- After seeing videos of this game I knew that I had to make a video about this at some point. Now that I've been able to actually play it, I made this so that hopefully this game gets more exposure in the West.

Epic washing machine game
Yos
As a maimai player. When I first played i thought to myself "this looks like a washing machine". Your not wrong tho
@@csb8888 Yeah , and thats why instead of saying "im going to go play mai mai" , id say "ima do my laundry"
Yes
These cabinets were always full at my local arcade. It was even worse when someone would do single player as it would basically shut down the other cabinet and you’d have to wait til the other person finished 3 songs. I felt so bad when this group behind me just kind of had to stand there awkwardly as I played vocaloid tracks while I did single player.
Also great content man, a lot of videos like this are what help me keep an eye out on what arcade cabinets I should be looking out for
We have it in our local retro arcade. Think it might be the only one in the UK.
When I'm playing single player I've got someone else trying to start the 2nd machine. I always tell them wait till I finish then you can go on.
@@Adzcantsing And then you can play with them!👍
Two players rewards you with 4 songs instead of 3.☺
@@stujamieson3944prefer being the solo player. Think the one I play in the UK is offline. I only really play vocaloid songs.
That part really sucks that you have to wait your turn when playing alone
@@matthew_natividad when you think about it would be off putting with another song right next to you concentrating on your own.
I work at a round one (don't speak for brand or company, yadda yadda) and whenever someone asks for a game card it makes me so happy knowing there's a new person taking the next step into the community I've grown to know and love
this is so nice :’0 i’m just a customer there but i feel the same way when i see people with their game cards. it’s such a great feeling to be hanging out with people who have the same love for these games as i do
@@olidon96 I know! Just the other day I hung out with someone I met playing rhythm games with while I was on my lunch break (yes, I use my lunch break to play rhythm games, no I'm not the only one)
can i use old banapassport on maimai dx??
@@freezerfridge7486 I guess you could. I have a non-Amusement IC banapass and still works fine on maimaidx and chunithm
the mai mai community is fun. extremely fun.
There's MaiMai in the Philippines here in Quantum, unfortunately it isn't still set up as far I last visited in the mall, so maybe the next time I got the chance to go to Quantum again, I'd gladly spend my whole allowance to discover this game for the first time
Edit: QUANTUM FINALLY MADE MAIMAI UP AND RUNNING!!! It is running in DX Universe, 8 tokens is a lot for 3 songs to try but it seems fun! I enjoyed this game a lot, I'll upload my gameplay later on my channel ^^
When I saved up much money, I will play Maimai ever again :3
quantum had mai mai?! last time I went there, there was only sdvx booth and beat mania!
ooh, there’s maimai here in thailand too!
in central plaza phitsanulok, there’s a maimai finale cabinet (still no dx :[) and for 2 tokens you can play 4 songs
@@FloranteSantos1 Nearly all SM Quantum branches have maimai, they also sell aime cards (though you have to be quick as they run out very quickly)
I’m also in the Philippines, and it’s in other branches of Quantum too, such as Power Station! I’ve been playing for like half a year now, and it’s honestly my favorite arcade game.
@@FloranteSantos1 Yep, 3 years ago the Quantum in my area only had sdvx, jubeats and Museca. All of them are still there but jubeats was removed and replaced a year after by Mai Mai
heres hoping sega rhythm games gains more popularity in the west
Your channel deserves so much more man keep it up
my first experience of maimai was at a local arcade downtown. maimai has turned into my favorite game ever, that and WACCA reverse. my arcade has the maimai finale model. everything down to the characters, song selection and gameplay. me and all of my friends all enjoy. i LOVE maimai.
also about the learning curve, it is absolutely SO forgiving!! i feel like im always improving!
Sincerly i think this channel is extremly underrated, like, the explanation, the edit, the script is very clean easy to understand, it goes to the point, in a short period of time (even though i would like to be a little bit longer like 10 minutes just my opinion), is amazing, pls keep going this kind of videos and the gameplays are really worthit!!!
Parasodia is the song and yes even I wish that my videos were 10 minutes hahaha
I recently went to my local arcade in Melbourne, and I was extremely excited to see this rythm game just lying there. I spent at least three hours just playing it that day and haven't looked back
I'm so happy to see Japanese arcade machines bleeding into the outside world!
Thank you for making this video! I could not agree with you more about the accessibility of IIDX. It was (and still is) one of the most difficult rhythm games I have ever played, and was quite frustrating to learn, lol. Maimai looks way more accessible and I can't wait to try it out (if there is a machine nearby).
My Round 1 has 4 offline finale cabs. I've been playing for about 3 months now, and I recently got my Glorious Crown mas clear.
It's frustrating not having Touhou/Vocaloid in the folder, but it's been really good.
