It seems to me that nearly every single Chinese drama there is always a mistress, Let me say this as an English woman who was raised by two madly in love with each parents had my father cheated on my mother he would have needed a surgeon to remove his balls from his throat. Infidelity is not cute it is not funny and very very rarely do the mistress and wife become best friends. Arguments are fine it clears the air. Chinese men seem to think it is their right and especially when the wife is pregnant. The wife can still have sex unless in very rare cases she has been told no. I am sick of seeing the same drama it's the same script nearly which is a shame because Chinese period dramas are phenomenal.

Sadly they come from a patriarchal society when the men had a few wives and concubines as a norm. Even with the legal enforcement of only 1 wife, the old habits and ideas are hard to stop. Which man doesn’t need an excuse to womanize and have love affairs?

They are in a fake marriage. I am not sure what the reasons are but they will fall for each other. He’s already falling for her and she’s jealous and doesn’t even realize. What she said to him was harsh because deep down he is slowly going in her heart
The primary of these stories is for the audience to enjoy and learn how to survive about life, not to advertise the cullture of abuse, infidelity, submissiveness...these dramas encourage hatred, anger, and negativities that do not inspire people....such a waste of time...
