This brings back a lot of memories for me - even the screeching bypass sound from the hydraulics! I spent nearly all of my formative years aboard a nearly identical 720 Diesel (without the fenders) on our Montana cattle ranch. We baled hay, pulled a 4-bottom plow or a 16’ disk, and all sorts of other work. In later years, we even installed a Murphy Switch (automatic shutoff) and ran the tractor 24/7 on an irrigation pump! The 720 Diesel was an amazing tractor!
I always looked forward to spring vacations at paw paws farm in Texas because he hooked to plows up to his 720 LPG John Deere and told me which field he wanted plowed. I had so much fun doing that it didn't seem like work at all. I would spend all day in the fields. I miss those days from my youth. the 60's and 70's were great for me.
I believe that if you would have swung the drawbar toward the furrow a pin or two to put the plow in the furrow better . That would have leveled the plow up more and , then run the plow down all the way .. Before you went to the plow day , the tractor should have been checked to make sure that the hydraulics were in proper working order .. That way you wouldn't plow through the water-way .. Maybe next time you'll be more prepared , or not !!
@@Northeastohioumm no actually in that ground if properly ballasted your 720 is rated to pull a 5 bottom all day long in 3-4th gear. I pulled either a 4 or a 5 bottom in the rocky clay soil of upstate New York, depending on conditions with one identical to yours back in the 80’s. 720’s love to work.

Looks like a fun time
I had alot of fun
@Northeast Ohio Farmer That's good you had fun
Looks like the 720 just plays with 3 bottoms, you need to hook it to my 5 bottom! My yellow tractor pulls!
No. How dare you say that. 5 bottom would kill it. How dare you try to kill my tractor 🚜