An interesting thing about maimai is how heavily it emphasizes multiplayer, you get 4 songs instead of 3 when playing two player (at least with all the cabs I've tried in Australia, I'm pretty sure it's the default), and also don't forget how the arcade cab is literally entirely designed around having two people play at once (instead of two separate cabs in a network based cab group)
sometimes u do see the forbidden 1 player cabinet lying around on the internet, also in the past if u play 1 player u also get 4 songs, sadly they changed that
Great video! I'm pretty sure the clip at 0:50 is in Rohnert Park! I'm blessed to live close by one of these amazing games.
It is actually. It was the only maimai machine in my near vicinity.
Just one correction: Actual Multiplayer is actually only for 2 ppl (as a pair); but with 店内マッチング (matching inside the store) it can support up to the amount of machines available in that specific arcade.
Most arcades have four machines (two pairs), but there are some non-SEGA arcades that only have two, and on the other hand that one arcade in Shinjuku has got SIX (three pairs) maimai machines
Another correction: If by a "pair" you mean two screens, then a machine = a pair. Those two screens are part of the same machine, so it'd be incorrect to consider them separate.
an arcade here in philippines has 5 machines (10 washing machine screens) lmao but i cant 100% remember if it was really 5 or 4
@@jerecakes1 Back when I made the comment I didn't know but in Akihabara building 1 there is an arcade with 6-7 machines (12-14 screens) lol
@@Anonymous-jo2no thats almost the same in singapore, i saw 16 screens in a single arcade
thank you for the quality rhythm game videos, hope to see one on sound voltex one day
Thanks and I'm definitely planning to do an SDVX video.
for the "attention to detail" part, here's another one. In Ether Strike (a song from Arcaea), there's a sample that says "my guiding star." Now, in the maimai chart of the song, you have to drag a slide note (which the note is a star) along the sample
Could you make a video on beatmania? Would be cool to see about the history/community surrounding it. Love the quality/information of your videos!
the first time i was introduced to mai mai , i instantly got addicted id spent a shit ton of money just for a whole 5 hours (or more) of just mai mai. It got to the point where it felt like i couldnt go on without playing the game.
I never regreted loving this game at all.
As someone who gets to live in japan for a few years, I love playing maimai and kancolle. There was a time 2 months ago, i went everyday. So I've gotten pretty good, lol. Even do ranked every now and then, gotten into A4.
How the heck do u not have at least 100k subscribers lol ur content is so clean and good
Btw ty for the video haha i ended up learning maimai after watching your vid and its so damn fun
Me: Finally an SS on Master 13
Others in the arcade: Shake their heads while getting SSS on Master 14+
Yeah, it feels great to play your favorite anime series/songs on maimai and that you can show off to friends your skills and songs. It’s also a perfect place to find and interact with cool like-minded who are interested in ACGN culture.
I have visit China a few years ago in Shanghai and was happened to go to a gigantic mall and the arcade are full of weebs since this kind of ACGN culture is still relative niche at the time atleast in the arcade area. I had a wonderful experience.
Been playing maimai for a while and I have to say the most fun thing to do is when you’re spinning around the wheel or sliding with the touch notes.
Maimai is finally coming to NZ, doing laundry just got a whole lot cooler
Back in 2019, I didn't see any of these cabinets (let alone anything about this game) in the mall arcades I have gone to in PH, but recently in August this year, when we were in the US, me and my sis were watching a mall tour of one of the malls we frequent back then in YT, my eye caught something: *a maimai cabinet in an arcade*
And it was real too
Let's just say I have plans to do when we go back to PH.
Nice introduce! Glad to meet maimai player from United States!
I have been in Japan for the last couple weeks and I absolutely fell in love with this game.
In Vietnam, maimai cabs are always full of people. This game is getting more attention
started maimai 3 months ago and been addicted to it ever since, on the cusp of finally reaching 10k rating come the release of Festival tomorrow!
i found this game a few months ago when i went to an arcade with a friend. i had a similar reaction and it became an instant fav! i must go back sometime
i started playing during 2018 cause i found out there is 1 in the mall near my college basically go there eveyday after class, it was maimai murasaki then it upgraded to maimai milk. i remember it can play 4 song on solo play but the current version not only u get to play only 3 song unless u play with duo but the layout was confusing, i try to select vocaloid song but it only show past maimai version label, i cant really take my time to figuring out as the machine has time and there is player waiting and i dont know how to change my speed tempo so i basically play expert mode with slow tempo, only after play for 3 round i know how to change speed tempo. if i have time i goto the deserted maimai in other mall to figuring out the layout
I actually play the finale version at a local small arcade,I’m quite new but improving quickly. With the stars you have to drag it across the screen pretty sure
I remembered my first week playing maimai. I overplayed that game till my whole arm hurt for the whole first week. I still continue playing on the second week tho.
