  • I've gotten a lot of inspiration from other CZcams users, so it's about time I share some of my own mods here.
    It's a 2008 Harley Sportster Nightster XL1200N.
Bught it second hand and tweaked it to my own likings.
Big thanks to my dad for helping me with fabrication!
Also, I recommend getting a Clymer shop manual, or similar, it's saved me a few times.
Otherwise, if you have any questions about your Sporty, sign up to XLforum, all answers can be found there.
    Things left to do:
Already bought, but need to install Buchanan's twisted stainless spokes front and rear
Paint the graphics in gunmetal silver, dark silver flake or silver leaf
    On the wish list:
    Daymaker headlight
1250 kit with cams and head work
    Complete internal wiring
Paint the grey engine wrinkle black
    Figure Machine Vision cam cover
Tear it down, cut off all unnecessary brackets, smooth out some horrible MoCo welds and powder coat frame, fork and swing arm
    Mod list, so far:
Chopped cam cover, struts and rear fender
Removed front fender, belt guards and a ton of plastic
Homemade Team Dark Custom design (cut on vinyl decals at Dech Sticker Phuket)
    LePera Bare Bones seat
Vance & Hines Competition Series 2-1 exhaust
    DEI Titanium exhaust wrap
    Nightrider X14iED fuel management
Progressive Suspension 412 rear shocks 11.5"
    Progressive Suspension Monotube fork cartridges
    Rizoma front sprocket cover
    Rizoma Radial mirrors
Harley analog tach / digital speedo combo
Performance Machine Max HP air cleaner
    RSD fork brace
RSD speedo mount with dummy lights
    RSD foot pegs
    Harley forward controls
    Harley drag bars
MotoGadget grips and bar end indicators
    Performance Machine levers and controls
    Shorty chrome risers
Performance Machine 6 piston front caliper
Performance Machine 4 piston rear caliper
    RSD Diesel 13" front rotor
    RSD Diesel 11.5" rear rotor
    Kellermann rear LED lights
Arlen Ness Deep Cut shifter rod
Modified chin fairing from a frame mount EVO
RSD Nostalgia Contrast Cut outer rocker covers
    Harley chrome inner rocker covers
    Harley black head bolt bridges
    Screaming Eagle plug wires
Homemade ignition and coil relocation bracket
Homemade 1.5" tank lift (I lied in the video, it's not 2")
AntiGravity 12 cell lithium ion battery
Rerouted all wires using stock harness
Any questions, feel free to ask.

Stumbled on your video while I wad looking for mod ideas for my Wide Glide. My first bike was a Sportster and I've always liked the Nightsters and I can say, without any shadow of a doubt, your bike is the absolute SICKEST looking sportster (of any variety) I've ever seen. Your vinyl work and design scheme are great, I love your indicators. Overall a very well planned and put together bike, absolutely love it!

@Taylor M (no reply button on your post for some reason)
I know, I had the same concerns, they're not listed as a fit for the Nightster, so I contacted PM and they guaranteed that the 6 piston calliper that I wanted was a direct bolt on (Part Nr. 0051-2917-BM). The 6 piston calliper needs a 13" rotor, but I think the 4 piston version is a direct fit on the stock 11,5 " rotor.
If you have any questions, just drop PM a line via their website, they're quick to answer.

Hey! Awesome inspiration. Question about the drag bars. Are these with or without dimples? Do you have cables running inside the bars? Also how good are the moto gadget grips?
    Cheers bud!

    • @FJoberger
      @FJoberger  Před 10 lety

The bars have dimples, but I'm not using them, all electric wires are internal.
I personally like the grips and they look great together with the bar end indicators. These are the billet ones, but they now sell rubber ones as well.
      motogadget.com/en/griff-taster/gummigriff-m-grip-soft/m-switch.html
Only issue I've had with them so far was when the grub screws that holds the inner retaining ring vibrated loose. Put some thread lock on them and its been ok since.

Used stock lenght to begin with, but recently changed the clutch cable to a couple inches shorter. It's got to make a quite brutal first bend down from the grip, so a bit shorter than stock is good. No problems with the throttle and brakes though.

Allen Rodriguez: It's not that hard, you just need a bit of patience.
Cut off the excess bits with a dremel (the easy part), then reshape it with a heat gun to make it fit the frame properly (the patience part).
If you're too easy with the heat gun, the plastic won't soften enough to reshape it, but if you're too eager with it, the plastic will go liquid on you.
I pretty much worked a whole day to get mine the way I wanted it, but I still had to use filler on some spots to make it even.
