Saw City and Colour live last night. They played this song as the final encore and had the crowd sing Gord's part. One of the best concert moments I've attended.
RIP GORD DOWNIE. I’ll never forget being at your last concert in our hometown Kingston.
I wish
Yeah it was unreal
Rest in peace Gord Downie
I know eh, i watched and recorded that one on CBC
One of the best I've ever seen
This song haunts and comforts me. When i am at my worst i feel every lyric in my soul. ‘That ill never find the words to say… which would completely explain, just how im breaking down…’
I thought I was the only one who had that problem... Well welcome to the group
man still gives me bumps when Downie comes in. This is such a brilliant collab
I was fortunate enought to see his last show in vancouver. After the encore the band left and just Ford walked back out to the stage and said thank you for the wonderful years one last time. The crowd cheered louder than ANY other sound I have heard in my life. Was a proper send off for a canadian legend and hero.
@@chrisfitger2212 Ya Chris I can only IMAGINE that. What a moment to witness for sure, still so tragic man. Cancer and anybody having to deal with that shit in their life man.
Such an iconic voice. His verse is crushing.
Absolutely two of my favourite musicians on one song. What could be better!
Iconic Canadians. Thank you for sharing your talents.
Yes
we are all human, we are all talented
Just saw City and Colour in Victoria! They closed out the show with this song and Dallas acknowledged it would have been Gord Downie's 60th Birthday that day and that the last time they saw each other was in Victoria. It was a really powerful moment when the crowd sang Gord's verse. RIP Gord Downie, your legacy will always live on.
I was there too! great show and fitting way to close it out
This song is really emotional for me, but also comfortng. I lost my husband three weeks ago. We saw Tragically Hip in concert years ago.
I know it's been a little while, but I hope you're doing good and are well on your way. Sending you good vibes 🙏☀
This song hits me like a tidal wave. My dad loved this song and passed at the end of 2022 and this sparks his memory every time. I love it.
Very sorry for your loss. My father is currently dying of heart failure. May God bless you and yours
This song resonates with me. We all have struggles. Keep our eyes open for those who want to help. Misery can put blinders on us.
Omg Seeing Gord makes me cry 😢
Brought a tear or two to my eyes.
these two voices together so hypnotic and emotional. you can feel these lyrics in your soul.
The life of a TRUE Canadian Icon. RIP Gord Downy, you are heart n soul
He was the best of us. Rest in power.
Idk why I've heard this song a million times, it's one of my all time favorites. But somethings about it right now has me crying like a baby right now.
Me too
The most beautiful song I have ever heard in my entire life, so far... And I dont think I will EVER hear a more beautiful song again. (and I know music)
I have loved this song since I was a kid and love it even more today. It hits deep. A harmonic collaboration between two amazing artists. Perfectly balanced. Perfectly angst. Perfectly real.
Perfectly perfect.
Someone come and save my life, that's all I've ever wanted...an amazing 🎵
Felt just like this song. It always soothes my soul.❤
This song will never die !
such a gorgeous song. the chorus pops so hard.
perfect imagery too. A peek into private lives that may look happy and normal on the surface but hide loneliness and desperation. What do we speak to empty rooms when no one is listening?
I truly have become a simple souvenir of someones kill.. Thanks City and Colour for always being there.
Rest Easy Gord, we miss you man
this guy sang from beyond the grave even when he was alive..
I used to be able to play this song so well. Guitar really is muscle memory. City and colour will always be in my heart ❤️
I met you Gord! When I was 17 & my dad was the Entertainment Editor of the Ottawa Sun and I met you at a concert
You had a tattered orange 🍊 turtleneck and were socially awkward. I’ll never forget that and now I appreciate that meeting now that I’m older.
This song is fantastic! And more people should be watching this video(:
Love this man so much that i named my son after him..alexisonfire got me through my childhood and city and colour got me through my teenage/young adult years ❤ i use to sing this song to my daughter all the time.. im a big tragically hip fan bc of my dad so i loved the fact that gord was featured in it ❤️❤️
You Canadian? I don't think tragically hip is well known outside of Canada??
Gord left us too soon.
1 dislike? just one? goes to show you how incredible this song really is.
Absolutely love this track!!
Some are born great, some achieve greatness, and some have greatness thrust upon them.
Finally a video for this great song!
It's beyond moving. Especially now that Gord has left us. Such a powe song and a stark reality of how life can always be a struggle regardless of situation.
I wish they had made more music together...They compliment each other well.. Rip Gord, rip my hubby who i lost to a heart attack a year ago Nov. 21 st... We jammed the hip together, got to hear Saskadelphia before he died, miss you Craig
This song just calmed the ill inside me tonight 🖤
We miss you so much Gord. Every day, always.

the internet has changed

I've become/a simple souvenir of someone's kill/like the sea/I'm constantly changing from calm to ill
I had a friend back in elementary school who's grandather was in the infantry in WW2. He had a shoebox of momentoes of the Germans he'd killed in this box that we looked at once. A Nazi breast eagle cut crudely from a uniform. A medal. A damaged photo. A dirty handkerchief. He was a mercuirial man, someone we were warned to stay away from, especially if he'd been drinking. This always makes me think of him and how fragile that is and how a simple something is kept from such a profound act of taking another's life.
Love
I've become, a simple souvenir of someone's kill,
Like the sea, I'm constantly changing from calm to ill,
Madness fills my heart and soul as if the
Great divide could swallow me whole, oh how I'm breaking down.
Thanks Gord and The guys for being just Canadian you guys are the shirt
Oh hell yeah hahaha.