I'm still flabbergasted that SEGA picked their test location at my nearest Backrooms level, Puentes Hills Mall. I need SEGA to not gatekeep this from the East World besides Oceania.
the maimai at the round1 about 2 hrs away from is really nice. never been to one before in my life and went with my friends and they really had a good time even though it was the offline maimai. Wish they imported the maimai DX here! I would love to play the latest songs. Since it's offline it wasn't that popular.
I'm about to pull the trigger and buy one of these cabinets.
Won’t be surprised when this channel gets a bit more attention.
So had my first session recently and it's great fun! Though, I tried to scan my e-amuse IC and I was hit "check if card is compatible". The version was Universe DX. Is there any other icon denoting a cab is ONLINE other than saying it at the bottom of the screen like how DDR has it?
Got to play Maimai after 8 on the Break got it a few days ago. Super fun game and I seem to be progressing quite fast.
Try the beat map Maxrage, it’s my favorite and a really good song
recently started going back to play, i can clear expert and getting A, some with AAA if i pay extra attention. starting to get addicted since it's so fun
Update: i can s+/ss most Master songs now, i've come a long way..
Maimai finally updated also to maimai universe plus and kaikaikitan song has its own map already in the new update.
Osama scramble dx version IS ADDICTING...ITS TOO FUN XD
funny thing, we actually did get a kaikai kitan maimai chart
Great video!!
They have one of these at the cidercade in austin they also have jcube and sound vortex
first played maimai a week ago after waiting for 8 years, well worth it
Started playing the washing machine. I got obsessed with rythm games
The first thing I go when come to mall is MAIMAI 😭😭😭 I'm so obsessed with the game even I'm nub
Finally a video that's telling people to play maimai
I got a few finale cabinets at my local arcade. too bad it's offline though...at least chunithm is online! wish North Florida had a round 1...
They had this game at the arcade room at NDK Denver, and I'm so sad that I won't be able to play after the con is over ;-;
He mentions "CRAZY CIRCLE" as his favorite soundtrack. I like!
This game is addicted as hell. Well, i played it almost everyday, just couldnt stop xD
It is so much fun 😍😍 Currently in Taiwan playing the heck out of it!
Tips : If anyone have old banapassport (like banapassport wangan 4 version) you can use the card on maimai splash, dx or later...
Lmao thks for including me in this video
There's a Scandia near me that has one, it's so amazing
got quite a lot of this machine around Malaysia too
been playing this when it first arrive Malaysia market
but maybe I'm just getting old now these day, can't really catch up the hardcore level. xD
some how, this the only Rhythm game that still active in Malaysia.
SDVX, Jubeat, Rhythm Coaster all gone.
i think this video inspired me a little to play maimai
12 month playin and finally able s rank lvl 12
I just got into maimai just a month ago with some DX machines close by to where I currently live, now addicted, and on my first session I heard the song at 0:58. I've been trying to find out what its name is for a while now, but without any luck. Can I have the name please?
it's Paradisoda
When i get to japan i will find this game asap
thanks for the idea at 2:20 - 2:26
I was able to play this when I visited Vietnam and it’s really fun. I had to wait a while tho cause this big group was playing for hours on it. Wish they had the game near me
Vietnamese here, I hope you enjoyed your visit to my country! And yeah the game is pretty popular here from what I can tell, whenever I come to the arcade there's always at least one person using the machine. Worth the wait though definitely
i tried it yesterday and i played with 2 people! Its a pretty fun bonding experience tbh
Slight correction, you don't need a Banapassport with the Amusement IC logo on Sega machines and vice versa.
Mom: Go do the laundry
Me: Ok, just let me grab my aime card
Ok so there’s also a few machines of this at Singapore arcades like Timezone. I played it since last year
Yes! I actually played on one in Virtualand over at NEX but I heard Cow Play Cow Moo over in Bugis is pretty good for their cheap rates
@@FNWeeaboo You’re from Singapore too?
@@Swift-GachaAndStuff Haha no lah, visited Singapore in the summer. Quite shiok eh
@@FNWeeaboo You also know Singlish ah? I tell you ah, if you visit again, the western food at block 347 every shiok.
I'm lucky enough to have a Mai Mai finale machine 20 minutes away from home
the parisoda at the background tho
Anyone know the song that starts playing in the background at 2:12?
3:15 Ah utage map, I really miss those map
Maimai is a button-oriented/touchscreen capable version of Samba De Amigo, change my mind.
I wanna know if there's any CZcamsrs like you who make such great videos like these.
Losermanwins is pretty good. I particularly enjoy his Dead Rhythm Game series
This game is really fun lol I wish I had footage of me playing it!
