Its been one of those days on the dream house build. after a couple of trips to the builders merchant I discover the most satisfying sound, completely by accident. We end up getting half of the dream house drainage completed! Next episode we move to the other side of the house build😁👍

The main objective of a "P" or gulley trap, is to stop the sewer gases and fumes escaping through the drainage, that is the purpose of the soil pipe, to expel gases way above the window levels.
Put a chamber on / before the soakaway, future maintenance / inspection 👍🏼
Put the drains below the slabs. Sorted
P-traps are a must. Much easier to clean silt and moss out of a trap than to unblock the pipes!

With you focusing on sounds, both pleasant and unpleasant, are you planning on building a short frontage wall or planting along the roadway in order to mitigate the noise levels? I presume the house is thick enough with brick, block, and insulation to muffle things on the inside, but was wondering if you guys spend much time in your front yards to require some baffling? Here in the US, we used to have front porches and enjoyed the front as well as the back yards, but the trend today is more driveway, hardscape, and 8’ tall walls to block everything off. It’s sad, in my opinion.

Drains are looking good. We are up to eaves level with our brickwork, 4 courses of decorative dogtooth went on today, but 3 need to come down as they are not oversailing correct. I feel your pain with slow days.

BLWP .... Yes , have them days too often! Went to Alton Towers at the weekend so took the power tools and put them in the garage , had a great Scarefest weekend . Got to work today ..... yes tools still in the garage 😤🤯😭🧱👍🏼

Yep I’ve watched him since he started . Great cars . And he is having his house built soon !
P-traps not rodable unlike bottle traps, but can you jet them ? In reality guess only the trap might need cleaning out. An inspection chamber just before the soskaway might be a good idea so you can periodically check its all's working ok etc. Vlog format working well. Keep the progress going. The occasional backwards steps are all part of the process, better than doing it not so good way.

Yep, had loads of days where I end up running backwards and forwards to the merchants 😂 especially when your on a renovation and got sparkies and plumbers who are busy, easier to get there stuff for them they charge enough to be on site 😂
I'd do anything to drum down a sparkie or plumbers price 🤣🤣
Rodian, some authorities want soakaway crates now. Not sure with sand? Building inspector will say yay or nay. I've always used rubble and stone with a concrete cap.

You have used tick traps if you get p- traps they will be easyer to clean out

I remember thinking once the house was weatherproof and all the drainage was in, we were nearly there. However,it’s so easy to underestimate the shear amount of internal work still required, before you can say its ready to live in 👍

Hi, I Think the water in your p trap Will freece during winter.
I'd like to see how you finish off that french drain. Do you cover it with a bit of geotextile to keep soil out?
Its not a French drain its a soak away ( the big hole full of rubble). He should cover it with geotextile to form separation from the soil above otherwise it will silt up over time.
A French drain uses perforated pipe buried in a gravel trench that is wrapped in a non-woven geotextile membrane .

Long time follower, awesome video bro! You don't have to put a 90 on the end. As long as the pipe enters the soakaway you'll be fine. The rule is to go minimum fall as usual but if you find your run to be too high compared to the totl which is top of tank level slap on a bend to tap into it. I'd also make sure you leave a air vent for the soakaway, all that is a pipe tapped into the top of the sokaway to FGL (tarmac etc).

what happens when the 90 in the soakaway gets full up with mud and sh t ,it will all get backed up wont it and block after a while rodian
Hello mate this isn’t a criticism but you shouldn’t use washing up liquid it destroys the rubbers after years in the ground
You didn’t need p traps on rain . Think about the finish ie patio . Not much depth now over the run 👍🏻
I know I seen most of your videos of your build but didn't realise how sandy the ground is there did you have to do anything extra in the footings because of the ground type I'm from Dublin Ireland and we mostly have all clay interested to know and wood it be like that mutch over there 👍👍

building inspector doesnt care about rainwater drains as long as your soakaway is 5m from the building
you can lay rainwater pretty much flat if you need to.... just dont do it with foul :)

@@RodianBuilds You are blessed with a mild climate in the UK so it might not be an issue at all :-)
Not sure I understand how freezing would be an issue here - surely if water is flowing in then it's above freezing point, and if it's cold and snowing then water won't flow in anyway? I could only see it being an issue if somehow the ground was hard frozen and well below freezing but you still had rain, so the water was flowing into the pipe then freezing... not sure what you could do about that anyway!
Genuinely asking if there's a scenario where it's a problem - just buying a house right now and will need to sort out some drains!
