It was finally delivered after a 1 month long wait. It is MASSIVE. But it's beautiful, I compared the Tab S7+ to the Tab S8 Ultra. It was totally worth it, especially with all the pre order benefits.
Mine arrives April 14th and ordered it like March 2nd. Slowly watched the ship date adjust to April 14th up from March 18th lol very depressing.

S7+ is just too good right now. Think the Ultra is too big for my usage. And the S8+ is a bit too much of a sideways upgrade -- again, for my usage. I wish Samsung came out with a quality 8 inch tablet.

I think the s7+ is where I will stop also (I love mine).
But i might start looking for something more comfortable to use when relaxing though.... I think the best tablet at its size is the ipad mini 6, since Samsung doesn't really try with their smaller tablets anymore.

When you realise that Samsung removed the plug from their tablet line's packaging before Apple's iPad line, my oh my how the tables have turned.
Doesn't bother me, a lot of people have usb type c cables/charging adapters lying around these days anyways

I got this tablet the 12gb 256gb version along with my 22 ultra. This tablet was well worth the purchase. The display & speakers along with the new latency with spen is 🔥
Something cool that I found out on the tab s8 is if you pull down the top corner setting where it has auto rotate and scroll more down you will see a miniature circle with a image. You can click on it and you can create another account and it kind of acts like a PC where you have different login users. And it completely acts like a brand new tablet when you do it. It also appears in the lock screen that miniature circle and you can choose between accounts
I love my s8 ultra and I got the 256gb and purchase a 1tb SD card to add storage. This is my first tablet I purchase for me, great buy.
The sound test with Mark is my second favorite feature on these drops

Thank you for a proper review, really showing the features of the tablet as other reviewers only compare the basic features to apple ipad because if you truley went indepth and showed what samsung UI can do - it's an absolute beast that outdoes the ipad in so many ways for multi taking and usability.

Hey Flossy, 200% agree with your review, certainly de big dog. Just got mine with 512gb, added another 512gb , keyboard and a baesus 100w blade power bank, 7 in 1 lemorele USB hub with gigabit lan and I am good to go. Mainly working in dex mode, lovin' in, but the odd sticky issues with the keyboard... Will keep an eye. Excellent video as always, keep em coming , word up from the Irish coast

Another great thorough review. I a professional photographer I use the Galaxy tab to edit photos on the fly. With Lightroom Apple you can feel the improved speed and display. I also have a n IPad Pro it’s criminal Apple does not include a pen 🤨

Samsung Knights are in the building! Honestly, there's no reason to buy the 16gb memory version bc S8 has Ram Plus, so users can increase their ram on the 8gb version. I'm still waiting on the cover/keyboard, but was told I probably won't get mine until the 1st week in April. I really love the Ultra even though I thought I would hate the notch...

Yep iPad wins the speaker test yet again. I still love the tab S8 ultra but I want better bass. Even S22 ultra compared to 13 pro max. Cmon Samsung get your shit together and stop half assing the speaker experience. If you do that shit again next year I’m not upgrading !

I noticed the Tab lacks a lot in the midrange. Listen to the way the snares sound on the tab.
I customized the audio eq in the 'audio' tab and my Ultra audio sounds much better than the stock...

Wouldnt do it. Bought tab 7+ with the same intention, found hardware is great but software is far far away from a laptop functionality. Ended up having to carry tablet *and* laptop everywhere
I have a tab s7plus and as a realtor it replaced my laptop. I use this thing EVERY day ALL day. I love it. There is almost nothing I cant do on it. I disagree with the guy above. It depends on what youre doing. With dex, basic computer functions are what most people need a computer for. Microsoft, excel, emails, etc. Unless you need specific software it can definately replace your on the go laptop. Mine has a thick layer of dust on it and its more powerful than my tab. The tab is just much more convient and lasts WAAAAAAYYYYY longer than laptops.
@@jd2161 I agree..I got the s7 plus....got a Bluetooth keyboard from Amazon. It's perfect. That's why I haven't got this s8 ultra yet. I got the tb micro SD card too....hot that on sale from Amazon too.

Not paying $230 for a new one when samsung was giving free ones with the ultra for preorder. I need the keycase for the portability as a realtor. I love this thing though. Ultra should be here end of next month. 2 1/2 month wait smh

Awesome review as usual Flossy. Just wondering, in the Dolby Atmos settings do you leave it on auto? I changed mine to music on the s22 ultra and mannnn it makes a difference to my ears. I noticed more bass and it just sounds more balanced overall. Worth a try if you read this! 👍

I decided to get back on CZcams and watch some Flossy vids... now for some unexplained reason I own a S8 ultra and crusher evos... the hype beast strikes again, and he doesn't miss!
The call to the diner is a classic. I have an "ancient" Galaxy Tab S2 8.0 screen. For my purposes it the perfect form factor. And Samsung really knows its cases.
My Galaxy Tab S2 can stutter at times, but it's the perfect reader and media consumption device. Can't wait to checkout the S8 line. They must fly!
I also have that in the gold color. It was my first high end device and I love it and try to use it as much as possible. Just not the last year or so when I started to use my S6 mainly. I love the physical button and the 8 inch form factor. I use it in the same way as you. Hell I even used my Blackberry Playbook regularly until 3 years ago. Blackberry really fucked that up, but I do got 3 of them. Kept grabbing them when they went cheap.
the best looking tablet yet I love my need S8 plus same OLED screen playing real racing 3 is beast mode Samsung is bringing it love my pen and keyboard too. Calls sound better than your regular phone.