You can set up a tripod and a phone and place it where you can see your hands and the screen, ask another player to help adjust, they will be more than happy to help
I FREAKING love maimai
i played maimai for the first time today, it’s pretty fun :)
Just started playing maimai in the Philippines
Would you ever make a video about Gitadora ? Great video btw
Maybe, though I have other games that I would like to cover first
@@FNWeeaboo sdvx 🥴🥴🥴
question tho, how do u get that card thingy? always used guest on my part and cant keep track of my record
Sega uses the Aime system, usually you find them in Japan. They also run on the Amusement IC system. If you'd like I made a whole video that you can check out on these cards.
maimai for me has been the best experience ever. Absolutely amazing game, probably my all time favorite! :D
I saw this video the day after going to an arcade and playing it for at least 2-3 hours
Probably going to play maimai in person for the first time tomorrow, been ghostplaying charts for a while and stumbled across this video
God I wished I played at gamenest in Vegas when I was there
Spent all my time getting addicted to CHUNITHM instead :kekw: also played a few SDVX songs there
Will update this :3
Kaikai kitan is in maimai dx universe
You can also bring banapass,if you don't have aime, the machine can read them
Yup I made this video before Kaikai Kitan got added into maimai so I was surprised they actually did it
Are you planning to do a video for Dance Evolution?
It's kind of a dead game so refer to my Dead Rhythm Games video for my overview on Dance Evo. Still love the game though.
is it okay if I play Mai Mai even tho I'm bad at it?? I really want to play it but I'm embarrassed that the pro players waiting in line might hate me because im just playing the easiest mode rather than what mode they play
Of course! To be real with you everyone's too busy thinking about their next game rather than paying attention to you. So long as you're not destroying the machines or anything you should be good.
This is the best Rhythm Game I've played (IN MY OPINION).
It's super addicting, easy to play, the soundtrack slaps, and it's a blast!!!
BREAKNEWS EVERYONE!!!
MaiMai is now available in Vietnam with much cheaper credits for MaiMai!
You got the playlist for the music used in your vid?
Not anymore sorry about that
Man, if only I was over in the east
I completely agree with seconds 0-14!
omggg i've always wanted to play maimai, and finally there's maimai at the nearest mall!!!!!!! when i went to the mall, i got really shy and i cant play cuz idk how the buttons near the game works 😭. i saw like, two arrow buttons. the left one has 1P text above it, and the right one have 2P above it. like, i have to click on the right arrow? to play??? (there was one person playing on the left one).
it looks like it's convenient to have cards instead of the tokens. i still dont know how the cards work tho.
also the multiple player thingy, i noticed that 2 maimai machines were in sync????? like, i have to wait for the other player to finish so i could play??? (honestly, idk how to socialize. this is quite a nightmare to me 😭. i wonder if there's like a time where no one's playing maimai 😬)
I would play it…if it was available in my area. Pain…
Sometimes, when I take a trip though, it’s nice to visit arcades that have this game.
I am so lucky! I live in a hour from Evropeisky (russian mall), and there is Round one opened! Now, i can easily go to round one and play this game!
maimai machine should have nationwide for rhythm game players. Hopeless to say there is no maimai in New Zealand
Uhm hey one question can a 3.5 wired earphones can fit into a Mai Mai Dx earphone jack
Yes
we *need* double charts for people that play on 2 machines at the same time
I would play this game but there is always this group of rhythm gamers gatekeeeping the machine cuz there's only one set 💀
Here in England we have 3 locations that have maimai finale with one in bury and the other in Leeds but the other I’m not too sure. for some reason it doesn’t support aime card so I have to play as a guest but hopefully they’ll find a way to get it working eventually.
[update] maimai in bury location is online though not officially run by sega but the aime cards work like normal.
England cabinets are offline cabinets and the aime card won't work unfortunately.
@@Irhlix but I thought they had to be online to be able to run even though the cards won’t work. I hope they get round it one day like they have with bemani games so we can have other versions of maimai and not just finale.
@@mrpickles6968 unfortunately no. Maimai finale is a discontinued version of maimai. Unless they managed to obtain a maimai dx machine, which is unlikely, the aime card won't work
There are a couple of maimai machines in chief coffee Chiswick and free play city somewhere in London, but I can’t recall which versions they are
@@ZuiVeemo they're both finale, and the one in fpc has servers :)
rumors have it fps is gonna get a dx cab soon
0:54 is that at Game Nest in Las Vegas?
Yes
Thank you for the video! I'd love to have this here in Europe but at least according to the site you suggested there's almost no arcades in my country and the few that exist do not have any of SEGA's rhythm games. Sorry to bother, but what's the song at 2:13?
Just played this game today, who's great idea was it that two people can't play different songs on it.
