- This building a house from start to finish episode is all about the elevation design. You start to see the mountain home details all come together - board and batten, shaker shingles, gables, and wood beams. Our elevation home design is finally coming together and now we have a completely framed custom ranch home. We also help build a decorative window over our garage to save on costs and we drill in the support columns to our back patio. Later we went shopping for our elevation stone and brick. Last but not least we put the shingles on our roof! We're really enjoying the home front design process and all the small details we get to pick in order to build our dream home in the woods.

Subscribed Great Couple! Hardworking and adventurous. Being from Michigan , I assume Brother Faris has middle eastern background as well so it would definitely be cool if you guys went around that part of the world and try their foods and just wonder around the cities. I highly doubt that your little tapcon screws are what the engineer/architect spec'd for your post base - for your safety, show him what you did. There should be rebar rings set in place the concrete and proper anchor bolts inside the rings. To make matter worse, one of your post sits on a corner that is cantilevered. Unsafe. 4:23 shot...how is this brace against right to left wind load? Is it relying on the floor diaphram being inset?
Hi Michael, thanks for your concern. We had an architect come out and help us with these posts to make sure they were secured properly and safely. This was just temporary they are now fully encased in masonry.
What did you use for the shingles/shakes on the front siding of the house? Are they real wood cedar shakes or a composite product? They look fantastic!
The roof takes a week! Our boys would of have that done in three days tops... Love the project by the way.
My boys you are quick! We will call our guys "The Old Roofers" great experience just a little slower.

How much sqm or sqft floor areas. How much it cost you for everything?
It’s a 2,800 square foot ranch! We’re still in the building process but so far once framed it’s at $333k
