Great solo hunt. I appreciate that you are a true sportsman. Knowledgeable, well equipped and not out to slaughter whatever moves. Really enjoyed watching the birds come in. I appreciate the whole experience you shared. Brings back memories. Take care and stay safe!
Thank you very much! The entire waterfowl experience is what I strive to show in these videos so I appreciate you letting me know that I've been able to do that!
Birds are finally here. My morning ritual begins with vou and a coffee before I hit the blind. 🇨🇦 🤘
After watching the first half of the video I didn’t know if you’d ever miss! Great hunt. Looks like Texas is treating you well.
Thanks for sharing! My day was a bust so it's nice to see someone else was droppin em
You are a great shot. Amazing lead without being overbearing and 10/10 follow through especially on that sprig. Keep up the good stuff man. I love watching a good shot versus a skyblaster.
Thanks man! Its taken me a long time to get comfortable with my shooting but finally feel like I got into a groove this season
Birds are finally here. My morning ritual begins with vou and coffee lol 🇨🇦
Yes the beginning this video was very cool Thomas I like what you doing good job
Dude! Your first shots have a gotten so much better! great work, looks like an awesome hunt. Extremely jealous of the low pressure hunting, ohio hunter here and it is rough.
Thanks man! It's been a heck of a time out here so far, certainly learning a lot. It really is a different world than what we're used to in the east between the bird numbers and lack of hunters out in this area
I really liked the intro music and description of the spot and conditions at the beginning).
Good hunt, Thomas! Glad you made it back safe!!!
Thanks Tim! A little pucker factor there for a bit but came out alright, just gotta be smarter next time
Great Hunt and filming. That’s Ok to miss a Spooney and pass on Gadwals when Mallards and Sprig are around
Thanks Gary! Wasn’t too upset I missed out given all the greenheads around
From the Great Northwest public Duck Blind Thomas absolutely we have to pay attention to where our surroundings are at all times we hunt so hard out there that we often forget about the time great hunt nice looking birds and yes you are a straight shooter good job and God bless stay safe
Awesome hunt man one of my favorites! Be safe out there GooseFace
Thanks Kev! Looking forward to hopefully seeing Jordo's video from y'alls hunt yesterday
This is a nice and calm video about duck hunting and lead so I kind of want to do this
Thanks! It’s hard to beat when it comes to hunting but I am a little biased
Great video! Love hunts like that. Would love to see Texas trips.👍
Thanks brother! There will be some more Texas hunts coming out soon, I’ll be down here until the end of January
Looks like a fantastic hunt once again. Keep up the great work. Love the videos
Wish I could say it’s been good. Screwy weather as usual. Plenty of mergs around this year for some reason. Geese are moving in pretty good too. Trying to go to the Potomac soon and get on some divers. I want a can so bad. My daughter just moved to Texas and from the looks of it lots of water down by her. Guess I’m gonna have to plan some visits during duck season from the looks of it. Lol keep up the great work. Love seeing the public land hunts.
I would definitely recommend getting down here if you can and just let me know and I'll try to point you in the right direction. Sorry to hear the weather hasn't been cooperating, can't say I've heard good reports from many of my buddies though honestly. Hope it picks up for y'all in January!
I really respect you for not shooting and wounding every duck you see. Support from Finland!
Making me jealous down there! VT ended sunday and we got a shot at 1 goldeneye in 5 hours... heck of a way to end the year.
Sorry to hear about the lack of action Derek, can’t say many of my buddies further down the east coast are having much luck either though unfortunately
Great day of duck hunting! Can't complain when you had a chance at a limit and shot a bunch of nice birds!
Thanks Chase! Definitely had the chances just gotta be a little quicker on the trigger next time
Nice hunt Thomas! Great sprig. Never had the pleasure of bagging one! Hope holidays are enjoyable for you!!
Thanks Mark! Very blessed to have the chance at some down here. Holidays have been a lot of fun, hope yours went well!
HELLO, IT HAS BEEN VERY ENJOYABLE VIDEO. CONGRATULATIONS, GOOD LUCK ..
That was an excellent hunt man. The first few ducks you stoned. Love the video footage you got and that Hawk was super cool.
Thank you! Could've shot a little better but there is always room for improvement I guess. That hawk was one of the coolest things I've had happen in a while. Could've probably touched him
@@HokeOutdoors the first few shots you took I was like dude, this joker can slap shoot. I mean one shot and no follow ups. Later on my friend
Great videos! Just subscribed!