What a total beast, best tablet on the market, without a doubt. That said, I still prefer powerful 2 in 1 laptops + a nice flagship Android smartphone, over something like this.

Even though I can live without NFC and Always On Display on a tablet, to be honest for that price Samsung could have included both. But at the end of the day for performance, practicality and for gaming this tablet will do the job.

I love samsung, floss (especially after switching from apple) but a major gripe i have is them using the AKG brand on everything. Samsung bought AKG but all of AKG’s workers that invented AKG from the ground up had left before that could happen. So Samsung just slaps the name on everything so they can to lure some poor suckers into thinking that AKG actually put their hardware into a Samsung device when thats just not the case.

Maybe I missed it, but is this worth an upgrade over the Tab S7+ with 256gb & 12gb RAM?
I've been using my tab s8 ultra for a week now and honestly I'm disappointed. The tablet itself is pretty good. Nice speakers, screen, build, etc. The problem comes in with the software, it's still too close to a big phone even with dex. Tablets should have an OS and usage that's closer to a computer but they just aren't there yet. Now the keyboard cover is another issue. It just feels flimsy and cheap. It lays flat on the desk so the ergonomics aren't good, whereas something like the surface 8 pro has the keyboard at an angle which makes a much bigger difference than you might think. The keys themselves are good, but the backlight is sub par and the trackpad is terrible. Slower speed tracking causes the mouse to jitter and stutter, or stop moving altogether. The trackpad also has terrible palm rejection, when typing the mouse will often continue moving around and clicking as your hands touch the trackpad. Furthermore, it's such a flimsy keyboard that if you use it on any non-solid surface (lap, for example) it bends and causes the mouse to click. In contrast, the surface 8 pro keyboard is carbon fiber reinforced and is as solid as an actual laptop.
I'm not a surface fanboy, I actually returned my surface 8 pro to switch to the tab s8 ultra since I paid $650 for it and the surface 8 pro is $1300. For the price I paid the tab s8 ultra is totally worth it, but I'd never pay full price for it. At that point I'd get the surface.
If you don't like the fact that it's like the phone then you should have got a laptop. I am glad this tablet is like the phone because it's so nice to edit photos amongst other things on a big screen with the apps on the phone. I had the surface laptop and that was one purchase that I was not satisfied with for the money. The new ones may be better now. But I am glad the tablets like the phone because I get to use these apps that I love and can't be used on Windows.
@@mystictraveler8642 he doesn't mean the OS. He means the UI. Like the way stuff is laid out for example is difficult to access on a big tablet. I have the same issue on my tab s5e. The thing is clearly designed to be used in portrait mode, which is just plain stupid.
Finally someone telling the truth about Samsung tablets. All they run are blown up smartphone apps that look pixelated and bad on tablets. Samsung fan boys are used to an inferior tablet experience so they don't know any better. Editing and exporting a 4K video on the M1 iPad takes 15 minutes total. On a Galaxy Tab it takes over 30 minutes cuz the Snapdragon 8 chip is a dud. The M1 iPad Air smokes all Android tablets in speed and performance. Samsung reviews never really tell the full story about their tech. The GS22 Ultra has terrible battery life, camera has shutter lag, and the Snapdragon 8 is so weak Samsung was forced to throttle their new phones. Look on CZcams and everyone who got a free phone to review won't mention those flaws so their fans think their phones and tablets are perfect due to inaccurate reviews

Great tablet but damn introducing a notch to the "Ultra".. it doesn't seem that intrusive but still better if it was not there. Other than that it does look top notch boom boom.. But yeh just the larger AMOLED screen is a major major go! I love my Sammy tablets, they make awesome side monitors for a PC setup.
I hear you But jst so you know, you can pretty much disable the notch universally except on the homescreen and settings. The viewing difference is minor.
Must do it per app though.
I think Floss and I got our S22 & S8 Tab Ultras around the same time. I'm on day 5 with the tablet and a month on my phone. It should be said that the apps not optimized for the tablet look wack. Usually I'll switch over to my phone for those few badly displayed apps. That's the only negative I have and everything else is dope about this tablet.
@Jerome Motrot Instagram & Snapchat are pixelated showing more flaws in such a large screen. CZcams & the other streaming apps look amazing on it because they were obviously optimized. It's a dope tablet and I'm actually replying on it right now. Just keep your social media use on your phone until devs figure something out.
@Jerome Motrot Oh Call of Duty Mobile also doesn't look as hot either on this tablet compared to S22 Ultra. Resolution is naturally higher on the smaller phone so you don't see the pixel flaws. I play on either because the tablet is still very good to game on.
This would be perfect if it was IP68 water and dust resistant. This far into the Tab series i would had thought we would have that feature by now 🙄 its a no from me at this point but great review Floss 👍🏻

Apple devices typically sound better because when they build the units they they build them around sound cameras etc… where other manufactures just toss in speakers to an already existing chassis.

Been using the tab s7plus and found out all Samsung devices have a built-in equalizer and when I adjusted the eq for my tab s7plus it sounded more bassy and on the same level as the iPad pro m1 12.9inch
