SWEDISH LAPLAND: A SCENIC offroad adventure around Arjeplog and Vilhelmina // EPS 17

- Get lost with me on small Swedish gravel tracks and discover the area around Arjeplog in Swedish Lapland - the most northern county of Sweden.
Our goal for the day had been to find the nicest roads in the area - and we did! From the small village Moskosel we went on a round trip to Suddesjaur, Gittun, Bergnäsviken and Hällvik along rivers, lakes and wild nature. 150 kilometers without meeting one single car. The area we were riding through is Swedish Lappland - the most northern province of Sweden. The tourism board advertises the region with the slogan: „The forest is yours!“ Anyone can walk around the forests and lakes of Swedish Lapland, Pick berries and pitch a tent pretty much anywhere.
When we arrived in Arjeplog we found a room at Hornavan Hotell - and enjoyed the sunset over lake Hornavan. Arjeplog is one of Sweden's largest, but it is also the country's least densely populated municipality. The vast majority of the population lives in the town Arjeplog, which is one of Sweden's smallest municipal seats. But even if there is not so many people - there are am amazing roads.
The next day started with an unexpected detour to Sorsele, where we had the best blueberry pancakes in the Hook & Cup Cafe. We continued to Dikanäs and ended in Vilhelmina - which is the gateway to the famous Vildmarksvägen.

I always try to keep it as natural as possible and don’t do too much of color editing - always worried that people otherwise would travel to the places I have been and be very disappointed because it looked better on video than in reality! ☺️

No the pizza was not so good to be honest! But somehow I was as well not expecting that, Lapland is just a bit too far away from Italy 😂
Sweden has some very good pizza, but maybe not so much the small towns.
I think Held makes a glove that has a wiper blade in the pointer finger, great for wiping rain/fog off visors

Muss ja gestehen ich guck deine Episoden immer 2 mal. Gleich wenn sie raus kommen auf dem Handy in der Spätschicht und wenn ich dann heimkomme nochmal auf dem TV.
Auf diese Episode freu ich mich besonders, denn da war ich 1991 auch schonmal.
Eigentlich wollten wir zelten, sind dann aber wegen der Moskitos doch in kleinen Hütten abgestiegen.

Very nice scenic pictures! I did almost the same trip last summer, but from the other direction. Unfortunately my trip ended on the bed of a tow truck in the middle of nowhere, when the drive shaft broke on my bike.

I’m looking forward to the video of vildmarkvägen, in the three times i visited the region i never was able to entirely drive that route because of winter-closing and/or to much snow on Stekenjokk mountain…

The yellow Hut... Whose white windows wake up..., flanked by a lake with mantles the green spruces are reflect like a mirror..., in such and quiet waters. Sun is rising, not for long. Soon will be clouding.... Time for buying some chocolats, the journey will be long... Saint Claus is waiting, some reindeers are eating some delicious leaves.
The border is waiting for two riders, finally. Some roads are not allowed to circulate with smarts phones turn on, no cameras on... Swedish gravel trails aren't a destination, just a way to catch a target. Small roads, flanked by forest and lakes, make the ride beautiful... Feel yourself fly, like a Sparrow in such beautiful and unique land..., incredible and peaceful sunset, gradually shining in their faces.
Tomorrow will be a great day..... Some pancakes are waiting, very delicious.they find it a difficult day.... Pity that Ducati is crying again, but a great and hot pizza is waiting... A "local" fotographer is not very good, but he does his best for a portrait of a lady...

There is always room in the tank bag for a good paper map of the proper scale & recent vintage. Marking turns & intersections with the odometer and compass points also works, if no maps are helping. GPS is too easily relied upon when it is least reliable. Me, I am blessed with an innate sense of direction, as if I have a mind's-eye drone view. I've been like this all of my life, long before drones existed. I don't know how it works, but it has never let me down. Mmmm, pancakes for breakfast tomorrow.
My orientation is pretty good too - but it’s always confusing me if the Navi want to work against me 😂
Im a swede, but live more of the southern part of the country. I really enjoy the northern parts of our country and i've been traveling there every summer three years in row now. :) Good roads and very variating and beautiful landscapes.

We also took the Sagovägen (the one where you came down to Stalon and you explored roads by your self). @@Got2Go I know how it is on the road, you can't get it all. But I see that You got a lot of other stuff I didn't along your route. I also "succeeded" with deleting the majority of my footage from our trip, it was still stored in camera and not transferred. This let me down so I have not edited the footage that I still have...😝. I see that you are behind in your reporting and are curious of what you are up to in real time. Planning for the next adventure I assume? Secrets or open plans? Best regards/ Mattias

Beautiful riding and having all that forest landscape to yourselves, you lucky things. Your video has cheered me up after a bad afternoon in the garage trying unsuccessfully to but on a new rear tyre. It seems they are a lot easier to take on and off when they’ve been on the bike for a while.

Sven et moi ont participé à la plantation des arbres au nord. Nous avons pris son Fiesta. Au temps, les motos hors piste s'évoluaient vers les freins à disque. Il était surpris après traversant un ruisseau quand il a perdu ses freins arrière pour un certain temps.