Relocating to Virginia from Florida in two months, so I look forward to learning more about this great state and its many hunting opportunities.
Awesome Solo! You definitely got some Stud Texas Birds!! Sorry we couldn’t make a hunt happen while you were down. Would have been a great time. Safe Travels back home.
Thanks Colby! I’m actually still down here until the end of January but will be working a lot
Hey great hunt! Looked awesome. I'm in north central Texas in Wichita Falls right near the Oklahoma border. Hope to see some more Texas hunts. Looking forward to this coming weekend good dose of a cold front coming. God bless stay safe.
Thanks Adam, I'm working about an hour south of you but travel up closer to WF to hunt some mornings. Feel free to shoot me a DM on instagram/facebook or an email if you'd like to try and link up for a hunt. There will definitely be more Texas videos coming out and I'll actually have a new one out this evening. Hope this cold front does good things for us, blowing hard right now, stay safe as well if you get out this week/weekend
Awesome yeah, I don't do Facebook or Instagram, here's my email theadamwhatband@gmail.com maybe we can connect if not no biggie just pretty cool your in the area.
Awesome intro man!! Loved the hunt! Seems like Tx is treating you good! I wish I got into it more when I was stationed at Ft. Bliss. . Love that state though! 7mph winds is where I call it a day in the kayak. Gotta watch that wind on big water for us kayakers lol
Thanks Chris! It’s a whole different world out here compared to the east coast, would definitely recommend getting on some hunts if you’re back out here anytime. Got lucky this time but it’s certainly something I need to keep a better eye on
Late reply to you Duckalope but let me tell you, when I was stationed at Fort Bliss, duck hunting is all I did!!! The hunting there was off the chain and it’s ruined other places for me lol! Too bad you missed out
@@manifestdestiny1191 I got room in the career to make one more move before this retirement packet we loved it at Bliss! I’ll probably end up back there. Right now I’m digging the Middle/West Tennessee hunting for sure.
Awesome episode. Nice set up
great to see a young bloke hunting so well.keep it going.Phil [old fart]
Well done Thomas great shooting too, just be careful
Thanks Antonio, definitely will be keeping a better eye on wind from now on
I’ve been watching ur videos for quite a while. I’m from DFW area. What lake did u do ur kayak hunt. I’ve been wanting to do a kayak hunt also. Great content. I’ve learned so much as a beginner waterfowl hunter. Thanks man
Good vid n good hunt, surprised to see there weren’t others out there
Just watched this hint on the Outdoor Limits channel. Great job on the intro and video.
Welcome to Texas. The area that you hunted in looks very familiar. Great video.
Thanks Jeremy! If you have hunted this lake before I would think it would be rather recognizable but not sure how many lakes look similar in this area
Nice hunt man. I hunt north Texas reservoirs with the yak as well. Would love to find that grass. I’m hunting bottomlands.
Dennis try the Cado National Grasslands at Lake Davy Crockett or Coffee Mill Lake. It gets a little competitive at times.
Fantastico!
Nice work Thomas.
So compared to a typical Va. morning what’s your initial thoughts on TX. Is south the way to go because of more resident birds plus migrators or is it the flyway? East and west?
Thanks Jacob! I definitely just think it’s a flyway and area thing. The central flyway has at least 10x the amount of birds compared to the Atlantic if not more. Also pressure is just so much lower out here that birds are able to stack up in an area without getting blown out. I would almost never try and setup after shooting light in VA but with just so many birds out here I was confident I’d have some opportunities mid morning
Holler at me on your way back from Texas if you still want to swing through Arkansas and hunt. Looks like a fun hunt!
I definitely will if I head back that way before the season closes. Really wanted to get up with you on the way out there but didn’t line up with my schedule
@@HokeOutdoors since our woods opened up man it has been a ton of fun. Holler at me if you get the chance. Hope Texas is fun! Looks like it is
Hell yeah, will do! Texas is just a different world compared to what I’m used to back East, love it though
Hey Thomas I have a franchi affinity 3 and my magazine is very stiff and catches my thumb a lot is there anything you’ve done differently?
Alright Texas! My neck of the woods! If you ever need a place to stay, hit me up!
what a hunt brotha. one of the coolest hunts I've watched. Hope TX is treating you well!!
