Welcome to a new playthrough of Shadows of Brimstone where we reboot with our Revised Heroes: Cadence Thackery Gaunt, Running Bear and Fifi Dubois.
Our brave Heroes have heard rumour of a vast deposit of Dark Stone buried deep down in one of the local mines and have come to seek their fortune.

She comes from Paris (Texas)
She had bright yellow hair,
and when she fought them monsters,
She daint always fight 'em fair!
Fifi! Fifi! That tough fightin' saloon gal Fifi Dubois!
Don't shoot me Paul, I'm only the piano player!
😂 Awesome Paul. Bravo sir!
Very much looking forward to this playthrough! This is a game I keep looking at out of the corner of my eye, but I know that once I dip my toes in, I'll be broke for the next year. Compulsive completionism is *expensive*
Especially for this particular game! 😄
@@Catweazle00this, kdm, and the whole ffg 2e library. 😁
@@DocHogan Oh wow Doc your collection sounds identical to mine, though I'm several grand deep into SoB already.. :)
@crimsonsun2000 Sadly, that's barely one shelf of the current library :/ I (and I'm still having a difficult time coming to terms with this concept) have entirely too many games. And WAAAAAAAY too many room-eating mega-collection games (like, why do I own ALL of Aeon's End?! I don't even like it, not even a little bit)
@@DocHogan - Same. My somewhat small-ish game room has two shelf-packed walls full of games nearly to the ceiling, many yet to be played. Having bought the two original SoBs core sets years ago, spending too much time assembling all the minis and playing once, I practically forgot about it for a long time (on a bottom shelf). I need to remember to revisit some of these, but I don't plan on picking up new expansions for anything unless it's on the table a LOT. Been curbing the completionist mindset in recent years.
I also didn't like Aeons End very much. Fortunately some gameplay vids tipped me off early to that so I only ever tried the digital version (on big sale) and it confirmed my initial impression. I guess we're the odd ones out on that, as I've seen a lot of people praise it.
The best thing to do with those old resin sculpts is throw them out and proxy. 😂😂
I forgot how much I missed the 'Crap Shuffle' segments! 🙂
They're a foundation stone of this channel! 😄
@@Catweazle00 Your channel wouldn't be the same without them! 🙂
Love this game. We use HEX crawl version makes the game so much better.
Yeah it looks good - but I play solo and hexcrawl runs into the problem of more book keeping. With a group the game can work much better in that regard 😊
Good stuff, ty!
Yes! Been really looking forward to this one.
Last year, during a move to a new home, a box containing all the tokens and miniatures for SoB, the Frontier Town expansion, and all the tokens for Folklore: The Affliction was accidentally given to Goodwill. So now I have 2 expensive, unplayable games. And frankly, putting the minis together was such an awful experience, I'm not sure I want to do it again with another version of the base game. So I'm looking forward to living vicariously through your playthrough Paul.
Man that's rough. What a nightmare. 😱😣
LOL you actually pronounced N'Orleans pretty well! Unexpected. I tip my hat to you sir.
Good to see the boys back on a new adventure with a new sidekick! Excited to start a new adventure! :-)
Fifi is looking forward to the adventure!
Been waiting for this one! 😃
Hope you enjoy the series 😊
Yay!! More Shadows!!
Hope you enjoy the series 😊
Wow, now we have a party of three and will encounter epic threats! ;-) Thanks a lot Paul for your new adventure series in the mines!
Hope you enjoy the series Sebastian 😊
Pumped for this!
Thanks for watching TT. Hope you enjoy the series 😊
You need a catch phrase for the gunslinger since you MUST actually say it to use his ability! ;)
Suggestion: "I'll cock you up!"
That sounds more like a Fifi Dubois line... 😄
Ooooh Shadows of Brimstone! Been missing this series -^_^-
Gonna be hittin' the trail! 🤠
Oh don't talk to me about bloody Flying Frog, I've been waiting for the Something Wicked expansion for A Touch of Evil to get reprinted for years. They never seem to do much about reprinting their older stuff. 😒
Yeah Shadows is their cash cow. AToE and Fortune are the red headed step kids... 😜😄
Time to look for the black rock!!! Let's get some brimstone!👍
Saddle up! 🐴
"This game is boring, luckily it's short" 😂😂
Personally I dig it a lot with the right group. 😊
Not quite what I said Jens! 😄 I find it gets very repetitive (and therefore boring!) over several missions without a break between. The missions being relatively quick means you can take break and keep it fresh. But that's just my take. It's great the game remains exciting for you and your group 😊👍
The Louisiana Three as a new posse name ?
cheers:) 🙂Looking forward to the playthrough. I dont think you start with an ability from your upgrade tree at level 1, thats gained at level 2.
