The roots of Pak Mei - Documentary on Siye Lao Wei San 2015

  • 4 years ago I made this documentary with my crew.
I always wanted to make a documentary about my Sifu since I met him.
For me, my students, to spread the reality of what we do.
Lao Wei San is someone really discreet and secret, but I made up my mind. Someone really close to him passed away in 2015 and I told him that I am not Chinese and most of people will doubt my words on what is Kung Fu. No one will doubt his, because he is the son of Lao Siu Leung, because his level says it all and his thinking is just pure gold.
This man lives in the shadow but he accepted to share the conversation we always have in front of the camera.
Now it is the time to release it.
It is the eight years opening of my school.
    Enjoy.

This is a wonderful insight in kungfu and what a powerful and meaningful art Pak Mei is. I actually came across it through the game. I am a long time martial arts practitioner and this style looks very effective and powerful. Very inspiring documentary on the Chinese culture as well. Perhaps one day i come across one of you practitioners. For now i continue deepening my Jeet Kune Do and Taijquan knowledge and skills, and I'm always open to learn more. Thanks for making an excellent game and documentary!

I came to your CZcams channel after playing the video game Sifu. Curious, I’ve watched most of your videos, but I don’t think I understood until I saw this beautiful explanation and retelling. This video moved me very deeply. Thank you for sharing this art and introducing it to people who would never have been exposed to it otherwise.

Wude = respect= to Teacher, to Ancestor , to Student too, it’s hard to find a Good Man

Speak in Cantonese. We can tell the sifu is a native canto speaker trying to speak in Mandarin. And most of us internationally watching this speak Cantonese. Especially a southern martial art like Pak Mei, speak in the mother tongue of where it's from.

“When their body is loose then we will see”. Yes indeed. So much to learn from this humble mans comments. “To be a man is to want peace”. I will remember that.

Much RESPECT. Nice to see Kung Fu spread and to see such a connection between disciple and Sifu. Authentic respect and love is needed for an art to survive.

He’s right one who has Kung fu must have wude because it’s shaolin principally aswell as great generations of martial artist in China hold these principles of wude or Martial virtues

Thank you Benjamin, for this fantastic documentary with English subtitles. You are very lucky to have met Sifu Lao Wei San. Often it's all about money, but this Sifu lives for his Kung Fu and wants to transfer that to someone worthy. He has a lot of faith in you, and that is nice to see.

The impressive game Sifu brought me here. The martial arts choreography in the game is outstanding and blew me away, which made me want to know more about the art. I think by now I have become infected with the Pak Mei virus haha, the more I learn about it the more I want to know. As a lifelong martial artist I have practiced various arts (Judo, Wing Chun, JKD, Karate and Aikibudo) and met multiple masters, Pak Mei looks powerful and effective and I recognize it immediately when I see a true Sifu. You are truly the definition of a Sifu. There are very few masters like you. Your students are lucky to have you. I wish I lived in Paris too then I would have started Pak Mei right away. Thank you for making the impressive game and this amazing

I’ve been playing Sifu a lot more recently and since then I’ve instantly googled Pak Mei and I’ve been hooked ever since… And this documentary alone has inspired me to learn the art myself… I have so much respect for the style and the culture of it keeping the craft sacred… As a martial artist myself I have respect for all styles period… They all bring something to the table… Hopefully one day I can train and learn Pak Mei kung fu… Much respect due
