Alan Wake created Tom Zane; not the other way around. From the moment Alan took the key to the cabin from the Dark Presence while in the Oh Deer Diner, he started mentally writing the events of "Departure", and even retconning the history of Bright Falls and its inhabitants. It was literally a minute after Alan touched the Dark Presence that the Anderson brothers called him "Tom" for the first time. Tom Zane is Alan Wake himself, self-inserted into Bright Falls' history retroactively. The Dark Place is capable of time manipulation, as shown at the end of Alan Wake, after Alan used The Clicker on the Dark Presence. Once "Barbara Jagger" was eliminated, time was re-wound back to the moments before Alan jumped into Cauldron Lake for the second time, in which the now freed Alice Wake was now able to escape the Dark Place and swim to the surface.

i cant remember when i tried to play this game but i did not get into an hour of it before i returned it to the place i rented it from.

@@DeepDives I'm not bashing on the game it's just I kept getting owned by the enemies because I ran out of batteries and ammo and that was not fun for me, but I'll try to pick it up again and give it another go watching your deep dive is getting me to try it again and maybe I'll be better since I am older. keep up the good work, I enjoy your deep dives.
