Cardinal Mazarin played a crucial role in establishing the Westphalian principles that would guide European states' foreign policy and the prevailing world order. He wrote a great number of books too. Thank you for your great video.

I like how you mentioned the Mazarin diamonds, as you did with the Grand Condé in your video about Louis II de Bourbon. It inspired me to do a little searching and I found that one of the diamonds, "le Grand Mazarin," a 19-carat pink diamond, sold for $14,463,493 in 2017 at auction. According to the stone's provenance, it was held by every French king from Louis XIV to Charles X (search Christie's and Grand Mazarin - it appears one cannot post links)

Mazarin, another naturalized Italian - apart from Giambattista Lulli, aka Jean Baptiste Lully - who was very important for the Sunking. One could write an entire book about the "Mazarinettes/Mazarinardes". You covered the most important infos about him, so well done again.

What an interesting life, the Cardinal led. I don't think that Queen Anne of Austria and the Cardinal had a romantic relationship, I think it was a union of the minds, two intellectuals finding interests in each other's input. Thank you for this amazingly beautiful video.

Well, he unfortunately would not be the first or last individual to be outwardly pious while also amassing a sizable portion for himself on earth. Still, I am amazed that Mazarin doesn't get as much press as Richelieu as I find them both very shrewd and effective statesmen I know you covered Maria, but are the other Mazarinettes in the works potentially? They seem fascinating.

Marie Mancini and Louis XIV had to be physically torn apart from each other, so Louis could be forced to marry the Spanish dolt princess. I think that is so cruel. He adored Marie Mancini.