Thanks Zach, appreciate you watching! Been a blast out here! Hope VA has been good to you
If you don’t mind me asking where about was this on Caddo, I’m looking to trying out caddo with my Hobie this year but other than the bigger side of the lake I don’t know the area too well.
Nice video thomas. Glad to see you're still able to get out for some solo time. Great birds but definitely some of your best shooting as well. Good luck in texas
Thanks Shawn! Some practice on birds through the course of the season always seems to help
So proud of you passing on them gagwalls 😂. That was a stud pintail for sure!
Lol thanks Matt! They aren’t gonna be so lucky though if they visit me again anytime soon
what shotshells do u use?
Awesome hunt!! What call were you using because it worked good and my call is a standard quack not that kind of sounds you were making?
Thanks man! I was just using a primos 5 in1 whistle on this hunt and making a drake mallard whistle and pintail whistle with it mostly
Just came across ur channel. Hooked on the vids man. Awesome job. What motion duck were you using in this hunt?
Thanks brother! I appreciate you watching the videos. I was just using a higdon pulsator on this hunt since I didn’t have the handle my motion ducks spreader at the time
Great video. Great shooting. What type of motorized decoy butt were you using in your spread on this hunt?
You mind telling me what lake this is. I live in the area and haven't seen this place. I live just north of Knox city.
Where did you find the Northern Flight blind? Been looking for one for a month now!
That 3rd mallard drake went down.. hope you found him.
Good hunt btw
Thanks, unfortunately I wasn’t able to get that bird, he was losing altitude all the way to the tree line but I never saw him fall
That’s right unfortunately. Wish I would never lose another bird but it happens
What is tree camera on the end of your shotgun. Is the kayak cover universal.
The camera on my gun is a ShotKam (bit.ly/HokeOutdoors-ShotKam). The kayak cover is a cabelas northern flight kayak blind, it's not universal but fits a few different models
Been thinking about them waders but price is the only thing keeping me. What you think about them?
How do you like the high n dry waders?
Just came across your video. We have a place right on lake Somerville. If you are ever back down I would love a duck hunting partner on the lake. I also kayak hunt and fish this lake. Good luck on the upcoming season!
Thanks Jared! I’ll let you know if I’m headed down that way again this season, would definitely be down to link up if I’m able to. Good luck to you this season as well!
Hey Jared, I know Somerville Pretty well. I live is Bryan/College station area, we should link up and get a hunt together out there!
Cool video Thomas ...as
Thanks Sly!! I’m working down in Knox City but this hunt was in the Witchita Falls area. Beautiful country out here
Thank you for all the work you do to make this for us. What is the name of your kayak blind?
Great video! What is that tipping decoy you are using? I would love to get one.
Awesome hunt! Was that a higdon pulsator motion decoy you were using?
What blind was this on the 119? I have 6 i need to outfit for myselfn womann and 4 boys.
what lake was this hunt?
I’ve got a solo sportsman 119 too. Are you running the same blind they say is for the ascend? Or is there one made for the 119
I'm using the Cabelas Northern Flight blind that is made for the Ascend, it fits the 119 very well though
@@HokeOutdoors thanks brother! Love the float hunting content. That’s most of my duck hunts, but you knock them down more often than I do!
What lake In Texas was this , I don’t own land in state and love to hunt ducks.
Nice video Thomas, I know where is that lake don’t want to mention names and I tried it with kayak previously it is dangerous if the wind picked up on you
Nice cove always producing
Cabelas Northern kayak blind is not available since September I have one my body needs one up in Nebraska he couldn’t find any
Thanks brother! Shoot me an email or instagram/facebook message if you would like to link up out there. Gonna be hunting out there again soon and wouldn't mind some company
Old Town Discovery 119 comes up as a "Canoe". Is there more to the discription? I am looking for something to hunt like you did out of.
Here is a link to the Discovery 119. It is listed as a canoe but I consider it more of a canoe/kayak hybrid due to the single seat layout
oldtowncanoe.johnsonoutdoors.com/canoes/fishing/discovery-119-solo-sportsman
What kayak or canoe are you using and what blind?
I'm using a Old Town Discovery 119 and I've got a Cabelas Northern Flight kayak blind on it
Well done! Reminds me of my own "good old days!"
Thank you! Hope I can keep these good old days rolling for a while
