The mouth guy is a true friend. Didn't even question the writing. Just said "Nice sketches" then left him a pack of drinks.
right?
God provideth, then He giveth.
He's chill like that
Exactly what I thought lmfao, didn't question the writing, offered to let him come over, respected that he was busy and left the offer open, then left some drinks, what a bro
@@aydenburgess905 and he left an entire pack too, coolest neighbor ever.
I love how Maintenance Mark perfectly captures that very specific type of human who is extraordinarily personable and friendly that you can’t help but love, but also does the most infuriating shit on the planet on a regular basis.
His *one job* is to look at a big board of green switches and flick one if it turns red. He doesn’t even have to get up to do it. And yet he was sitting back there while that *single light* was red for an entire day, because he just gives that little of a shit.
That’s fucking hilarious.
I’ve had so many co-workers exactly like Mark, and I swear I can’t help but love them, even when they make my life inconvenient as hell.
Maintenance Mark isn't here to save the world or anything, he's just here to do what the bloody bolgers ask of him, and to take their bloody coin.
They are that ray of sun shine that gives people cancer
I mean the dude deliberately psychologically tortured the guy and thought it was funny, he's also lazy and talentless, but because he puts on a nonchalant friendly facade you gotta love him?

I would imagine that at least half half the requests that Zach gets are just for screaming
Zachs got that instantly recognizable kinda scream
how did i not know
"Hey Zach eh.. I said only for 30 seconds. Zach?! YO ZACH ITS BEEN TEN MINUTES ALREADY!! ZACHH!! STOP SCREAMING ZACH!!"

I guess what I got out of it was how our minds muster all sorts of horrors of imagination when we can't make sense of something - that fear of the unknown as it would be
True dat
Its the fear of the unknown but more relevant to this video its that fear in the face of choice. The fear of the unknown is ever-present and most people just deal with that fact but when presented with options and don't know which is correct. That can be crippling.
Some people make a choice that leads them down the wrong path. Some make a choice that leads them to prosperity. And some never end up making a choice at all.
A great game that also deals with this concept and coincidently has a similar styling is "How Fish is Made".
Overthinking a situation and thinking of the worst outcome of a situation.
Just watch for content 😂
Yeah, like death, the ultimate fear of the unknown inducing concept
Dude, recognized your style instantly for gwimbly, really great work man, super cool to see you on smiling friends :D
Love that Beady left Demmo a case of beers at his door when he left. What an absolute pal
so great dude!

The juxtaposition of this Silent Hill-esque nightmare world filled with grotesque homunculi people that live otherwise normal mundane lives is absolute gold.
Its like the opposite of smiling friends

Such an amazing show. It had really positive vibes too.
I dig it. I hope there’s more in store
What do you mean? This is just eastern europe.
Probably my favorite part about this, framed like a horror, story about an allegory, scene of an absolutely every-day happening. It’s all ridiculous when put together, just to rub in every part, for extra seasoning.
I’m genuinely obsessed with this artstyle. And the characters low poly design is somehow *S O* expressive. You’ve made something quite amazing.
3:49 hes my favorite guy hes kind and considerate.
great video
I love how despite his design he is just a normal guy with a normal voice
This could apply to basically anyone other than the woman and baby. And I’m assuming it does.
Normal words, but a horse guy!
i love how this world looks almost like a horror game, everyone is a strange abstract almost monster.
But it's just normal, everyone acts like just a normal person, there are more friendly characters than not, even the pipes arent actually dangerous
It gives off the feeling of turning into an adult. Everyone around has been through it all, knows it all, and are indifferent to the torment you are experiencing, for the first time. The relentless pressure and expectations of your peers compounding on top of having to live your life all by yourselves without direct guidance from another, it can make even the most mundane things seem hostile.
The animation portrayed that extremely well. Doing everything correctly. Planning it all out, nothing going according to the plan, and at the end of the allegedly painful pipe? Disappointment. Nothing ventured, nothing gained eh? More like Everything ventured, nothing gained.
Different vessels but still using a construct of time to tell stories to oneself.
Wow. Can’t believe you’re animating for Adult Swim already! Knew it was you right away. Amazing stuff.
He had to repay Zack for the goblin noices some way
OMFG i KNEW gwimbly looked so familiar
Please note that this is the guy who created and animated Mr grimbly we thank you for bringing us our new favorite character in smiling friends
New? Gwimbly has been around since forever. I know it's not the most popular one, but gwimbly and the search for the magical creamed corn was my favourite in the franchise. I spent days playing it as a kid.
@@bonk6244 ah right sorry I forgot my brother used to play it too he never let me did tho hope one day I get to play it

Can't wait to see that review of Gwimbly 3
I love how you even have the low precision in the vertexes so they jitter slightly. Very nice touch.
I love how I immediately recognized Zach as the baby by his crying alone. His voice is that iconic.
He truly was an iconic green goblin baby after all
I also instantly recognized Hunter (Meatcanyon) as the pink neighbor.
Zach is so iconic with that goblin voice of his.

