  • Opposition leader Peter Dutton says the Albanese government has “signed up to the safety” of nuclear technology and the disposal of waste with nuclear submarines.
Opposition leader Peter Dutton announced the Coalition’s nuclear plan at a media event on Wednesday.
“Labor’s signed up to the safety of the technology,” Mr Dutton told Sky News Australia.
“They’ve also signed up to the disposal of the waste, so we already do that.”

The entire reason nuclear isn't viable is because of two things.

      2. Money.
It has nothing to do with the safety prospects of nuclear, which you would know, if you ever did any research beyond reading headlines. 😂
If the LNP wanted nuclear for our baseload, why didn't they spend the last 10 years building it? Why did they spend 800 billion dollars securing our fossil fuels grid? 🤣

I do agree they should be owned entirely buy the government, that will put costs entirely on the taxpayer but deliver cheaper prices. Its not necessarily the cost of generating power its what providers choose to charge. The issue I have is that governments have a tendency to sell off public assets, hence the higher energy costs. I'm not anti nuclear but renewables economically stack up better for a mid term fix and there are plenty of investors.
