- The ORION DRIVE is now a stock reality. Buggy stock , but still stock damit.
What is an ORION DRIVE? Back in the 50's a propulsion was proposed that consisted of throwing a nuclear bomb out of the back of a very large space craft. The following explosion would push the space craft at great speeds.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS :
1. When do you upload videos? - I make videos everyday.
2. What do you do for a living? - I work a full time construction job plus any overtime I can get.
3. Where can I download the craft file? - I do not put my crafts out for download because not only do I not have time, but these videos are meant for you to be inspired to build your own crafts. I try to make it so you can follow along with the build.
4. What is a SSRT ? - SSRT means Single Stage Rocket Technology. It was a term used before the term SSTO was a thing.

Orion ships should probably include regular engines for fine tuning and docking
I agree. When I did this I never would get into an exact orbit.
Nah, let's do it the kerbal way
The purpose of the Orion drive was for trans-planetary travel. Think of it as what a plane would be to a car, the Orion drive would be to a standard rocket.
@@papahemmy8587 yes, and thats exactly why planes have engines which can be throttled and fine control systems. Orion ships should also have engines to perfect target orbit. (Or low power nukes that are for this)
@@CarlosAM1 you're absolutely missing the point lol
it's crazy how they made one of the most sophisticated Orion drives mods in the game on accident
I just saw “stock Orion drive” and instantly clicked. I personally think literally blasting across the solar system with deadly nuclear weapons is cool as fuck.
Hey, it only makes sense that we create the most Kerbal device in history with the tools they’ve inadvertently given to us.
Never doubt KSP players to find a bug immediately after an update release
Imagine powering one of your warship designs with this.
I don't have the dlc but I was thinking about that too
Holy nukes, Batman. That’s the most American thing since coming up with the Orion Drive concept itself!
@@TheEmeraldMenOfficial The Orion Battleship is a real design

Everyone: No, it can't be the last update noooo
KSP devs: Adds stock orion drive for last update
Everyone: Ok now it can be the last update lol
Considering the circumstances...there's actually a pretty reasonable chance that this bug won't actually get fixed. It'll likely be a permanent part of the game from now on.
.
And really...I'm totally fine with that.
Speaking of which - is there any word on the "Kraken Drive" bug that Vaos used on his "Star Trek" warp drive ships?
There is actually coming another final patch. It will probably introduce the ground anchor which did not yet work for the "final" update and also deliver some bug fixes.
@@vgames1543 Yes, but even if they drop a second patch for some reason, I don't think they'll get this one.
.
It's complicated, low-priority, was completely unknown (unlike the ground anchor issue which was eventually planned for at release), and looks like it's already becoming really popular. It's not really worth fixing.
.
But...maybe, I guess.
@@DoremiFasolatido1979 There's already a 1.12.1 planned for bug fixes to this update
@@ChiefSmackahoLLC is it fixed?
Most of the over acceleration problems you had with the pistons being forced through he craft were historically fixed by making the pusher plate heavier to help dampen the blow and by increasing the mass the raw force was acting on.
First time I have ever liked a video before watching it. Just because Orion.
Thanks for the shoutout!!! And nice video!
I see this thing being more like a intergalactic ship since each "blast" is a huge amount of delta v and didn't look like it used too many of them to go across the system
*interstellar. Orion drives wouldn't be enough for intergalactic.
@@bumkiss not with that attitude
I made one of these less than too hours after the update came out and got to orbit first try. I only needed one firework launcher though and was using a small plane.
Cool, but I am going to wait for the real deal in Kerbal Space Program 2.
Impulse is change in objects momentum = Force x time. By spreading out the time of travel you fined the sweet spot for acceleration with out blowing up. Small travel time big badda boom
That is so awesome and it just earned my subscription. Great work man
This is very cool! Thank you for uploading this :D
Some classic Outpost 2 music!
Finally I found how to do it! I was very confused on how to do it, as soon as the fireworks came out I instantly thought "KAL controller orion drive?!?!?" also, awesome video! Thanks!
It appears you made an interesting form of decoupler for command modules there!
I have subbed now good sir
Really good design!
You know I’ve been playing lap for a Verry long time and love the different exploits there are
Fun fact with this you can technically do a 2 parts to orbit
Yesterday you were playing with tanks. and today i wake up to a orion drive
amazing
Well damn, now I have to do this too.
cool :D
perfect method to go interstellar with stock parts
This guy is the next Stratzenbliz
the future of interplanetary travel kerbals! : D
Man this new ksp 2 trailer looks wild
You can pair the firework launcher to the spacebar with the action group section when you're building a spacecraft
sneeber moment!
damnit i knew this would happen
Strazenblitz needs to see this. :D
I love your channel and I think it's really underated, you should maybe do collabs with other youtubers
also you need to instal RCS build aid like seriously
YES!
Fifth time watching just to break it down I appears if you had a split hull that allowed the travel of the plates travel in between there wouldn’t be the possibility of destroying the central hull
You know vaos, the original project orian was a full on battle ship,to include cannons, rotary defence platorms, some 300 nuclear rockets, appearantly some type of shaped nuclear charge to basically act as a phaser ray lol,as well as several shuttle bays.might be neat to see you attempt a full replica.also there are not so based on fact super orian ark that may be intreasting
wow i would have not fought about using it like that
This is a crazy bug
Make the firework explode right after it's launched to get the aesthetics right
Do you think you can try to use this design to go to another solar system with a interstellar mod?
I did this a couple of days ago, I never got higher than 3,000 meters, as I ran out of fireworks.
could the piston shock absorber be used to make a new kind of KAL overclocked mass relay or warp gate?
you can do the same thing with engines, and anything you can edit in the kal
quite frankly I have no idea what the hell is going on but good job
the delta V pump
this is the way-
I bet fireworks were only added because they knew people would do this stuff.
Yeah cool and all but CAN YOU USE MULTIPLE OF THEM IN THE SAME ROCKET?
I wouldn't be surprised if this is a new budget Orion drive for travel in the ksp2
It's is
Orion Drives are in KSP 2, they’re in the trailer.
I meant as a budget Orion Drive
What is that hexagonal shape on the earth atmosphere?
No clue
I think it might be because of the launch claws...since when he uses hacks to go to orbit he doesn't disconnects to them soooo
What graphics mods do you use? Kerbin looks like a terraformed Mars, and who doesn't like the look of a terraformed Mars!
VAOS sounds like danooct1
Did you try adjust the damper on the cylinder robotics to limit total movement?
@PhonieZ ya the forces may still be too much that they break the cylinders. the dampers make the cylinders more resistant to movement so if it is to stiff your much likely to exceed the maximum force of the object.
Think of stoping a moving car with a bungee rope (loose dampers) to a tight wire rope or *wall (tight dampers). *Exaggerated of course
@PhonieZ I’d still try it to experiment who knows you may find a way to inverse the movement to allow repulsion instead of absorption
Yes, too much and it breaks. Middle is fine
How to stabilize it?
my question is....... what visual mods are you using?
Link for the music please.
Loyo
How are you still uploading in 720p in 2021
Okay this is quite hard considering the shoot hole thing is offset
I think that's why he used several in a ring...
This ship could go interstellar // interstellar mod
Ничего но понял, но очень интересно
How is KAL so broken? Its not even a hard bug to fix.
0:58 oh
Is this craft up for download?
Nope
@@vaos3712 oh
you didn't show footage of how it got into space
He hyper-edited it. You can see it in one shot. This was purely a hypothetical test article. I'm sure if he was doing a "real" scenario that you'd see the actual launch vehicle.
he used console commands and e did show it.
^^^^^^^
I understood none of that.
