It's possible, but starting at garage sales is powerul because you can negotiate every sale at a garage sale, and they are truly looking to get rid of things to free up space in their homes.

You are very US-focused on this Garage sales topic. Garage sales are *not* a thing in most countries around the world.
Boot sales, FB marketplace, 2nd hand stores, local ads... almost every country has places to hunt.
@@Erin_Wilson_Studios Online marketplaces are totally transparent and open for parallel purchase competition. You seldom get any miraculous deals on buys. Perhaps secondhand stores and park/street markets is an option in larger cities. Here in Norway, almost all used products are sold online via one market-leading site.
