Cannon: Jeff is 35 when he joins Greendale and Annie is 18. Jeff is almost twice her age. (In season five, Jeff turns 40 and has a meltdown in the GI Joe episode).
I love Annie and Britta's look at eachother, they're so... peaceful, like they absolutely imagined a life
How is jeff and annie something, but shirlry and troy feels wrong. Its the same age dynamic.
shirley carries herself as an adult, while troy can't and won't let go of his childlike wonder. jeff carries himself like he thinks he's the cool campus college senior, and annie is determined to be a functional adult. so the shirley-troy gap feels wider and the jeff-annie gap feels narrower. like that optical illusion with the lines that look shorter and longer!
@HawkoftheNorth Shirley does behave more adult-like than Jeff, but she also gives off a maternal vibe that would add to the 'ickiness' of a hypothetical relationship between her and Troy. Also, unlike Jeff and partly because of her being somewhat typecast as a motherly figure, she isn't perceived as conventionally attractive.

It’s not fun to see your ex kissing your best friend? I mean if you have had feelings for someone it usually doesn’t immediately disappear, and I think your friend should understand that and leave it alone for a while out of respect. it’s not that complicated and I would assume it’s not just a thing in heterosexual dating lol
@@masonwiggers7886 Well, in this particular instance, Britta actually did give Annie her blessing to date Vaughan, only to then conspire with Jeff to sabotage their relationship. And non-hetero dating does have one major difference in that their best friends can often also be their partners/exes because just like with hetero people, they are more likely to be friends with those of the same gender as they are.