I might have mucked that up because I was talking so much about the upgrade changes! I can roll that back no problem 😊
Ye i got worried have i played it wrong all this time 😊
@@dawnpatrolss2801 yeah it was me misreading the rules. It does say give your heroes an upgrade - but it is the starting upgrade (the choice between the three cards) not to use the levelling upgrade tree 🙄😄
Very valid points about S of B. The wild west what can go wrong. Flying Frog that's what.
I sold all my bits, & pieces, I much prefer Descent 2nd.
What are those corrugated player boards you are using? Perfect solution
I might be odd, but I enjoy sorting everything, I also only keep the large expansion boxes and throw all the other boxes away so it didn't bother me when I got my kickstarters.
Don't know about odd but you're certainly a lot more patient than I am! 😄
The pistol he got a hold of made him able to 1-turn most encounters provided he kept hitting, IIRC.
Yep. It was a proper cannon! 😄
@@Catweazle00 I remember now, he could spend a grit to do another shot, and due to an upgrade he gained a grit on kill, and due to an upgrade on the gun, he could reload automatically once per fight without spending an action.
Wait, when did they have you start with one of the Upgrades? I thought you only got an Upgrade when you leveled up.
I picked up the Revised expansion stuff myself when it came out, enjoyed assembling the Revised Stranglers more than I did with the originals (the way I had to hold the originals to glue them, it seemed like they were biting my fingers!). The resin isn't the best, I still have yet to assemble the original version model for the Dark Stone Shaman, but the newer version models are a little better, and they've got a better style of plastic with some of the newest models.
My latest nightmare for assembling was the Coffin Breakers models. Very thin models holding large coffin lid shields, it's hard to make sure the glue holds.
Looking forward to these episodes!
I'll recheck. I've probably run the upgrade in wrongly. No worries it's easy to roll back 😄
I don't find the new ones that much better at all. When you see what CMON manage for a similar price point it makes a guy wonder... 😄
Soooo with this being reloaded is there a way for me to bring my old copy up to scratch? I was just going to play mine as is. Is that no good now? Great video and channel!
My understanding is that the Revised Upgrade Pack is no longer available? I don't see it advertised on FFPs website. So I think you will have to use the original game cards and sheets.
The Revised Rules and Adventure Books for both original core sets are available for free download on their site.
The original game plays fine with the original game rules and components - you can download the FAQ and Errata for free as well to bring the original into line with the current game if you want or just play as you always have 😊
@@Catweazle00 thanks. I think I’ve downloaded the updated rules and adventure book. I’ll carry on and see what happens!
What kind of card holders are you using in the video? Also looking for some good table management solutions for card heavy games 😊
I use acrylic business card holders here.
I also use the foam tiles used for sound proofing in some games. The triangular cross section is ideal to hold cards.
@@Catweazle00 ty😊 what’s your brand for the card holders?
So, on the plus side: errata (!), FAQ (!), cardboard, boat load of cards, mercifully short...on the minus side...everything else. I know I'll enjoy the play though but you'd have to pay me twenty quid to player, 50 to set it up! 🙂
Negatives are just minis, progression balance and combat really 😄 All the other moans were how they packed up the KS stuff! 🤬😁
@@Catweazle00 I do love a good whinge.
Strange I've had no trouble with residue on the plastic models the metal ones have been more of an issue.
I'm twenty minutes in and wondering why you got the Mine Cart 🤣
Speaking of the minis, they don't have slotted bases or peg holes, so you need to build up the bases to get them affixed worth a damn. Argh!
Yes they are really fiddly all round 😄
Ill tell you what kinda pisses me off about FFG. They seem not to care about their fans tbh man. I love some of their games but cards not being the same color, not giving enough tokens, everything glossy, etc... just kinda lazy and greedy to me, but i like A Touch of Evil and this game anyway. I had a ton of expansions for this game but sold them off bc storage was such a nightmare.
