I only have working vision in one eye as well due to a congenital birth defect. The brain just 'shuts off' the blurry input from the other eye. The only issue is as you say is the effect on peripheral vision and people coming into my space. One just adjusts and compensates somehow. I often have to twist my head so that the left eye is facing center to maximize my field of view lol.
when i was 3, i had a retinal detachment in my left eye and i’ve been blind in it since. when i walk through crowded places, sometimes it’s a bit jarring to see people come out of nowhere from my left side. and when i walk with someone, i usually prefer them to be on my right side so i can actually see them from my peripheral
Hi Lizzy I'm blind in my left eye which was caused from an accident in my early 20s. Have you fallen down stairs at all, cause I have, quite a few times. Because on some stairs I couldn't tell where one ended and the other began, because of the lack of depth perception. I know one time my mom and I were heading to the Commuter Rail to go home at South Station in Boston. It was at the time when there's a HUGE amount of people rushing to the train. We all had to rush and I was trying to go to the left side of me so I'll be closest to the train. I hurry and go off to the left and didn't realize there was a woman there and I almost knocked her down to the train tracks!! I felt so horrible I told her sorry but we both literally couldn't stop because of all the people rushing behind us, we probably would of gotten trampled. I felt like such a horrible person. 😢 The woman went into a different part of the train than us so I couldn't explain to her that I'm blind in my left eye and couldn't see her.😢😢😢

Remembering where everything is on the screen is hard, given that with voiceover you can swipe, but that takes a lot of time and sometimes you miss it completely. I'm fully blind, and have always been fully blind. I never could see even a slight glimpse of light. I think I might be able to but I haven't had true experience with it so I couldn't tell you for sure.
