  • It's been a long time coming but we finally made it off the yard.
    Its a honest one and some parts may not look positive to some but to know where has has come from is important. Proud of her and Zora feeling super too! Enjoy

    It's great to see things going so well with Blondie and Zora! I can't believe the difference your approach has made for Blondie. I don't think she could've asked for a better human than you Miriam!

    OMG, I stopped the video at 2:30 this girl is looking absolutely beautiful! You have done a remarkable job with this mare and if I lived in England I would no doubt seek you out for training. I love your approach to all of your horses (that you work with) and really appreciate that you are sticking with youtube. Now I have to finish the video.

    You and Blondie have come so far, you should be very proud.
    Also love the equitex pads, but they're so pricey 😥

    What a breakthrough with Blondie. The first video I watched of you and Blondie was the one where she would not allow you to pick her hi d foot up and you were in tears. What a journey and what great things you have both achieved. Keep going Miriam!

    I am curious if maybe you'd have an easier time warming her up if you went from walk to canter and then to trot? My last horse was really cold backed and needed a really nice warm up and he had a much easier time going walk/canter/trot and cycling those. Then after about 10 minutes he would be softer and we could do more serpentines/circles/poles etc. Just an idea. You've done amazingly with Blondie.

    Takeaways for me were seeing Blondie accept Meg handling boots and girth without a fuss. That's huge progress from last year.
    A thought for the heart rate monitor. Test their reaction to being patted vs being stroked, from the ground, whilst riding at walk, trot and canter, even upon completing a jumping round. I think that could be very interesting. ❤

    • @hackettequine2059
      @hackettequine2059  Před 8 měsíci +1

      You are so right, such a huge change, that’s interesting why do you think that would be so valid?

    • @lemonladyYT
      @lemonladyYT Před 8 měsíci

      @hackettequine2059 The full explanation is multi faceted but the short version:
      I believe it was Monty Roberts who first suggested "stroke, don't pat". Regardless of anyone's personal opinion of his modality, he is so attuned to any horse he works with that he is almost as accurate at calling out their heartbeat as an electronic monitor.
      Connect that intuition to the suggestion not to pat a horse...
      You're already stroking first whilst riding Miri, even you pats are single and precise but not a slap. If that's intuitive, ask yourself why?
      What is a horse's heart rate spiked from being patted but slows during being stroked? What's the difference between one or two single pats and a frenzy of slaps?
      What if Blondie is happier with you just resting your hand on the side of her neck than any of the above?
      Significant?

    Hi miri, I love tlyour videos! Finally I've found someone with a horse with problems just like mine. Are her hormones all sorted now? I'm trying to follow your simple diet plan with the balancer, do you feed any gut supplements? Keep up the good work you're an inspiration!!

    Your very kind and thoughtful to your horses. They are very lucky to have you. Amazing progress with Blondie. A question: are they overweight? I know I have a hard time keeping weight off my mare.

    • @hackettequine2059

      Un fit, but not fat as such. Zora has been losing weight but it’s a hard balance

    What about talking blondie to some gallops with another horse? She might enjoy it and you won't get as many no's. Or water treadmill? Water and walking get her fit. X

    When they lick each other vigorously and simultaneously like that, is that similar to primates' grooming and a sign of affection/closeness or something else?

    I have a question Hackett how your horse react if you and 1 your girl besties dissguised yourselfs as a fake horse with you 2 in your riding boots?
