stop sticking so crazy fast. I was refreshing it every few minutes. If I got it to body temperature though, it lasted maybe 30-60 minutes. Iâm really aggressive though and will push the drills around with my tips though so I got a lot of residue and the drills. Iâve tried body temperature beeswax and had pretty similar results, maybe slightly longer times. Iâm using glue dots right now in both my single and multi placer. I think glue dots will be my go to for the single placer but Iâm still needing to find a good solution for my multi placer. The glue dots stay sticky but I have to fiddle with it occasionally or itâll have spots that either wonât let go or wonât pick up one drill. I want to try putty next.
Iâve seen a lot of people saying that warmer wax works better for them! I definitely think itâs circumstantial to some degree in regards to what works for who. Maybe climate has something to do with it? Iâm not sure! I found body temp or room temp wax however just left so much more residue! Itâs so interesting to hear about what works for other people! Iâm pretty aggressive too with my drills, and thatâs why I prefer putty, but glue dots I hear about a lot as well and I have yet to try those. I think I might soon, though, I know a lot of people love them! Thank you so much for sharing your experiences!
@@DottingwithDiamonds another pro for glue dots is no residue. Iâve heard that buffing the residue in with a toothbrush makes it shine more, but I donât notice that it does for me. Idk if I just get so much residue left behind but it seemed to dull the shine for me a bit.
I haven't found anything that stays sticky in my placer for more than a few minutes. I've tried paddy wax, pink & blue wax, & all types of waxes & putties. I'm so frustrated ! I don't get that satisfying pop for more than a few placements either. đąđąđą
Love your tray where is it from.
I just got a bundle of colored wax like the red but harder like you said, I tried putty and scented wax, I like the colored wax better. Too much residue with the scented wax
You are set for a while with all of your fun waxes.
I dont live for the pop. Does nothing for me. But thank you for explaining and showing the different things you can use to create my Diamond Art
GREAT review of waxes and putties! Where did you get that beautiful green pen?
Diamond Pen Pal on Etsy!!
@@DottingwithDiamonds Thank you!
How do you clean your tips?
Where can you get Paddy wax super sticky?
Thanks for this, the wax that comes in the kits is the worst, all my colors are the square pink. Iâve used the blue square wax. I want it try the micro dots and the clay, something thatâs going to last longer than 15 to 20 mins and donât ooze out the drill when you lay the drills on the canvas. TFS!!
Micro glue dots I havenât gotten around to trying yet - Iâd have to see if I can order them from Amazon and figure them out. Thanks for watching!! âșïž
I find glue dots to be the best! â€ïžđšđŠ
What does it mean to ooze out of the pen? I exclusively use pink/blue wax & I have no idea what youâre referring to. Iâve done HUGE diamond paintings (4 1/2 ft x 3 ft is the biggest) & never had an issue. Though I think no having to change the putty/wax as often would be wonderful!!
Do you have a link for the patty wax super sticky mermaid?
Itâs like paddy wax. Can you go from pink wax to paddy wax with the same pen.?
i use blu-tak and it lasts forever for me!
Me to thts all I ever use
My Randa wax was even softer than yours I left them both in the freezer several times even for a couple nights but no difference I actually canât use them at all cause it just goes everywhere, I like the putty though but it doesnât last me as long as it does others even if I try to manipulate it before completely changing it out.
All the waxes work different in metal tips. But still on the hunt for the best. I used to like the museum putty bestb but it does not work in the metal tips. TFS
I canât find the links!
I ended up purchasing a wax. The instructions are : slide over it gently with the pen. Iâm not sure how to use it. It has a nice bubblegum scent. Iâm afraid it will ruin my pen. Itâs not like the pink wax. Itâs hard. You canât pierce it. Is it safe?
New subbie here đđœ đđœââïž
Can you PLEASE tell me what your favorite wax/putty for beginners? The pink stuff is REALLY not working well for me. I have to reload way more than I think I should. Very frustrating when my time for the projects is very limited.
I use Blu tack it's like putty and it works wonders it pops and it's clean bn using it for 7 yrs đ
I canât stand the pink wax it gets all over my canvas and pulls out of my pen
LOL, I love it, fireball the candy not the drink.
You have some pretty pens. Where did you get them?
Both shown here are from Diamond Pen Pal on Etsy! âșïž
I jst ordered 3 resin pens on Temu wth multiplacers as a set in a case for $19 Australia ...
What tray are you using?
This is the MAX tray from Bella Art de Nicole!
New sub here. đ
Welcome!! :)
Have you tried glue dots? I really like them, they can be too sticky at first, but when they get a bit 'dirtier' so you have to prime them by rubbing them on a tee shirt or similar, they work for weeks! And you get a really great pop. Add more zest channel czcams.com/video/c8EB2_BU_PA/video.html used it exclusively and I really like them
I hear many people say they swear by glue dots! Iâve been weary about them because I was nervous replacing the glue dots would warp the brass tips of the pens. Now that I have metal placers, I think Iâm going to buy some micro dots and experiment with them!
I've only used them in metal tips, and they work great. Just a bit of a pain when you first start with a fresh one, they pull the drills back off, but if you rub them on you clothes and get a bit of fuzz on them they start working well and last for weeks. I also have just been trying rolled up double sided tape in my multiplacer, and it seems to be working ok
When you are introducing different products you should repeat the name of the product often enough for me to write down the name and where I can found it. Iâm not good at finding the notes you leave, and I donât want to read through the transcript. Thank you.
TOO MUCH LAUGHING FOR ME.
Hello i'm a new here. How long do you use your pink wax until you change it? Or did you change every once in a while? My wax only works for a quite time until it doesnt stick for the diamond anymore đ„Č
Hi! I actually donât use the pink wax anymore for that specific reason, and use most of the alternatives mentioned in the video! I found I was changing my pink wax more often than I was diamond painting. I recommend finding a putty that works for you! I can diamond paint for hours without needing to change it!
@@DottingwithDiamonds okaaay thank you soo much.. then i'll try the alternatives that you mentioned.. so glad you make this video