I LOVED that.
Brock the goofster baker??? crazing seeing you here...
Can’t believe this guy made the best video game mascot of all time; Gwibly.
This is strangely relatable, you overthink how can you do a seemingly impossible task, when you do it though, it's simple as starting to do it. And when you look back on it, you think to your self I should of done it earlier and save my self the mental of pain of starting it
Exactly. Very familiar. It's a pretty good representation of anxiety imo.
@pulvenberg1709 it's not that deep dude
@@AKPiratePrince Neither are you (jk)
i think its really funny you have the courtesy to tell this dick you're just kidding. meanwhile this guy is just being a dick. obviously art has meaning, jackass, why can't something have even an extremely surface level message to it? must all art be reduced to the literal events that are depicted? use your head!
I feel called out
Ive dealt with a situation like this before, not what happened before the pipe, what came after.
fat guy in hammock?
What's the story?
If I may ask what's your story? It seems interesting
So you ran into a guy unexpectedly on the other side of the hole and then realized what you spent the whole night doing was so shameful you needed to be in the dark?
@@diamondisland2023 Agonizing over a decision weighed by perceived importance, only to find out - like a slap to the face - *just* how purely subjective that importance actually was, and that the agonizing done over said decision resulted in not only pain felt during the agonizing, but prolonged misery afterwards as a consequence of missed opportunity not taken when presented.
True misery is not the sting of paradise lost, but paradise ignored in the face of false crisis and *realized* only in hindsight.
Thanks for animating Gwimbly! So happy to see his cameo appearance in Smiling Friends. I remember playing his games back in the 90s, such fun.
I just finished watching the first episode of Smiling Friends season two, and I'd recognized that sexy PS1 art style anywhere. Great job on the Gwimbly and Groxia models. That episode was amazing!
Love the Oddworld reference with the walk animation
I love that people noticed it!
I misread it as Eddsworld
So I'm not crazy! I immediately noticed it, too.
I knew it felt familiar!
Yeah the look left and right is what got me to remember it
"So anyway, Dark Void gets 3 shits out of 5."
This should be the modern thesis on combining unique styles with intriguing storytelling. Everything about the character design, the old-videogame aesthetic, the haunting pacing. Amazing work!!!
CONGRATS ON GETTING TO WORK ON SMILING FRIENDS DUDE!

5:05 A fellow Pig In Hat enjoyer, another man of culture is so hard to find
This reminds me of when I need to deal with some problem, and my mind builds up anxieties and fears I obsess over which make it seem so much bigger than it really is. I only focus on how it could go wrong.
When I finally do it, it takes like ten minutes and turns out to be no big deal.
Although he ended up wasting the whole day, imagine how much more suffering he would have gone through if he had chosen the salmon pipe.
I’m taking a guess, about 10 times more painful?
It's gotta be atleast 10 times more painful. Scratch that, EXACTLY 10 times more painful
Just found out about your animation on smiling friends, insane work man! your style is so great
I feel like this whole short shows the importance of patience.
Also, love the fact that he wrote all that down and in the amount of time it would have took. He could have just waited it out.
And there are other people who seemingly have power. The elevators seem to work. So that means he could have just taken his equipment (or just enough) to the house that offered beer and company instead of stressing out by himself.

I love how much you show expression in that line, I can feel the impatient, and confusion you made I love it!

I would love a game like this, amazing sound design and animation with vintage textures. The writing is great and the voice acting is as well. Immersive yet nostalgic
RIP stink pit
Gwimbly is love
The Cusack and Pebbles cameo makes a lot more sense now.
so few polygons but soo much emotions
This might be your magnum opus.
Very unique visual style, and very reminiscent of early 3D polygonal video games from the mid to late 1990s, which fits with the main character's job of being a video game critic/satirist. (Though, it could also be just a hobby rather then a job, that he prioritizes too much.)
The subtle humor, suspense, mystery, and buildup is all very well done.
The character designs are very good, and make great unique use of the limited polygonal style, and pixalized bitmap details. Looks very authentic to old games.
If more old polygonal games tried to be more abstract, and expressionistic with their designs (as opposed to try to make things realistic) like this does, I think polygon graphics would be looked on with more nostalgia like old 2D sprite pixel games do, rather then be written off as "outdated graphics."
This shows polygons can be artistic too, and be used in other mediums besides nostalgic style indie video games.
The issues of choice, fear, priorities, and venturing into the unknown is very well done and satirized here. Very good work.
Completely unrelated but thanks for giving us Gwimbly
